If this is the acceptable standard, SFA are welcome to it

Our man on the inside, Charlie Green, seems to have upset a few people over the weekend.  Charlie was playing to the gallery with his “bigotry” comment; it is not credible that the 35 clubs who voted against providing Sevco access to an elevated league are demographic significantly different from those of Rangers (1872/3).  Although, there is a good chance that each of those 35 clubs will have a more mixed profile than the former club.

Green is still fending off interest from people with far greater pull with the Rangers (1872/3) support than he has (genuinely hope he succeeds here).  He needs to sell tens of thousands of tickets to prevent his new club slipping into the hands of one of the other consortiums still trying to buy a piece of the action.  I always caution Celtic from playing to the gallery, it delivers short term populism but is surely the alternative to a strategic plan. I am sure several clubs will express their alarm at these comments to the SFA.

Unfortunately, since the SFA failed to take action on either of Ally McCoist’s earlier inflammatory outbursts so they can expect more of the same from Green and others.

Attempts are being made to convince thousands of people a bigoted bogeyman has been out to get them.  99% of the target population will do no more than complain loudly but it’s the unpredictable >1% who exist in every community we should be concerned about.

To the best of my knowledge no Scottish club has ever accused others of bigotry, not even during ‘that’ 80 year period.  If this is the new acceptable standard, the SFA are welcome to it, but it will be better for all if we go elsewhere to play our football.  Our game has been potent for a century but it has now become dangerously unstable.

Let us go now, before this is whipped up any more.  Anyone wanting to hold Scottish football together in its current form has a lot of explaining to do.

Aw Naw – didn’t see your comments about K-HR. How is he percieved in Germany, where the football model appears to be working compared to the rest of Europe?

I suspect that green has a big problem with stadium ownership, and it could, therefore, suit his ‘asset stripping’ plan to have sevco fail to gain a license before the Liquidator / FTT step in, ? …… (possible reason for his anti-SFA rant yesterday)….? Further evidence of this scenario might be found in the fact that the SFA have only given them a temporary license until ownership of the stadium is disclosed by green ..?…. If he doesn’t own the stadium, then the game’s up…….

Would be grateful if any of you bhoys could clarify my understanding……

Anyway we will know by this time next week.

If sevco get a license I predict a meltdown. The product will appear like a ton of rotten fish. The blazers are too expensive to keep on.

The only attraction is the hope of a new positive era … If they knock it on the head..nothing changes …any way they dress it up.

  6. Could not agree more Paul67. Why cant Celtics board instigate a Euro league with the big club from the small countries ? Namely Celtic, Porto, Benfica, Sporting Lisbon, Ajax, Feyenoord, PSV, Anderlecht, Club Brugge, FC Copenhagen, Rapid Vienna, Basel, Wislaw Krakov, Lech Posnan, Legia Warsaw, Galatassary, Fenerbache, etc etc ?

    Difficult question.

He is seen as competent obviously but he is judged with his Bayern hat on. The Germans are getting pretty used to being financially discriminated against within Europe for a long time now so it is nothing new.

He is compromised slightly by Nerlingers EBT.

Interesting – I am with you on a lot of that, and I’m glad you know it wasn’t personal. There was always going to be a natural commonality between what was posted here and there, between what’s tweeted and here and between other sites and here. I’m all for people posting stuff from Twitter and say, images from KDS, as I for one use this as a portal, and certainly when I am on my phone that’s the case – laziness from not being bothered going from site to site. It just got a bit frustrating reading the same points being made, ‘s’all.

And you’re a fine one to talk about the power of communication with your AweNawing of press articles :-)

I think the perception is enough, he knew what he was saying, no need for Ewing to justify himself, much need for chuck to justify it though, I believe the sfa have asked him for an explanation, not that he will bother mind you, and they will do feck all anyways, same old.

If they dilute it any more it loses its point and if it loses its point so does UEFA and if UEFA goes then so does FIFA and football becomes a regional entertainment governed by franchises and no longer a global sport.I expect both UEFA and FIFA to be well aware of the danger to themselves of failure.

Now failure aint necessarily a bad thing as the US franchise model has demonstrated but at present it is neither fish nor fowl (or is it foul?) as recent events here have shown. The SFA has turned itself inside out trying to be both for sporting merit and business.

I believe all the FAs should be for integrity and the leagues for business with the latter vetting the former to ensure the conditions for fair play exist. The Sevco to the SFL3 deal was accepted by SFL3 not on integrity grounds (it should not have been allowed) but on financial as they saw the benefits accruing to them. Fair doos, but does anyone think Sevco are not going to skoosh both divisions not just because they pay higher wages but because the business of football requires it.Unlikely I know but imagine yesterday’s game needed Rangers to win in 90 to be promoted, what would the chances of a penalty have been?

The SFL clubs will get a taste of what we suffered since 2008 with our ever mounting suspicion not to mention our normal suspicion before that. So I’m grateful for the two year absence of unfairness not playing that mob will bring, but when they are back what is to stop them carrying on as normal?

Only good governance can do that and the last thing we have is good governance, which is why if Celtic cannot escape the integrity desert, we have to make sure the SFA are replaced by a professional set up who know their prime aim is to uphold integrity and carry out that role so that the game can never be put in the same position again.

Back on the eurozone I think it is only a matter of time before player wages are brought into line by economics. It has started at Malaga where the sugar daddy is apparently more CW than DD in terms of wealth.

Hope we get them in the CL Groups, what a night that would be eh?
