“I brought Charles Green in to buy Rangers”

851

“I brought Charles Green in to buy Rangers” screams the BBC headline ahead of this evening’s interview by Chris McLaughlin of the Last King of Rangers, Our Hero, Craig Whyte.  Whyte has retained private contact with a couple of journalists but he has previously declined earnest requests to go on the record given the level of investigation he is under.  The wrong word could be costly.

But here it is, “I brought Charles Green in to buy Rangers”.  An unequivocal assertion.

The interview will be broadcast on Reporting Scotland and Newsnight Scotland this evening and has been trailed by every outlet in the land (first trailed by Phil Mac Giolla Bhain last night).  There appears to be genuine surprise in many news outlets.  CQN’ers will be busy checking this this is, in fact, news, not a rehash of an earlier established fact (it is genuine news).

It has been a few months since Our Hero was The Only Show in Town but he can still put on a captivating performance.

Charles Green has yet to respond but he will.  He has no choice.  He could categorically deny the claim, citing Whyte’s court-established reliability, but to do that he’ll have to calculate that corroborating material will not emerge.  The wrong word now could torpedo hopes of a successful share issue next month

A bombastic statement from well-polished PR people is what’s needed.  I hope we’re not disappointed.

“I brought Charles Green in to buy Rangers”.  Kaboom!

  1. Hen1rik – i emailed Clyde to complain about banning the bold Terry and ended up communicating with Loraine herbitson? Anyway, she said that at one time they almost had to get legals involved because of Terry; this was years ago and i assumed this was due to the McCurry debacle when Terry asserted that Mccurry was either incompetent or a cheat. that’s the same McCurry who was a minister and married yet horsing burds in various parking lots:0)

I countered that I have never known Terry to tell lies and as such, assuming Clyde had decent legal councel, any case would be a slam dunk. We agreed to disagree.

So all the subterfuge of Bill NG, Bill Miller, The Blue Knights, etc preferred bidder status was a load of crap as Chuckles has been around talking to Duff & Phelps since February. Admin started on the 14th February in case anyone forgets.

At the same time RFC were nursed to the end of the season without ever offloading any players!!!

Matey i don’t listen either to it anymore they have an agenda and its to praise Sevco and roast Celtic.

Give you an example: last year Neil was going through a patchy time with results and Gordon Daziel said its a results driven business and I’m sorry i don’t like people getting the sack but he must go.

Ally McCoist going through exactly the same this year and guess what he says he needs time it’s the players fault.

I then called SSB and the gentleman who picks up phone strangely asked what my point was so i said i want to know why Daziel wanting Neil sacked last year but not Ally and guess what i didn’t get on.

I believe that particular hurdle was renamed by the SFA as the “Proper and Fit Test” –

  12. When ever i hear about more bad news for the Sevconians I find it VERY VERY easy to wind them up….and thats without saying a word.

I usually walk into the club and select my target. I order my Budweiser (cos it can only be budweiser) and once served I ever so casually walk towards my prey. n seeing me approach I notice him readying himself for what he thinks will be some sort of remark. But no……..tis better to approach and LOOK as though you are about to say something….then look him straight in the eye. Hold that gaze…..hold…..hold…..hold…..for around 5 seconds…..then turn around and find a fellow Tim to talk to……Believe me…..it kills them. Please remember….if attempting this……STIFLE that laugh.

Old Rangers set for liquidation as administration process ends

    ‘Oldco’ liquidation

Paul Clarke said the liquidation would not affect the new club in Division 3

The former Rangers Football Club is to be put into liquidation after creditors approved an end to the administration process which began on 14 February.

Administrators Duff and Phelps will now apply to the Court of Session to have BDO appointed as liquidators.

The club, which was formed in 1872, was placed in administration over over non-payment of tax totalling about £14m.

HM Revenue and Customs blocked a CVA (creditors agreement) that would have allowed the old club to continue.

Following this, Duff and Phelps oversaw a sale of assets to the Sevco consortium led by Charles Green for £5.5m.

    Name change

Shareholders in the old Rangers subsequently gave their approval for Sevco to change its name to The Rangers Football Club Limited.

The old club, which remained in administration, has since been known as RFC 2012.

We have co-operated fully with inquiries into our appointment by Lord Hodge at the Court of Session and the Insolvency Practitioners’ Association”

    Paul Clark

    Duff and Phelps

The new club, started by Mr Green’s consortium, began life in the Scottish Third Division.

Announcing moves to end the administration period, joint administrator Paul Clark said: “Creditors have today given their approval for the administrators to bring the administration process to an end and to place the company into liquidation.

“As a result, we as administrators have instructed our legal team to prepare the necessary application for lodging in the Court of Session as a matter of urgency.

“Should the application be approved, then Malcolm Cohen and James Bernard Stephen of BDO will be appointed liquidators of RFC 2012 plc, and will undertake the process of liquidation of the ‘oldco’ company and the continued recovery of funds for creditors.”

Mr Clark said this would not affect the new Rangers “as it is a completely separate entity”.

He added: “As administrators, our primary statutory function was to ensure Rangers continued as a business and this was achieved.

“Secondly, we were tasked to secure a buyer for the club and this too was achieved.

“We are delighted that plans for the revitalisation of Rangers are now continuing with the new owners’ intention to float the club on the AIM market.”

Mr Clark said the administration process had been “comparatively short” and had been handled by Duff and Phelps to “the highest professional standards”.

“We have co-operated fully with inquiries into our appointment by Lord Hodge at the Court of Session and the Insolvency Practitioners’ Association,” he added.

  16. The Moon Bhoys on

Sorry guys, cant see the issue here, what does it matter who brought Charles Green in? He is in and that’s that. Equally, cant see anything to get excites about re the statement “The Rangers” is a completely separate entity from the one that will be liquidated”. We all know that so whats the issue? We’ll say there a new club and they’ll say naw weer no, or worse. All very predictable and nothing to get excited about, maybe I’m missing something.

  17. The Sevco saga reminds me of one of those whodunits that one reads when on holiday or an Inspector Morse Mystery on the tele. There are so many plots and sub-plots that I usually lose interest and bin the book or turn off the tele.

The three main impressions I get are that:

1/ Charlie boy is not long for Glasgow.

2/ Ticketus did not take a £27m hit by being conned by Whyte.

3/ Walter will reappear in some form.

I also think that somewhere in all of this Sir David Murray sits in the background stroking a white Persian cat as he watches his cunning plan unfold.

However this does not worry me as to date all cunning plans have unravelled due to the complete incompetence of the stout manager who is unrivalled at losing important games.

Truly a confederacy of dunces, but a fascinating one to watch.

Now that Ole Googly’s back, the chuckling chump will have to put up or shut up. Swally can’t get on with Elbows, Bomber will demand the deeds, BDO will start lifting the patio and Sevco will go down faster than a whale’s jobby.
