Juxtaposition of Keane with wannabes elsewhere

Worst Rangers [sic]team in history?
Check.

Worst Rangers [sic]chief executive in history?
Check.

Worst Rangers [sic]fans in history?
Oh, please.  They have played their part to perfection.

Worst Rangers [sic]manager in history?
Who, Ally the Great Enabler?  No way.

Charles Green would not have any authority at Ibrox if Ally McCoist didn’t act as his enabler last year.  While every Celtic fan with a keyboard was typing “Can they really be so stupid again?” Ally was cutting a deal for almost 5% of the share capital of the company [sic].  None of this would be possible without Ally.  If you see him, buy him a pie.

The juxtaposition was pointed out to me:

19 years after John Keane stepped forward with an amount of money very precious to him..

With no guarantee it would solve our problems…

Or that he would see a penny of it again (for the record, he hasn’t, and he is unlikely to)…

A very different history played out across the city.

Today’s Herald told us the group trying to overthrow the Sevco board contains Jim McColl and that, “McColl is one of Scotland’s richest people, but he won’t spend his own money”.

The world is full of rich men who will not spend their own money.  Long may they squabble over the Ibrox debris.

Our honorary chairman, John Keane, waved to the Celtic Park crowd before letting the league flag fly high, a direct consequence of putting his money where his mouth was.

What kind of books do you like? I can recommend plenty, also if you get my email address from Paul67 I should be able to send you some.

  5. The official attendance for the Leeds semi at Hampden was 136,505 – but it is estimated that several thousand more got in. The actual crowd would have been over 140,000.

I was in the south enclosure with a couple of pals – no crushing there.

My dad and a couple of his pals were in the north enclosure – said it was bloody mental. Sardines.

Still a record attendance for a match in a European club competition.

    HH!!

  6. I watched the daleks from behind ma ma’s couch as a wee bhoy.

I can understand why both legs wouldn’t be live, but the second leg at Hampden had Kenneth Wolstenholme commentating – what happened with the first leg?

  9. Tallybhoy

I was also in the South enclosure with my girlfriend of the time, her first Celtic game, and we had no problem from a crush perspective.

Lots of Leeds supporters in that area iirc and no hint of trouble.

    Well we wurnae playing Chelski.

  10. I hope you all will bear with my moment of self indulgence ,today FP and Mrs FP became Great Grandparents for the first time.to our Great Grandson Riley Patrick Welcome tothe Celtic family, ,Deo Gratias.

The link to the George Connelly goal in the first leg which was posted earlier was from Italian TV.

In the quarter final Celtic had beaten Fiorentina 3-1 on aggregate.

    HH!!

  13. Was at the Leeds game also. Every gangway was solid. The pylons were full of fans up to about 30 or40 feet. Older guys who had seen big crowds in the thirties reckon gate well over 150,000.

  15. Why don’t the zombies make a similar application to Glasgow City Council and they will soon find out who ‘holds the deeds’.

Last week Manchester United Supporters Trust had their application to have Old Trafford stadium listed as an asset of community value approved by Trafford Council, reducing the possibility that the stadium could be sold by the club’s owners, or that the club could move to another ground.

  16. Good evening friends.

Looking for a wee bit of advice. Been with Virgin Media for a few years (TV [inc. Sky Sports], phone and internet). As they’re not currently able to offer BT Vision then I’m thinking now might be the time to reconsider my options.

So, in short, if I were to cancel Virgin Media and basically start with a clean slate any suggestions of the most efficient way to get unlimited broadband, a landline and coverage of all Scottish football (don’t really need extensive TV packages – Freeview with sport should be enough)

    Cheers friends!

No self indulgence at all. Warm congratulations to your entire family on a special occasion.

Different era I suppose – one in which TV was looked on as the enemy ( not as it turns out without reason) but I won’t forget either night – the first listening to the wireless , the second largely listening to it from the Celtic End at Hampden as it was just too busy for me to get near the front and see it.

  21. I watched the first leg of the Leeds tie live in Austria. Mind you, it was only in black and white so I never got to see the orange socks. I did see George Connolly scoring. Couldn’t believe it. What a player.

  23. Paul67 et al

Pater Capaldi as the new Doctor Who! Might need to move it to after the nine o clock threshold.

  24. I used to think this was funny,

‘Latest score from Scotland, so far Forfar four East Fife five.’

but the latest score is even funnier,

    ‘Forfar 2 The Rankers 1’

  25. I was only 8 years old at the time but I can remember watching the highlights of the 1st leg v Leeds on Sportsnight that same evening. My brother and I were convinced that the orange socks were Celtics choice that night! Since found out though that wasn’t the case of course

  26. Thanks guys for your good wishes, the home is filling up now,the party will begin, don’t tink i will be on tonight.HH and God bless.

Cheers mate, as soon as I’m done with the therapy , and can get on my laptop I will get hold of Paul for your e-mail.

I can read most genres but prefer to keep it to nothing too taxing on my old pickled brain. I’m pretty much up to date with recent best sellers etc. Hoping to find some new not so well known authors
