  1. GlassTwoThirdsFull on

Not at our best today, but hardly surprising given midweek and easily good enough to win in any case which was all that mattered.

Brown, Tierney, Boyata and McGregor probably our best. Good to see the big man back amongst the goals, especially with Griffiths being a bit off his best lately.

Penalty was a joke – just waiting for the MSM to say Hibs should have tried to miss it like they did with Guidetti.

Second goal was poor from us – four players attracted to the ball, leaving too much space in the middle.

Can’t afford to be so slack on Wednesday.

The BBC buzzword of tonight and tomorrow (hopefully not after that!) will be “old firm final”.

  2. Hebcelt

We are away to PSG. I can see reading my post how it could mean we are home. I should have said away to PSG not PSG at home

  3. DD,

So I’ve converted you to Weiss Bier – job done, lol! Don’t forget, £1.25 for a 500ml bottle in Aldi – lovely stuff (as recommended by Pog).

  4. Just back from the game.

I thought the front four never really got going today. Paddy showed some good play but was inconsistent, SS was off the pace, Leigh looked as if he didn’t want to put Hibs to the sword and SA isn’t the same once his hair gets wet.

Broonie was effective but Calmac was largely anonymous.

Happy with result, especially after the demands of the CL.

Another dreadful display by Clancy. It was never a penalty but what about the numerous other decisions – free kicks to Hibs for minor “fouls” but not given for us, Hibs players warned but Broonie gets a yellow for his first bad tackle. GIRFUY.

  5. I agree on CG not kicking it long.

If Brendan insists on playing it out then we have to have a better set up and plan.

Again today only Brown showed from the midfield for an out ball.

    Teams now know this..

Brendan has to work others into position to receive.

This has been an issue this season.

  6. SFTB,

We had a crap view of the game… we needed to be higher to see things properly, I thought Nir looked good from what we seen @ the game. I said to Aidan that he was the best player today, cool, calm and composed.

If the BT cameraman just knelt down it would have helped.

Delighted isnae the word for how I feel about Celtic and what they are doing. Magical.

Aberdeen have a real challenge this Season in Hibs to get 2nd.

‘I agree on CG not kicking it long.’

    ###

The problem with passing the ball out every single time is that the opposition know what’s going to happen and plan accordingly.

The occasional blootering of a clearance would at least create an element of doubt.

  8. Well better go and get sorted for a rare night out. It’s a young couples engagement party. He’s a Billy and she’s a Tim. Wonder how it will work out??????

  9. So Mourinho splashed out 35m on a centre half from Benfica and they couldn’t beat Huddersfield. But we’ve to shell out a fifth of that on one for Bayern Munich. Okay dokey.

I am drinking my son’s stash of Guiness watching the game at his house. I amm going shopping in Aldi Clydebank tomorrow.

    Prost

TAL…if it was a boycott, then indeed it must be commended…however, I heard nothing about it…

  12. Afternoon all

Just back hime after a couple of post match beers.

Result much better han performance with only Broony and Dedryk playing well throughout with a few players looking a bit down both in terms of fitness and body language. Stuart A looks short of fitness and once again Nir B looks what he is – out of position.

Huge plus though was Moussa D who looks to have the buzz he had 7 to 8 months ago- the best striker we have had since Henrik possibly. The second best- Leigh G- is struggling a bit. Bit of man management needed and I am sure he will get it.

Hibs were way down on 3 weeks ago and needed a gift to get in the game at 2-0. Looked a bad decision to me but I am biased. But probably not wrong

Lacklustre occasion for me looking at a sea of empty seats- fraction under 40000 according to the stadium announcer. If that is true I will be dining with Manuela Arcuri tonight.

  13. Low energy performance.

Usual basket of mistakes, foibles and self indulgent nonsense.

Well below our best of last season.

The one positive was the performance and finishing of MD.

Bit rusty, bit heavy legged at times but added a new dimension to our game.

Hopefully he now can get a run of games to get him up to speed.

NL was let down by his GK.

As the saying goes — he couldn’t have kept weans oot a close in the first half.

Surprised by their pace and energy — JMcG Is worth a watching for his tackling at least.

AS showed glimpses of the player he could be if he could cut out the crap.

Best match up of the day was CMcG vs DMcG — the east probably shaded it due to greater involvement. One question for the stattoes out there — have they ever played many games in the same team?

My memory was the DMcG was the man in his younger days while CMcG was a slow burner who was made by a loan move down south. Interesting contrast all the same.

  14. ERNIE LYNCH

I was responding to a NOTTHEBUS post about Craig looking scared to kick it long.

