Johansen becomes second Celtic addition

818

I’ve seen nothing of Stefan Johansen but I’m delighted we have signed a central midfield player.  Deficiencies up front are glaring, especially in the Premiership, but in Europe, the critical area is central mid, where we need to control more than we did this season.

Central midfield protects your defence and provides the foundations strikers stand on, it has been an important area for Celtic to strengthen since losing our top man last summer.

Conversely, Scott Brown is playing his best football since joining Celtic in 2007 but, as his European adventures were nullified by disciplinary action, the gap was unbridgeable.  Honourable mentions should go to Charlie Mulgrew, Beram Kayal and Joe Ledley, but in the case of Charlie and Joe, they were asked to play secondary, or tertiary roles, while Beram was promoted from well down the pecking order to a Champions League starter.

Please observe the usual caveats when a new player arrives.  New club, new city, new tactics, team mates, match officials and game atmosphere, Stefan has a lot to assimilate in the coming weeks.  It took six months for Victor to settle and at least as long before Mikael, Scott and Joe looked their best.

For Stefan and Holmbert Fridjonsson the primary objective of the next six months is to prepare for Champions League qualifiers, closely followed by a Scottish Cup tie against Aberdeen in three weeks.

Welcome to Celtic, Stefan.  You have a fantastic opportunity ahead.

Yes interesting indeed……would have expected someone in the know to confirm or deny their Celtic supporting credentials.

The signing of a new player would normally have me thrilled and excited to see him but the way the board have ‘dealt’ with the GB situation leaves me sad and disillusioned.

Funny how quickly the land deal rebuttals were aired in comparison.

    Let the people sing.

As I’m cashing in a ST this week for a GB member who tells me they are generally chucking it I think its too late to get them back- job done by the SNP, the polis, and the Celtic board

    Lefty.

We used to leave KSC Blantyre at 2.45 and it was death race 1970’s to get in for ko..

Then left ten minutes early so the uncles could get their extra beers before going home.

  5. Ah well. Feel good factor from Turkey and Stefan’s arrival dissipates now we are back talking about the conspiracy theories and an obsession with a bunch of young fellas who, for all their colour and verve, have disappeared up their own self-important jacksies.

Shame but gives the usual suspects an outlet for a good moan. And we love a good moan.

I guess they have worn out the footage of his goal against St Johnstone.

  10. Ok Beeb back on the bad step.

Reporting Johansen they had to show a pic of Harald Brattbakk. Was it his Championship winning goal against St. Johnstone?????? Nope poor Harald missing a penalty. These Bs are at the wind up.

  12. BBC Scotland Huns show their class by editing in a clip of Harald Brattback missing a penalty in reference to Stefan Johansen’s signing and the fortunes of Norwegian players at Parkhead.

Why not show Harald’s TITLE-winning goal in ’98 against St.Johnstone that denied the vermin their precious 10 in a row?

No, because their BBC – Bitter Bigoted Sevconians.

Unlike many others on here, I do hope we get the Zombies in the cup in a future round and let loose on them with our very best CL performance, bagging at least 10 and putting them in their miserable place. With young Stefan grabbing 4 to give the BBC orcs some footage for our next Norwegian signing’s press conference…

What about Celtic bringing the GB back and any political banners then they get banned for good.

I will always be a GB fan but if the club say no political banners then it means no although others may not agree with no political banners but if it gets the club in trouble then it has to stop.

Politics is a part of football whether some like it or not. No banners then no POPPIES, no ARMED FORCES SINGING SECTARIAN SONGS, no 1 minute silence for PASSED POLITICAL LEADERS THAT SUPPORT A CERTAIN AGENDA. Sorry, I forgot everyone else can share their political beliefs through football except the those pesky Irish TERRORISTS (ha!)

The team comes first and foremost. As I said loved the colour but the two fingers up at the house rules and the subsequent fines for the club showed how self indulgent they became.

Come back, rein it in and let’s get back to supporting the team and not obsessing about a bunch of youngsters who are being badly led.

Ideas to fix our game folks.

I’ll kick off with the suggestion of withdrawing clubs ST money to put pressure on ROB to resign from the SFA?

  24. Still puzzles me how a group of fans got so many tickets for an away fixture. The GB had announced earlier that they had messed up by selling tickets to people not in their organisation. Are the fans from the Motherwell area the same group that GB sold tickets to or is this a separate issue?

At the moment there are more questions than answers.

  27. big wavy

Fair do’s but you did say ‘shame’ as it gave the moaners an outlet.

It is a shame, because it’s an issue, and a factor that has contributed

to the empty seats at Celtic Park.

That’s regardless of whether you think the ban is justified, personally

I don’t, and never have from the moment they announced the penalty

    due to Fir Park vandalism.

Some Celtic fans think likewise it’s an issue that hasn’t and isn’t likely

to go away, and there are those that acknowledge the demise of the GB

    was aided by ulterior motives.

We’ve signed a new player and now have daily reminders that there are

empty seats at Celtic Park (BBC).
