“People don’t realise how hard he trains or how much he works at it” – Kieran Tierney, talking about Leigh Griffiths. Therein lies a story. One young player, who has worked enormously on his development, recognising the efforts of our other clear success story from this season.
Anyone who believes there is a consistency in the application at training of professional footballers is misinformed. Some are there early and/or stay late to work on their own. Some breeze in at the last minute and never hang around to run, lift or practice with a ball after formal training ends.
The club provides players with breakfast and lunch, but can’t monitor their evening meals or snacks. Or more. Some don’t need to be monitored, others do.
In three months we’ll watch thousands of dedicated athletes, swimmers and sportspeople of many disciplines, pretty much all who work on their development 24×365. Some live lives in the margin of early rises and hermit-like lifestyles. Most footballers live a different reality.
Things are changing at Celtic – and have been going on since before the Ronny era. Players like Kieran Tierney have been brought up to understand the importance of lifestyle and hard work. For years, young players’ attitude has been a major factor in determining if Celtic will retain their services.
Success is not just about inherent genius.

Winning Captains, nose to the wheel, shoulder to the grind stone and all of that, good luck to all..
One question, cynical though it may sound, it’s not meant as such, but when?
Before or after ST renewal?
Someone mentioned Pablophanque the othet day. I came acoss a little piece by Hilaire Belloc, Chesterton’s great friend.
“For no one, in our long decline,
So dusty, spiteful and divided,
Had quite such pleasant friends as mine,
Or loved them half as much as I did.”

The three games I’ve watched so far this week have been pash…thank feck I recorded corrie:)
Did Dev finally score ?
Why is it in Lawwell’s interest to protect the existing “Old Firm” brand?
There will always be some incarnation of “Rangers”. It will be whatever the Hun hordes follow.
You could kill the holding company, kill the club, flatten Ibrokes, kill Rangers (IL) and then The Rangers and then Rangers lll, but the hordes will cling on to something, and that will be “Rangers”
So given that some form of “Rangers” will always be, and will eventually be back in the same league as us, Lawwell and co could just use their legendary business acumen to rebrand as “New Old Firm”
It’s an easy pitch for Sky et al.
Coming soon……………. Bigger than…………. Better than……… Old Old Firm…………. It’s New Old Firm…… And this time it’s serious.
Now with even more simmering resentment……… “Rangers” are “back”………. And this time they are really hurtin’.
Old Old Firm was tame, Old Old Firm was child’s play.
New Old Firm……… There can only be one. ;)

It’s actually Steve’s birthday today and his anniversary is 1st of May

It’s Pablophanque’s birthday today. He suffered stroke on his birthday I think.
Sips..,
Used to be you couldn’t go to Celtic park and no believe in magic, cynicism kills magic and that’s where we are now, it spoils everything, every game you watched this week had moments of magic in them, you missed it because you have been infected.
It’s the guardians job to make sure the magic stays, they can still achieve this but they need to loose their own cynicism first.
They need to force the magic back into the game else the sport will never be a sport again.
Well done the young Celts. Showing the non-tryers of the senior team the kind of scudding they should’ve handed out last week. Drove past Edmiston Drive 10 mins ago and there were plenty of tripping faced h*ns coming out to their cars. Excellent.
Re the blog, I do wonder what matters of state will be given due consideration tomorrow. The quality of the half time pie? Whether we should have white or green goal nets next season? It is beginning to look like there is no grand Plan B. Just Plan A. Otherwise known as the stadium emptying plan. I hope I’m wrong, but I’ve got that sinking feeling.

