  1. Some good news on a bad day:

    From BBC:

“Ryan Christie could return for Celtic before the end of the month, says manager Brendan Rodgers.

The midfielder was carried off on a stretcher during the club’s defeat by Salzburg on Thursday after rushing to block a shot by Takumi Minamino.

Scotland cap Christie, 23, has scored seven goals in 23 appearances so far this season.

“It’s not as bad as what we first thought,” Rodgers told BBC Radio Scotland’s Sportsound.

“When he had the scan after the game, we had good news on that.

“He’s now full weight bearing. He’s able to get his foot on the floor so you never know. You never know for midweek or next weekend.

“It was a sore one. At the time, he had to come off because he couldn’t put his weight on it.” `

Can someone please explain to me where the certainty comes from that we will win this league?

    =======================

    From watching football.

And we’ll win it by double-figure points clear, around mid-end April.

Now, what’s your next soccer query?

  3. Hi s 2 wins in 8 games including a fortunate 1-0 at scheidty Hamilton and lying 8th in the table, sevco will probably scud them midweek.

Our manager’s’ best attribute when he first came was the ability tae turn things around early doors, seems tae have lost it.

Now before some of you start jumping up and down, mibbbees just mibbees he’s past his shelf life now.

There is a very local attitude to search endlessly for excuses to explain our failure based on perceived cheating and injustices by others rather than looking closer to home to work what we did wrong or could do better.

As you note we are not pulling our weight at the moment.

Talk of 10 anything should be banned in the support — the ghost of 74/75 looms large.

We had it all in front of us during the summer.

Unfortunately PL got jealous and wanted to put down a marker.

BR took the huff and lost focus.

    The squad for restless

    And the rest is history.

We still have a huge amount of work to do.

The squad is in turns complacent, feart, expectation driven, shy / lacking in confidence and unable to handle pressure.

The talent is there but the heart, brains and experience is missing.

  5. Dont really know why Ntcham is being made “The escape goat”.There was no strategy anywhere on the pitch to allow our midfielders a bit of time.Izzy, too slow to play the role BR wanted.Sinclair unable to play the role given.Ajer, never a wide defender. This was Brendans worst performance as a manager in his time here.It looked amateurish, ill thought out.Tell me,if you have no sub for Eddi, why would you take him off.Why would you end up with 4 wingers and no striker on,when 2-0 down.Never understand his team and tactics today. He gets enough praise for his displays,he deserves the boos when he gets it wrong.

  6. hi bhoys, before I go on congrats to neil lennon a true hunskelper, we can blame our injuries to key players but truth is we were never at the races, please mr desmond back Brendan in the transfer window, or we might just might, not win this league.hh

  7. Go tell the Spartim on

And so it begins … as naseum

Players are shite blah de blah

Manager can’t motivate blah de blah

7 domestic losses in ……….. 113 yes one hundred and thirteen games

You win some you lose some whatnot if that dint a lot of you get

Not sure Ntcham is the scape goat, surely (like the rest of our team) when is pash we are allowed to say that, naw ?

  9. May I just add that I hate the Euro losers league. We receive a pittance in money compared to the CL. The CL a competition where being played off the park is compensated by the club receiving eye watering amounts of cash. So the odd injury to a 1st team player while a concern is again compensated by the oodles of cash received. We lost two 1st team players in Europe this week playing in a competition where the total prize money received probably wouldn’t cover N’tcham’s transfer fee from Man City & wages for the duration of his contract.

  10. Some rubbish being spoken of Brendan being past it.Nonsense.He had a terrible day at the office. We all have.I would not have anyone else.

As for the league. In a canter.

  11. TURKEYBHOY

Agree with everything you say there.

I thought at least Nt’cham tried to hold onto the ball unlike a lot of his teammates .

    Gerryfraetgebrig,

3 out of the 7 defeats have come from the last 5 months.

    —————-

We’d be mugs not to look at recent form, season 1 was great, once in a lifetime, but it’s gone. Last season we were average and this season we are worse.

  13. Jist,……..jist empty the park, and get rid of the soulless, fae tap tae bottom, structure of the entire club.

Old Firm FC / PLC has to be treated to the medicine of, 53,000 empty seats.

