Johansen becomes second Celtic addition

818

I’ve seen nothing of Stefan Johansen but I’m delighted we have signed a central midfield player.  Deficiencies up front are glaring, especially in the Premiership, but in Europe, the critical area is central mid, where we need to control more than we did this season.

Central midfield protects your defence and provides the foundations strikers stand on, it has been an important area for Celtic to strengthen since losing our top man last summer.

Conversely, Scott Brown is playing his best football since joining Celtic in 2007 but, as his European adventures were nullified by disciplinary action, the gap was unbridgeable.  Honourable mentions should go to Charlie Mulgrew, Beram Kayal and Joe Ledley, but in the case of Charlie and Joe, they were asked to play secondary, or tertiary roles, while Beram was promoted from well down the pecking order to a Champions League starter.

Please observe the usual caveats when a new player arrives.  New club, new city, new tactics, team mates, match officials and game atmosphere, Stefan has a lot to assimilate in the coming weeks.  It took six months for Victor to settle and at least as long before Mikael, Scott and Joe looked their best.

For Stefan and Holmbert Fridjonsson the primary objective of the next six months is to prepare for Champions League qualifiers, closely followed by a Scottish Cup tie against Aberdeen in three weeks.

Welcome to Celtic, Stefan.  You have a fantastic opportunity ahead.

  1. Went into Ladbrokes to lay a fiver 7 tonight. Tried to do Porto -1 & Man City -1 which they rejected. When I enquired as to why they refused to accept this the assistant said the odd’s are too small. I then asked, well, if those odd’s are too small, then why do you have Porto on the coupon at 1-12 to which he had no reply. Shocked that these vulcher’s can bend n break the rules to suit themselves.

Really ? Go and google green brigade pyros.

Let me know how many you count on the first page alone.

Good grief fella. There’s a rich and complex debate to be had on this subject but see no evil isn’t going to progress it.

  3. Only heard 5 mins but a laugh out loud moment on SnydeSSB.

Caller on about summer football- “the game’s administrators need to get their heads together to make it work”

Frank MacAvennie- dead pan serious- “Ah but but only some clubs have Administrators”.

Pregnant pause- “Different kind of administrators, Frank”

They get paid for this too.

Typical, ask for proof from someone who says they know that the GB do this and have done that and what happens they ask you to prove them right lol. You couldn’t make this up lol

  6. Big Wavy – thank you for the response. I dont believe the GB have been found guilt of Pyros. As for fines I have already explained the position regarding the so called political banner. It is astonishing that free speech is being denied celtic supporters whilst sectarian singing goes on unquestionned at Ibrox.

As for taking themselves seriously – well what has happenned to them is very serious indeed. I hear this a lot mainly from older celtic supporters. What is this – jealousy?

The ship has sailed on the GB and is about to set sail on many celtic supporters. The genie is out of the bottle – celtic are in grave danger of losing its soul. Starving the board of its money is the only answer. They have colluded with the sectarian society we live in. Its unnacceptable and wrong on every level and you are making excuses for it.

  7. Eddie – that’s a cracker. If you’re not a google man try YouTube.

Or hold your hand up, say your wrong and debate the point of view.

You could always try name calling too if that helps deflect.

I’m not saying btw that GB members haven’t used them in the past but if you knew anything about them you would know they told all their members that anyone caught using pryos or fireworks at games would be put out the group.

Looking forward to seeing him adding a bit of dazzle to our midfield.

  11. Lads thanks for the follow & for following TheScottshFaDo it’s about time the SFA are taken to task in this country it’s been going on for far too long now with their corruption.

Our game defo needs a fresh start with fresh ideas & these balloons at the top need to be stopped once and for all.

Do you have any evidence to support your claim that GB broke seats and threw pyros at Motherwell game?

  13. hen1rik – sadly the club you support is propping up the corruption and doing it in your name. I am afraid that these pointless gestures are doomed to fail – boycott celtic and you will get a reaction.

  14. Unfortunately, the Board have been looking to ban the GB for ages.

The Motherwell game provided the smokescreen.

They ain’t bothered about innocence or guilt.

    They simply wanted them out

    Unarguable fact.

The G.B. were a divisive element in the Celtic support. They still are.

    Entryist are divisive,That`s their job.The G.B.succeeded.

    Regrettably they had to go.

Regrettably, because it would have been better had their handlers in the ” Celtic trust ” been banned instead.

Wavy- your posts say that the GB were guilty of pyros and fines for the club- and I cant disagree with that in general- though I’d suggest that your animosity towards fellow tims warrants more consideration than some smoke and a few banners- and you might want to ask where that comes from in a time when we as a group are the self professed target of the current government via the OB bill, where the polis are filming every group of celts who start a song, where the management of the game in Scotland is openly manipulated to accommodate a bunch of tax avoiders, and where the media target groups such as the GB, spreading as much myth as possible and ignoring the truth where they can. Truth like the GB having nothing to do with the Motherwell trouble- nothing to do with pyro’s since agreeing not to with Celtic and guilty of nothing more than a banner highlighting some of this at a European game. People are targeting the Celtic support- and the attitudes of some of our own are helping with that

  19. Neganon

I see my attempt at humour failed.

Guilt and pyros. Don’t care. Don’t do it GB.

Offences that lead to our club suffering ? Sorry self indulgence. House rules politely ask you to desist. Want to make political points, set up a political party and lobby. We came for the football.

I’ve said id love to have the GB back with a focus on what makes them special. Lose the nonsense.

Take our game back and repair it, get rid of ROB. Make OUR game fair for all!

That’s the whole point of this new account @TheScottishFaDo we need all fans including Celtic fans to unite & tackle this head on.

Celtic should’ve tackled this & spoke out long ago that’s why the corrupt SFA got away with it but we must remember we seriously need a fairer game for all clubs.

Bring back the days when a few clubs were challenging for the title.

Why is the Chief Exec. sanctioning £million transfers, when are the youngsters going to get there chance. Only a boycott will bring this “splash the cash” lot to heel.
