If this is the acceptable standard, SFA are welcome to it

Our man on the inside, Charlie Green, seems to have upset a few people over the weekend.  Charlie was playing to the gallery with his “bigotry” comment; it is not credible that the 35 clubs who voted against providing Sevco access to an elevated league are demographic significantly different from those of Rangers (1872/3).  Although, there is a good chance that each of those 35 clubs will have a more mixed profile than the former club.

Green is still fending off interest from people with far greater pull with the Rangers (1872/3) support than he has (genuinely hope he succeeds here).  He needs to sell tens of thousands of tickets to prevent his new club slipping into the hands of one of the other consortiums still trying to buy a piece of the action.  I always caution Celtic from playing to the gallery, it delivers short term populism but is surely the alternative to a strategic plan. I am sure several clubs will express their alarm at these comments to the SFA.

Unfortunately, since the SFA failed to take action on either of Ally McCoist’s earlier inflammatory outbursts so they can expect more of the same from Green and others.

Attempts are being made to convince thousands of people a bigoted bogeyman has been out to get them.  99% of the target population will do no more than complain loudly but it’s the unpredictable >1% who exist in every community we should be concerned about.

To the best of my knowledge no Scottish club has ever accused others of bigotry, not even during ‘that’ 80 year period.  If this is the new acceptable standard, the SFA are welcome to it, but it will be better for all if we go elsewhere to play our football.  Our game has been potent for a century but it has now become dangerously unstable.

Let us go now, before this is whipped up any more.  Anyone wanting to hold Scottish football together in its current form has a lot of explaining to do.

Early exposure for MrD to shape his future thoughts !.

  8. I was in Bairds on Saturday ,the talk of the bar was that we had only sold 25,000 season tickets.

How anybody knows that in Bairds is beyond me.

What is clear is that we need our fans to buy season tickets.

    So if you haven’t.

    Celtic Need You Now.

If you can afford a ticket ,then please buy one.

Celtic need your financial support more than ever.

Hi Mate not sure that the 25,000 is near the mark. I bought 2 ST for me and my son

back in June and I struggled to get 2 seats together. The lad I was talking to said that there was not many seats left together and only a few thousand single seats.

I got the impression that we were ahead of last year.

  12. Just dropped in to say that….

The ST malarky started when the huns brought in the beast in 1986.

The huns thought that – Entrapment by ST – was a great idea as, this

was the ONLY way to see an OF game. Celtic followed suit when Fergus

took control. Fast forward to today and, folk are starting to realise that

they don’t have to buy a ST anymore as there are NO OF games.

    I’ll get my coat.

An hour into it and I cant take any more of these morons. I hope that show goes the same way as DJ’s real radio. Beyond a joke! An insult to the intelligence.

Oh btw keevins..Celtics season books are at 45000, so we’ve not suffered as you say, with ‘many not renewing due to no Rnagers’. Lazy lazy journo, do some research first.

Good high levels of season ticket sales are good for Celtic.

I hope our fans continue to buy them in there droves because it helps Celtic ,bigtime.

You post leads me to believe that you don’t hold this point of view?

  16. I suspect him you love to hate reviews sites such as this and will be delighted with the number of mentions he receives. Good or bad they’re all welcome.

  17. tomtheleedstim on

A bloke on KDS counted up the available spaces for season tickets and reckoned we have sold 38,000 which is down on last year.

I have no idea how accurate this is but would be a bit disappointed if that is the case.

  18. If Celtic have ST sales in excess of 40,000 they should advertise that fact.

    Positivity breeds positivity.

  19. Put aside the debate of sanctions for dual contracts, and whether the rules are implemented ‘without fear or favour’. The objective now should be to establish the legality of the use of the name ‘Rangers’. The suggestion is that only a creditor may raise a court action to prevent the continued use of that name. I have still to be convinced that is the only option available to raise a court order to prohibit the name.

In the event that a court prevents the use of their historical name; the end game would be swift.

A liquidated High Street store could be prevented from returning to trade under the same name by a rival store looking to cash in at their rivals expense. It’s not impossible that same principle could apply to a football league. Within a few weeks of the RFC administration; there was a brazen attempt by Kilmarnock FC to build the Rugby Park brand as “the people’s club”, they obviously foresaw the opportunity to attract a certain type to Rugby Park in the event of a nuclear event elsewhere, their stripy scarves are the same after all, it would be a shame to see them gathering stour.

Unfortunately the stoury scarves were back oot yesterday at Brechin.

More seriously, if that we are genuine in condemnation of the shenanigans to keep them afloat; the torpedoes should be armed via a court order to obliterate the RFC name as a brand.

Surely the issue of a ‘prohibited name’ is not so difficult a nut to crack.

To date, there has been no desire to play hardball, there must be a legal mind out there wiling to step up to the plate?

By the way, I am not suggesting that (ahem) Kilmarnock FC would raise any objections to the continued use of the RFC name.

    Keep on keepin’ on
