NEIL LENNON has called upon his Celtic players to keep their focus as they prepare for this afternoon’s Betfred League Cup Final at Hampden.
There has been a lot of noise about how much a debut silverware success would mean to Steven Gerrard, but the Hoops boss has declared he is not one bit interested in what is happening at Ibrox.
The Irishman has kept his eye on the ball as he plots to guide them to their TENTH domestic honour during their historic sequence of triumphs on the home front.
Lennon, speaking to the Daily Mail, stressed: “We have our focus, our ideas on why we want to win, regardless of what it means to Rangers. It’s irrelevant to me.
“It’s just another game with a trophy at the end of it. We don’t take it for granted, you can see the players don’t take it for granted.”
The Parkhead chief has already got one over on the Liverpool legend this season after piloting the side to a 2-0 Premiership victory in Govan on September 1 when Odsonne Edouard and Jonny Hayes got the goals that inflicted the only domestic defeat on their

Asked about how different the opposition may be from the one that was overturned three months ago, he replied: “I’ve no idea.
“I’m not concerned about Rangers. It’s not my team and I don’t see them every day in training.
“Are they a better team with him (Alfredo Morelos) in it? He scores a lot of goals and is a good player. I can’t comment on whether they are a better team or not.
“I think they’ve improved, but we have improved, as well, and I think the performances and results back that up.”
He added: “We’re two points clear, but I don’t think it’s going to have any impact on this game. You have to take the game in isolation.
“It’s a Cup Final. We have our players, our tactics , our set-up and we are hoping that will be enough on the day.”