    And i agree a good blooter has it’s place.harder

I have said we are to one dimensional and thats reason teams are making it more difficult for us having the benefit of studying last season.

Have posted this a few times but when Real played in Dortmund they were struggling with their passing game and Zidane switched tactics and sent long balls behind Dortmund defense which then stretched the field and their passing game flourished.

We need to mix it up a little.

  15. What is the Stars on

That was a great game today. Entertaining with the result going the right way.

    Some lovely football played.

Dembele played 30 minutes, had 3 chances and only managed to score 2 of them.

Over rated one season wonder. Take the 5 million from Sheffield Wednesday immediately

  16. Thetimreaper.

    There’s your dinner McCann, indeed!!!

He was in Starbucks in the fort, this morning just before 10.00.

My wife, who tells me she has no interest in football said, there’s your pal sitting in the corner all by himself. I believed her, thinking it was a friend I turned round and it was him, coffee spilt, then looks at her and she’s killing herself laughing. You don’t care for him much do you she said!!!!

He was on his laptop, probably playing Football Manager.

    Hail Hail

  17. TTR @ 5.00

    Pretty simple issue to me.

MU spent the money to make the team better than the players they had.

Consequently what is the gap between the new and the old.

We needed to spend the money — £5 mill spend is a good data point — to bolster an area where we have injury issues with the first picks and the back up is either as raw as sushi or a bit limited.

The £5mill we would have spent would have provided an out and out CB two levels better than our current situation — declining RB who is a part time / stop gap CB at best or a DM with good presence and positioning but learning the position with little experience and not a stopper in the traditional CB mould.

    That is the difference.

An experienced CB on a Bosman would have been a big help on Wednesday.

Two positions weakened due to a flawed signing policy.

I wonder how many games the SA Bloke has played in the last 2 months?

  18. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

    Weebobbycollins – touché. -:)

TontineTim. Good point. I stand corrected re revenue generation. Today was a league gig.

    Hail hail

Sportcene Analysing Stoke is the epitome of the Scottish Cringe – pathetic creatures cow towing to their masters – I am certain the presenters felt very awkward

  20. Finally home from Hampden, enjoyed the game, Celtic totally dominant for an hour then the non penalty given. After that a lot more even but we never looked in any danger, except when Gordon had the ball at feet. Brown MOTM for me, McGregor , Boyata and Bitton all played well. Armstrong, Griffiths and Roberts under par but overall a comfortable win for a team who arrived home from Munich in the early hours of Thursday against a team who had a week to prepare. Lenny, wrong tactics, wrong team selection, Boyle was the guy who caused is problems at CP a couple of weeks ago, delighted he was on the bench.

  21. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

Jimmynotpaul, McCann was probably checking up the rules of football seeing as he particularly likes to mention them occasionally.

In the sportscene results show, they showed him walking off the pitch looking dejected. It was a lovely sight.

I was working today so missed our game. Another game won and into our third league cup final in the last 4 seasons.

Bayern v Hamburg on bt sport the now, still 0 0

  22. Dallas.

I’ve just read Dundee missed a pen when they were winning 1.0.

    What a shame.

25 in my place starting training on UC/ M.Rs from Mon. Our good Tim friend SMG is one. They wouldn’t take me :-)))

I thought Celtic were good today, some expect too much, it’s a cup semi, we got home at 4.00am on Thursday after being given the runaround. Fatigue has to play a part. Moussa looked the part when he came on.

    Hail Hail

Good to see you are back on the coffee :-)

    Dallas 5.46pm

Hope you managed some output today, I bolted at 12pm easiiest shift ever, off on Monday so will try and read a bit of that book :-)

Motherwell CEO guy in SSB has been very good all day, think it was him that congratulated Celtic for the CL windfall

  24. GARY67 on 21ST OCTOBER 2017 5:51 PM

Was the linesman who gave the penalty the racist Tory MP or was he on the main stand side?

Just read he was the same lines man who didn’t give the penalty when Josh Meekings saved. griff’s header a couple of years ago. Why is he still officiating games of this magnitude when he’s obviously incapable of doing it?

  25. Dallas.

Incidentally Cumbernauld game called off a hour before kick off. Waterlogged. I can’t see the owner being too happy, they spent a right few quid in the summer on drainage and now it’s a different part of the pitch that’s flooded.

They were playing Kello Rovers so I felt a wee bit sorry for their fans and players who had already travelled, only a wee bit mind you as some of my cousins come from that neck of the woods. Very much hun city.

    Hail Hail
