It’s all about shape

104

I thought the initial line-up yesterday left us open to a few risks.  A lot of responsibility was handed to Liam Henderson and Gary Mackay-Steven – and it was St Johnstone, no one’s mugs.

They caused the trouble we should have expected until the Cavalry arrived.

Once they got their focal point, Celtic were irresistible.  The passing was fast and accurate, the movement, sublime, the finishing, unforgiving.  Lustig’s rabona, to McGregor’s back-heel, for Dembele’s first-time finish was an appropriate end to an exquisite move.

It’s all about the shape.  When Moussa came on yesterday we saw a great example of how a tiny change in the shape of a team can transform their effectiveness.  This phenomenon is rife in the game but we seldom see as clear an example.  You watch Leicester drop from champions to relegation candidates, or Ronny’s Celtic crumble in the face of a passport, while the same players take points in Germany and England, the changes are too subtle to detect.

This game will live long in the memory for the penalty we got but shouldn’t have, but that incident was drowned in an avalanche of goals.  What was missed in all the post-match analysis was Keith Watson’s push on Nir Bitton a second before he headed St Johnstone’s equaliser.  Nir was shoved just as he was preparing to leap, as a consequence, Watson headed unchallenged.  Another one the referee missed.

Now we get to rest for a week and train normally before the Scottish Cup game against Inverness.  This is a rarity, the winter-break aside, we have played two games per week since the middle of November.

If you are a student of physiology, you’ll expect Celtic to kick-on now and really improve.

The nazi concentration camps were filled with jews and gypsies and reds not with Prussian elites.

*correct, I had many a late night drink with a former POW who was in a concentration camp, not a death one, but a camp for the likes of those you mentioned as well as adversaries like him who had incurred their wrath in the POW camps. He was one of the few that survived and only because the war came to an end, he also helped liberate the “death” camps with the septic tanks.

Kiernan knew what he was doing when he signed for that shower. The amount of abuse that has come his way from those abstards is no shock for myself and many who contribute to this site. This “club” has had no qualms about it’s sectarian policy, the Judas signing was cosmetic in its own right,so called ‘fans’ burning season ticket books vowing not to return until normality was restored.Other instances, like Basil Boli, told not to bless himself because……..Well because it would upset the fans, the same fans that would be paying his wages. The klaxon horn that was to be used to drown out vile and disgusting songs from vile and disgusting louts. If RCS want to go and play for “them”, they must remember what they are signing up to.Anyone who does not know what ‘they’ represent well……….OSTRICH…Springs to mind.

I think “hooky” was the nickname of John Mcphail.

*When I was a wee bhoy my da used tae sing “how much is that doggie in the window, the one that’s like big John McPhail” tae the tune of a popular patti Page song of the time.

I cannae recall seeing him play although I most probably did but I did meet him at Boghead before a SC ¼ final match between Dumbarton and Raith, he was “covering” the game for the record.

It’s all about selling season tickets next time. So a change of managers is paramount. They desperately need a new motivation for their season ticket holders to purchase. That’s what the “Get Warbuton” headlines are for por cierto

    Of course!

I guess even that lot wouldn’t be duped by “going for 55” again!

I think you might have got that one right.

In terms of who would take it – I reckon any RRM would jump at it.

They probably don’t have a clue about how much of a mess it is – nobody there can reconcile the fact that all the success the old club had was down to spending money that wasn’t theirs!

  5. Paul67,

My mate saw that incident at their first goal. I didn’t see it myself (and, in fact, I said I couldn’t see anything wrong).

By the way, my Dad, who unfortunately has too often to rely on the Record for his football information, was fuming at Tommy Wright earlier. I guess the rag twisted his words to suit their agenda.
