Israeli recruiting anchor

965

Anchoring to a distant geographical base is not intuitively how you would expect a football club to recruit but Celtic are clearly working their contacts in Israel these days.  Beram Kayal has worked out well in the two and a half years since joining from Maccabi Haifa, as has Nigeria international, Efe Ambrose, who joined from Israeli club Ashdod in the summer.

Neil Lennon recently mentioned he needed cover for left back (despite right-footed Adam Matthews performing heroics there against Barcelona), so it is no surprise that Israel international Rami Gershon is in town today.  Gershon has played less than a dozen games for Standard Liege since leaving Israel three years ago, although he was a regular pick for loan club Kortrijk.  Should he sign he will be a low-risk addition to the squad but he has almost certainly received commendation from the same sources who recommended Kayal and Ambrose.

Best of luck to Rabiu Ibrahim, who left for Kilmarnock after promising much but delivering little as a prodigy at Sporting and PSV Eindhoven.  He was the low-risk addition of last January.  You’ve got to kiss a lot of frogs……

    CK,

I too was at Henrik’s last league game at Paradise. Unforgettable. Paid a small fortune to get there. Money well spent. Cried big tears.

The goal he scored against Rangers at CP will live with us forever.

    A work of art.

I am beginning very slowly. Maybe to slowly coming to the conclusion that I might be to impious and naturally inquisitive to be accepted as a member of the Celtic family according to the gospel of our present custodians. I feel my natural position to trust them being slowly but steadily eroded and winning the CL for the next five years in a row will not quell that queasy feeling.

    No.

Dont get me wrong. I support Celtic to see football played the Glasgow Celtic but I am a tim first and foremost. I think that ideal is what the club wants to stamp out and replace it with charitable minded customers that will help the PR drive. That does not sit well with me. We are not just about charity imho but fairness and justice. Those seem to be easily and to readily abandoned by the club and large swathes of our support. I am trying to work out why ? 10 CL in a row will not replace that. I think I am a silly romantic who is clinging onto the past and should lighten up.

  16. One of life’s regrets…..went to a game good few years ago , can’t remember who against. Took one of our esteemed posters Teuchtar Ar La who was on a visit home from Canada.

Now Teuchtar as I did thought Henrik was the greatest and this was his first time seeing Henke in the flesh.

A comfortable home win followed and with 10 mins to go I pestered the bold Teuchtar to head for the Charlie and a few swallies……yep u guessed it, walking along the concourse underneath the North stand and the roar went up!!! I silently prayed not to here the Magnificent 7 tune as I knew I was in for a major hard time from Teuchtar.

Of course the famous tune blasted out and guilt ridden I skulked off to the boozer.

Luckily Teuchtar was able to witness many more Henrik goals in future years but never tires of reminding me I deprived him of his first Henke goal!

Hail Hail Teuchtar, we had a good night though !

Being a charitable organisation has never changed

But Celtic have to compete in a football world

where we are disadvantaged because of sense fairness.

  18. G64-that goal in the 6-2 game is the best goal i have seen from anyone in a Celtic jersey.hh

My King of Kings moment –

Saw Celtic FC arriving in Dublin Airport. HL had only just signed that summer. I shook hands with Wim and wished him good luck. Never went over to Henrik.

    I had no defence.

  23. Why do we call ipox castle grayskull,?..that was the good guy’s gaff

It is the target of numerous attacks by Skeletor, Hordak and the Snake Men, all of whom believe that the secrets inside will allow them to conquer Eternia and become the titular masters of the universe.

Now Snake Mountain, that’s more like it,

It is located on the Dark Hemisphere of Eternia and is home to the villainous, skull-faced Skeletor. It is later revealed to have once been home to the Snake Men. Its defining feature is its snake-like shape, hence the name.

No lectures, if folk do not know what constitutes good and bad behaviour after a bit of living then a lecture is a waste of time.

However I thought most folk know that two whatabouteries did not make a rightaboutery.