Spoke to old Tim yesterday and he said he hasn’t heard from you in a while.
BT
Ask him same question in one hour :-)
Good man
Pablophanque, rip
His birthday today, sad
Him and roccobhoy were the first 2 cqn members I met. Lovely lads. Roccobhoy is happily still with us, though he doesn’t post much these days.
Pablo was a gent,
More mundane matters I have been given good word for Jazzy in the 4.00 at Chepstow tomorrow big price at the moment. Best of luck
Lost pretty much all interest in both the EPL and ECL. Both are corporate borefests increasingly aimed at the “Asian market” (yawn). Just read Mats Hummels wants to leave BVB for Bayern of Munchen next season. You would never have seen that kind of club disloyalty when I was growing up. Kinda sums up the modern game. Nae soul.
Well done the young Hoops in pumping the huns 4-0.
Didn’t even know the game was on tbh.
Liam Henderson’s wee brother Ewan played.
HH!!
Now that is serendipity. I enjoyed his posts and music.A good man,and it showed in his posts.
Well done to the young Celts tonight, another great win.
Hope our three players who made Scotland’s Euro Finals squad in Azerbaijan this summer, Aidan McAdams, Broque Watson and Jack Aitchison, enjoy themselves there.
It would be churlish not to hope that the six Sevconians from tonight’s massacre, who are in the same squad, recover from their disappointment and do Scotland proud.

Will always remember coming home from the Dundee utd match… decided to go to the Cambus for a beer and Sunday lunch .. just as the waitress put my food on the table my phone beeped … Helen text me to let me know stevie had passed away
Got up and left immediately
That bugger Pablo better stand me a lunch when I meet him again.
Never knew that
Happy birthday Pablophanque we shared a day all our lives, I bet he was one handsome dude too.
RIP Pablo too good too young, the devil stops the peacemakers early, that’s why God takes the young, well remembered and held dear, only blessings to his love ones, a genuine good ghuy, we could have done worse than have a Pablophanque foundation to compliment the Kano foundation.
Tbj…
You tell me I’ve still to catch up.. :)
CANAMALAR…
Fair point, like most I feel let down regarding what’s happened here and how bad we are playing.
The only magic I see is from young Roberts and he’s not even our player.
Young Teirney looks a star in the making… Will we hold onto him when the vultures circle?
Watched the Leicester game at the weekend and it took me back to the Martin o’Neil era…a strong midfield bullying teams a sold defence and a choice of three quality strikers. :((
Sold =solid…then again, the board probably would if they had them just now.
Peter Latchford’s Belly, Hummels started his career at Bayern .
Sips…..,
You think any of thems there Leicester players were out of our price range or wage range ?
Howmany in their first team squad ?
I am going to ask something daft.
Was there a story behind Steve using the name
Pablophanque
Doescit mean something
Tbj
I was watching the game in St Andrews think it was MWD who called me, just sat there in tears .
Canman
Happy birthday big chap, you in Partick?
TBJ…
Meant to say…grandmaster scud has hung on by the skin of his apron.
Stst..,
Aye but I don’t remember :)
CANAMALAR…
Nope, rather than spread bet .put it on the nose and go for it…twists and turns CFC.

Watch this and weep three times over.
Shed the tear we can never fail to when we heard our anthem in our place.
Break your heart at how our unity has been dissolved from within.
And remember this week YNWA and how the Celtic Family has done so much good so far beyond Glasgow.

“Paul67…. His paymasters at Celtic”
I’ve never met Paul67, and I am far from agreeing with everything he says, but that’s out of line.

You’re not getting it, the longer he gets ignored by P67 the more the vitriol will pour out of him. Now he may have had a couple of good debating points but as per usual it always ends up personal, then the name calling starts. But don’t call him any names though as he doesn’t like that and tells you not to get personal.
Internet puff piece who loves to howl at the moon when he sees any harmony on the board. If you want to read the board in peace, come on when there’s a game on, he’s not that bothered about the football, doesn’t seem to join in when the blog goes down memory lane either but will throw a grenade it now & again to disrupt it…
Good win for the young bhoys tonight .
Always good to see the hoops winning at Ibrox , at any level.
Jack Aitchison looks a great prospect for us. He only turned 16 last month . We saw him play for the under 18’s in February against Valencia , while he was 15. Other than his height , he was as strong as players some three years older than him.
My son is pally with the sev right back who played tonight , they are in the same year at school. Our captain tonight, Lewis Bell, was also in my son’s year but left after second year to go to St Ninian’s in Kirkie .
I saw a tweet from a sev saying how all encompassing they were as they had more Liam’s and Aiden’s than , in his words, the manky mob.
Wits…
Fiver on the nose 11/1…here’s hoping.
JAMESGANG….
Read back earlier and saw your correspondence to JP, hope it doesn’t fall on deaf ears.
What a save.
