CALLUM McGREGOR declared himself “delighted” after his display in the 4-1 romp against Hearts.

The Hoops playmaker admitted he is under pressure to perform at the highest level to remain in Brendan Rodgers’ plans.

Olivier Ntcham arrived in a £4.5million deal from Manchester City in the summer around the same time teenager Kundai Benyu sealed a move from Ipswich.

And Eboue Kouassi, the Ivorian midfielder who cost £2.8million from Russian outfit Krasnador in the January transfer, has also joined a queue of player who can perform in the middle of the park.

But McGregor said: “It’s a big squad with more people coming in and, as I’ve said before, you have to be at the top of your game to play in this team.

“That’s what I will try to do every time I am playing.

“I’m happy with the Hearts result and a great start to the season.

“On a personal note, I was delighted with an assist and a goal.”

McGregor added: “Hearts came and sat in as we thought they would.

“But we played well, opened them up and stuck the ball in the back of the net.”
