JELLE ‘ICE CREAM’ VOSSEN, NO WILSON PLAN…

CELTIC’s interest in former Hearts skipper Danny Wilson has faded as Ronny Deila targets players further up his shopping list. We broke the story that Wilson had been scouted and was of interest to Celtic as a potential signing and we also let you know that Wilson’s dream move to Celtic had faded. Good to see others catching up.

One final word on Wilson: he certainly never took up his option to leave Tynecastle at the end of last season so that he could end up back in the Championship. If he does go back into that division watch the MSM spin the story to say that The Rangers have got one over on Celtic.

Jason Denayer, who performed very well in the two recent Belgium international matches against France and Wales, could be heading to Lyon next season. Denayer, Scotland’s Young Player of the Year, is unlikely to get the first team football he craves at Manchester City. He is likely to be loaned out for another season and early indications were that this would be to an English Championship side. However he performance for the national side against France in a 4-3 victory (Belgium were 4-1 up when Denayer was substituted) has alerted Lyon.

Celtic manager Ronny Deila was keen to keep the Belgian at Parkhead for another campaign, but his hopes were scuppered when his request was knocked back by Manuel Pellegrini. Denayer lifted a Premiership and League Cup winners’ medals, won his first full Belgian cap and was named Scotland’s Young Player of the Year during his 44-game spell in Glasgow. French Ligue 1 side Lyon have been impressed and are ready to offer a season-long deal with City and the player likely to accept.

Meanwhile Celtic have been linked with another Belgian international, Jelle ‘Ice Cream’ Vossen. The 26 year old was on loan to Middlesbrough last season but has now returned to his own club, Genk. Middlesbrough had an option to sign the player but having failed to win promotion to the Premier League, the move looks likely to fall through. The player has scored plenty of goals and could be an interesting summer signing.

Stefan Johansen is a reported summer target for German struggles Hamburg. The Scottish Player of the Year has already stated that he is enjoying life in Glasgow and it would be astonishing if he moved on this summer. Good to see our players attracting interest all the same.
