History is our team talk

330

Job done, we have had a week of celebration and back slapping.  Meanwhile, in Perth, a squad are playing for their livelihoods, playing to make mortgage payments and ensure they have a wage come July.

St Johnstone may be second bottom of the league, but their last defeat was four games ago, narrowly to Newco, they have beaten Hearts, and taken draws at Pittodrie and Easter Road in the last two months.  The gap to St Mirren and safety has narrowed to six points; tomorrow we face a side with momentum.

One of football’s endearing lessons to me arrived in April 2005.  We went to Ibrox and won 1-2, the mood was similar to what it is right now, as we thought we had done the difficult work.  A home game against Tony Mowbray’s Hibs was up next.

There were all sorts of rumours of what went wrong that day, but the upshot is that a poor Hibs side left Glasgow with a 1-3 win.  Celtic lost the title by a a single point three weeks later.  No one saw that outcome after the win at Ibrox.

If you think tomorrow is all about celebrating what happened on Sunday, let me dissuade you.  If we beat St Johnstone, we will have to show even greater appetite than we know they will have.  For this one, history is our team talk.

I’ve been out this morning and not had a chance to catch up with Dermot Desmond’s subtle musings. Maybe next week.

This is one of the few Friday night’s in Prestonpans anyway. Normally in the static in Aberfoyle and internet is pish.

But reflecting what I said, may do a gig when home on possible Fridays, give a unexpected treat.

Think last time, ten questions at five minute interval. A draw has a shot out, that was the contentious part , was funny got it in the neck😱

Just wasn’t sure if there was time to petition courts e g. Friday lunch time .. to get client released with a view to returning on Monday with his lawyer

  6. Back in and just read the dispiriting news on Ron Bacardi’s cancer returning. You will have even more support than last time from posters on here, including my own feeble efforts.

I trust the stories from the cancer survivors on here will give you strength and comfort.

look forward to your continued posting

Meanwhile the banning and reinstatement of Big Jimmy will remain – along with the signings of Boerrigter, Blinker, Kapo and Du Wei – as another of life’s great mysteries.

I can’t recall any specifics about the Guardian Murray’s involvement on matters concerning Resolution 12, but I’m sure they would’ve been slanted against Celtic…the man’s arseholic utterances are well known.

Celtic Mac…I’ve always found Sky’s Murray to be well informed and easy on the ear. Commentators are a bit Marmite-like…for example, I can’t handle the far too excitable Liam McLeod on shortbread nor BT’s Rory Hamilton, whose every commentary sounds as if he’s on hun tv…

  10. Ron,

you are in my thoughts, I’ve just finished chemo and radiotherapy myself snd have a scan later this month to find out how successful the treatment has been

I found so many good people during my time at the Beatson, both staff and patients that helped get me through the tough days

The support on CQN also made me feel I wasn’t going through this on my own,

    Take care

Thank God my threat of an immature, selfish and self-defeating boycott did not produce any results at all and that your release was purely coincidental after all these long weeks.😀

  19. I am hoping that ANGE throws wee KYOGO right into the starting X1 for tomorrow, and maybe we can get 60 minutes out of him ?

Big GMAK looked knackered at the end of the Huns game, although I am sure as I can be, that he is also fighting fit and very keen to hang on to a starting place for tomorrow.

Wee KYOGO puts the fear of God into the opposition …..He even scares ME as to how good he can be !

I would FAKE a Pre Match Injury, if my auld managers told me to ” MAN MARK” wee KYOGO….Scary stuff.