7 seven pub team skelping, 1 waan horse leagues and cup’s, dizny hide the Old Firm PLC structure that poison’s the entire fabric of, what used to be, the Celtic Football and Athletic Company, and became Old Firm PLC when, ma baw McCann got his hauns on the keys in 1994.

Any Celtic ‘supporter’ who purchases a £49:00 Old Firm ticket, and rubber stamps, the Sevco / Rangers same club lie, well, sadly, those Celtic ‘supporters’ deserve to be cheated!

Nae winner Neil Lennon walked oot the Parkheid gates!

    Jeez.

    Nurse! Nurse!

    Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

It was 6 defeats in 113 domestic games before Lenny put us to the sword today (again)

We won the league last season by 9 points, but you’re confident from ‘watching football’ that we will win this season by a greater margin

  16. Anyone accusing Rodgers of having lost it is either a hun on the wind up or an absolute head banger. We have our fair share of those.

Brendan needs backed in the window. Not with loans or more projects but with quality. He’s worked wonders with the bulk of Ronny Deila’s squad.

£30,000,000 resting in our current account, time to get the cheque book out.

    :-)

3 of those defeats have came in last 5 months …

I would read that as we have only lost 3 games in nearly half a year

  18. when players play their best in certain positions don’t change to accommodate inferior players into the team ie CMcG , pick the team around these players , once again BR makes far too many positional and personnel changes , even allowing for injuries.

  19. Our away form reeks of a manager desperately seeking answers with complicated ideas.

    K.I.S.S

    Keep it simple stupid

  20. Three wins in ten away games paints a very competitive picture the SPL sides

    in contention.

Neil Lennon mugged Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic side which Celtic fans though not SKY, won’t need reminding is decimated by injury, having just finished 3 games in seven days.

BR changes were inevitable but baffling in formation, and quite why he ‘experimented’ in another very difficult away fixture only he will know, because from the opening minutes the Celtic support and the team looked lost. Hibs decision to lose money, trying to sell tickets to their own support played out perfectly, in the empty stands but didn’t affect their performance one bit, they ran amok from the k.o.

It was utterly bizarre to return Emilio Izzaguirre as a wing back x years later in this fixture, and he was winging his way back by the time both Hibs goals were crossing the goal line. A disasterous back three formation, saw MacGregor Ntcham, Brown, Sinclair and James Forrest all muddled up playing in no mans land, as Hibs enacted the pre planned mugging.

James Forrest is playing at the peak of his career but switching him inside to play off his left foot beside ‘soft Eddie’ did the team no favours at all, and the elegant but too slow Frenchman was eventually replaced by another winger.

Remembered Scott Brown was playing on 37 minutes when his two footed lunge for any Hibee resulted in shady red come yellow, but after that it was still all down hill, in a game where Celtic internet fans had already highlighted the dearth of the bench.

Celtic fans ‘fed up’ with Scott Sinclair wide left got an unexpected bonus of new right wing back and at least we now know he can’t play there either perhaps BR was sending a subliminal message to the board, but if throwing in the towel with another three wingers was the answer, he maybe wasn’t sure of the question.

All shuffle for two home games that have added significance and BR clawing at the January window, with two of the hardest away games of the season still to come before some the ‘summer signings’ are made in January.

Sevco are rush releasing the latest DVD “ Another three days at the top “

  21. Very poor all round today – MJ and LM did well when they came on.

Perhaps when newco are top of the league tonight we will realise if we haven’t already done so that it’s going to be a tough season ahead.

I still think we will win the league but schadenfreude works both ways.

  22. Are we at the stage now as Celtic Supporters where we can’t allow our manager and team a bad day?

We were very poor today and the manager’s tactics were also poor as were his substitutions but for a team that’s delivered so much, seven consecutive trophies are we in danger of become entitled to the point of pouring out vitriol to the edges of hatred ?

Not as much on here although we have our moments but if you go to social media when we lose the abuse is way beyond the pale in my opinion.

During the huns financially doped 9 in a row there was a certain resignation to how poor we were and a knowledge that we couldn’t compete financially with the Orcs but now we are in great Celtic times and every defeat is greeted with again in my opinion howls of derision way beyond the reality of the situation??

I’m not a gambling man but if you think Celtic are not going to win the league who should I lump my Swiss francs on.))

