History is our team talk

330

Job done, we have had a week of celebration and back slapping.  Meanwhile, in Perth, a squad are playing for their livelihoods, playing to make mortgage payments and ensure they have a wage come July.

St Johnstone may be second bottom of the league, but their last defeat was four games ago, narrowly to Newco, they have beaten Hearts, and taken draws at Pittodrie and Easter Road in the last two months.  The gap to St Mirren and safety has narrowed to six points; tomorrow we face a side with momentum.

One of football’s endearing lessons to me arrived in April 2005.  We went to Ibrox and won 1-2, the mood was similar to what it is right now, as we thought we had done the difficult work.  A home game against Tony Mowbray’s Hibs was up next.

There were all sorts of rumours of what went wrong that day, but the upshot is that a poor Hibs side left Glasgow with a 1-3 win.  Celtic lost the title by a a single point three weeks later.  No one saw that outcome after the win at Ibrox.

If you think tomorrow is all about celebrating what happened on Sunday, let me dissuade you.  If we beat St Johnstone, we will have to show even greater appetite than we know they will have.  For this one, history is our team talk.

I’ve been out this morning and not had a chance to catch up with Dermot Desmond’s subtle musings. Maybe next week.

That would indeed be a Carlsberg Sunday!

Not that Ange and the team will have any thoughts of Sevco in their heads .

  2. Just like the boycott of Celtic merchandise was futile, so is the boycott of CQN.

Both harm the very vehicle they claim to care for.

Does anyone really think Celtic or Paul 67 would be swayed.

I hope and trust Big Jimmy will be reinstated, but a boycott . ????????

The WGS regeneration — 2005/06 was very similar to this season.

New faces / big squad shake up / new belief = footballing progress.

The big issue in 2004/05 is that we just didn’t know how far we had fallen.

Aging squad with no planning for new blood.

Over paid squad losing their earlier focus.

    Talisman away and no replacement.

    Manager wanting to be elsewhere.

    Deteriorating finances.

BQ brought in to be the designated grown up.

Not a great place to be and that was before the mobile snafu..

The come down from Seville was difficult in a huge number of ways.

The lack of desire / ambition to reach for the stars again a huge disappointment.

The exec level let us down — MO@N had broken DD’s heart and how we would pay for it.

2003/04 was there for the taking — JMcF was the totem we were needing.

LM was the surprise no-one knew anything about.

We got / kept both then we were on our way.

When it came to playing VR in the EuL — SP was the only dynamic element of the team.

Three months after leaving M/well he was our energy and intensity.

Team was on its uppers 14 moths before that Sunday.

Looking back it looks like BB’s handball at Lyon burst the team.

HL — for once — seemed angry that his efforts were being negated by others.

Situations like this are where MO’N should have earned his wages.

Sorting out the frictions within the team.

Never happened — they just got worse.

Barca was good but it was their miss rather than our gain.

I mentioned earlier DD should have been highlighting liquidation and the continuity myth when they started banging on about “55”. On reflection that would have been portrayed as sour grapes. Highlighting it now when we’re on top is perfect timing.

  7. A BIG thank you to ALL the GOOD Guys on here who have supported my return to the Blog in recent weeks via their Posts on here, and/or the great supportive Texts that I have received etc

Too many to mane them all, but you KNOW who you are.

I realise my return to CQN will not be met with any great joy by some on here, but THAT is THEIR Problem…NOT Mine.

One such Troll/Chump PREDICTED last Month that ” I had NAE CHANCE” of being reinstated to CQN…in one of his abusive Posts.

How WRONG he was…yet again !

    LOL.

I have taken notes on those who have Posted abuse and their ” Bad Mouthing” of me during my absence.

Some Trolls have even, been Posting a whole lot of CRAP about ” WHY” I was banned, and WRONGLY ASSUMING the reason, so it was SO FUNNY to lurk and read their uninformative rantings. WHEN I didnt know why I was Banned…how could these Chump Trolls Post ANY correct information of it ?

NONE of them had a CLUE what they were Posting about !

A whole lot of Made Up Crap.

    LOL.

HH to ALL the Good Guys on here.

  8. Welcome back Big Jimmy

Feels a bit like that lassie getting out of Iran and then folks realised there were others who didn’t have campaigners.

Do we have others in the wilderness?

    What about B……only joking😎

A list of posters asking for something from Paul is interesting.

I would respect the poster who submits a pledge of what he can do for Paul / the blog.

“I, the undersigned, agree to abide by the rules of the blog. Namely, to avoid offensive language and personal insults.”

Now, that would be a list of merit.

    ——

    I agree 100% -’nuff said.

    ……….

For the SAKE of CLARITY… to those two Posters above ( and others in recent times), I was neither advised by Paul to ” Apologise” or offer up ANY kind of ” Apology” during our discussions Today….NEITHER was I advised to sign some sort of “PLEDGE” either, so BOTH the above Posters are also completely WRONG in their assessments….

    NUFF SAID….LOL.

    Continuity runs through the statement.

Good and bad in my experience,

We learn,we adjust and go on.

He knows how close 1994 came nearly.

Our majority shareholder mentions history, its continuity and liquidation,as important,in our market, those words ask questions that divide reality and delusion. You don’t get to become a billionaire dealing in delusion.🤣

There is a lot in there blogger.

But DD talking yon way is significant.most definitely.

    Hun reaction,lovely,ignore the warning.

    Tips for the National?

    ……………..

NOT a ” Tip” you understand, just my fancy.

The Top Weight ” MINELLA TIMES” who WON the race last year is my main fancy. again superb Irish Jockey Rachel Blackmore will be on board as she was last year.

The horse is carrying a lot more weight than last year, but maybe some Pundits have forgotten ” How well and how far” it won by last year. I have backed it at 16/1 and 14/1 in ANTE POST Bets in the last few weeks, but I see tonight on BET365 it is only ” 8/1″ joint favourite, so there has been a lot of money on it Today ?

    I love wee Rachel.

    HH.

  13. Great to see you posting BIG JIMMY.

Oh and you haven’t lost it!

  14. Big Jimmy,

Delighted to see you back big mhan, but please remember you don’t need to be over the top all the time to be liked & welcomed.

Keep it calm and together we’ll chat & enjoy our Celtic and together we will witness one of our most cherished Titles since we stopped the ten.

Spot on Paul. Not only 04-05. In 08-09 we won at Ibrox then dropped five points out of six and lost the league by four. In 10-11 we beat Rangers 3-0 then lost at Motherwell and lost the league by a point.

I doubt if Ange will be giving history lessons though. It will be about keeping the run going and pushing for improvement. As it always should be.

So, the big cheese fronts up for a grilling from, er, Celtic TV….. Spot the flaw there!

Usual waffle but with a playing-to -the-gallery line about his great-club-with-great-history. Maybe hacked off about the Sydney cancellation?

Great to know that the ambition of the club is not to get liquidated. Forget the 18 years of failure in Europe – as long as we are one up on partner club!

The manager of the club over the last 20 years has always decided on the players to bring in. Not the board, not anyone else.

    Hmmmmmmmm……….

Most of the rest of it sounds like he is reading a transcript of a Neil Lennon interview!

  17. !!Bada Bing!! on

I wonder if there’s talks behind the scenes, for the huns to say they won’t take tickets for the game at CP? The masons on our Board will try and give them a soft landing here…..