I think most “Celtic” fans can accept getting beat … league cup in the bag, win our game in hand, top of the league, and last 32 of the EL…. pretty decent in my eyes

  24. GO TELL THE SPARTIM

Honestly don’t see why you would include all past games.

This season the ratios are trending downwards which is a continuation of last seasons numbers.

We have to recognize that a continuation of this trend could be catastrophic.

A bit of introspection and adjustment on the coaching side is needed.

Ignoring an issue based on past circumstances is folly.

If you included all of Mourinho’s past results his cv is fantastic.

But the reality is his potency as a coach has lessened with little success in last few seasons.

Is it because he is clinging to the past and hopes his potency and success will return?

The modern game technology has afforded opponents so many more ways for them to plan and study your systems and tactics so the decline of our win percentage and effectiveness is unsurprising.

Time for coaches to recognize this and earn their salaries.

    Not good enough

We were mince today, as bad as we have played under Brendan (imo)

  26. what on earth was ON thinking, with our back 3 in their box for a free kick and EI ran over the ball he decides to blast it against the wall , they clear the ball into EI position and score from our free kick , what a tactical disaster.

  27. nd Rodgers told Sky Sports: “We didn’t play well and that’s my fault. Obviously we had players missing so we changed the system and our way of working.

“We did OK at times but we switched off for the two moments, tactical discipline really, in the first minute of the game.

“And for the second one it’s from a set-piece, we get broken on.

“Apart from that we had some good passages but we didn’t have enough today.”

We didn’t have the players to play the way we normally do, that’s my feeling.

“We’re trying to change that (the formation) in order to help the team. It didn’t really stop us switching off for the goals.

“We conceded two poor goals. But yeah, at this stage of the season I think I know what my best team is.

“But when we make changes we expect to better.

“It’s irrelevant (squad depth). We work with what we’ve got for now. I expect, with what we’ve got, to be better than what we were today.

“I’m not even thinking about it (the transfer window), to be honest. We’ve got a game on Wednesday night and important games before the end of the year.

And on the prospect of any of the players who missed out against Hibs returning to face Motherwell in mid-week, Rodgers added: “I don’t know, I’ll find out tomorrow when we go in.”

  28. We got what we deserved today.

    We were flat, flat, flat.

Formation issues are one thing, but we need to show more urgency in getting chances in the opposition box. We did not create enough to deservve anything out of the game.

On Thursday we lost to a really good team; today we lost to a Hibs team who had conceded 19 goals in 16 games and had won 1 and drawnr of their 6 games.

We have been forced into changes by injury but so have every team at this stage in the league. Hibs were without Gray, Hanlon, Bartley and Boyle.

We will surely see further changes due to form in the home games against Well and Dundee as either Johnston or Morgan must replace Sinky, who had been showing some small signs of recovering form but he has not kicked on from those budding signs. It is now time to bench him.

Brendan, in his post match interview, chose to downplay his disappointment and did not throw any players under the bus (apart from an oblique jibe against Izzy’s tracking back of runners) and that seems fair. A league is a long run event and we are not yet at the halfway stage. It’s always hard to tell, at this point, whether the league will be close or a large gap will open up after Jan & Feb.

However, you have to play as if it is going to be a close league race and today we didn’t.

We have 2 home games to play before we have another tricky away fixture to face. We must concentrate on Well, and then Dundee, before we even look at this issue.

I expect Sevco to go top again today. It will cause angst among some of us but it really shouldn’t.

  29. let me be the first to say it , but has SB got his Aussie visa yet as he brings nothing to to team that we currently need, ie far to slow in thought and mind , also very lucky to stay on the park following that bad tackle.

  30. Gerryfaethebrig on

The league is never won in December the matter who goes top

Still getting ma head round you giving Leipzig 9pts after two wins :-)

  31. Utter mince today. It happens. Too frequently over the last 12 months or more.

I wasn’t confident when I saw the team sheet. We need a right back and striker urgently. Johnny Hayes, nice guy that he is, should be starting for Aberdeen not struggling for us.

The only highlight was Mikey Johnstone. Looks a player.

I would make some allowance for tiredness – a lot of those who played on Thursday looked unable physically to lift themselves. They have played a lot of football this season. Tired limbs and tired minds play a part.

It’s fixable but we need to kick on from here. The board need to recognise that good additions are required early January.
