Keep our name out of it, Salmond

1113

I’ve heard some utter tosh from politicians over the years but never anything so blatantly untrue as the comments from our First Minister, Alex Salmond, reported today.  This clown is telling people Rangers need to be saved for the sake of Celtic.  He said:

“The most diehard Celtic supporter understands that Celtic can’t prosper unless Rangers are there. The rest of the clubs understand that as well. Therefore you have to have cognisance of these things when you’re pursuing public policy.

Keep our name out of it you incoherent fool.

If our prosperity depends on the survival of Rangers it’s time our values and priorities changed.  You of all people should know this after your lecturing last year.  Celtic have not been well served by their association with Rangers, nor vice versa.  As a combined entity, the ‘Old Firm’ have not been good for Scotland.

I’m keen to hear what his “public policy” on the matter is.  Salmond goes on to say:

“We’ve certainly been arguing to HMRC on one hand, and indeed to Rangers, to for goodness sake get a settlement, get a settlement and a structure over time whereby Rangers can continue because Rangers must continue for the future of Scottish football and for the fabric of the country.”

How dare you argue with HMRC?  Even Rangers admit the potential underpayment could be £75m.  How many nurses, teachers and policemen would that employ, Mr Salmond?  This is the true cost of his position.

This sorry business has nothing to do with Celtic, I hope our club make this clear to provocative politicians.  All you die-hard Celtic supporters out there better let this man know he has no right to speak for you.

“Fabric of the country”. He got that bit right, alas.

The signed Celtic top we are auctioning on eBay for the Vanessa Riddle Appeal has reached an incredible value. Well done to everyone who participated, you are remarkable ambassadors for Celtic Football Club.

  1. Coorslad – the funniest thing is even if they do win it (and they won’t) the HMRC are going to appeal and rangers will still be in administration. They won’t be able to afford to fight the Upper Tribunal thingimy. Never let your blue nosed colleagues forget these facts. The big tax case didn’t even get a chance to sink the cash strapped crisis club (in administration!)

    Dear Sir

I find your comments as reported quite inappropriate and in many ways reprehensible.

I feel that you forget that doctors nurses teachers and police deprived of the taxes that Rangers stole are as much part of the fabric of the Scottish Nation as this football club.

No doubt those that have lost their jobs recently at Peacock’s will have taken note of where it appears your concerns lie.

I look forward to the people of Scotland passing their own judgement on your comments and priorities at the polls when the next occasion arises.

    Don’t forget this:

THE TRUTH IS ALWAYS THE FIRST CASUALTY IN WAR

For those worrying about the “positive” messages emanating from Ibrox, please remember thee following:

    a) There is no tax issue (circa April 2010)

    b) Ok, there is a small tax problem but we have been assured nothing illegal was done (circa Summer 2010)

    c) Tax problem slight issue but not for Rangers, MIH will pay it (early 2011)

    d) All debts cleared, Rangers ok (circa May 2011)

    e) Warchest, 4 in a row not only possible but likely (summer 2011)

    f) ok, a bit of trouble but the league is won so we’ll sort out problems later (Nov 2011)

    g) em, administration might be a good thing (Jan 2011)

    h) Administration is first step to recovery but we aren’t in admin yet, just thinking about it, oh and its all “big tax” problem (13 Feb 2012)

    i) Ok so its a different tax issue but admin is good and we got our own people in, everything will be ok (14 Feb 2012)

    j) Liquidation, nah, admin just temporary, we’ll be fine (15 Feb 2012)

Can everyone see a pattern developing?

Believe not what the LL/Rangers spin is.

Politicians talking rubbish again, who would believe it!

    Questions for the Administrators :

1.) What is their day rate?

2.) How much did MBB and cronnies drain out of Dignity since their arrival?

3.) How much cash in hand?

4.) How long prior to the Admin event where they being briefed by MBB?

5.) Have they approved the Daniel Cousin transfer?

6.) How many times have they performed this fucntion for MBB?

Need to keep the pressure on these chancers, looks to me as though they are dancing solely to MBB’s tune and not the entire creditor base………..

…. still Liquidation when the FTT hits, as the Duff & Duffer can obfuscate that one until the brown stuff hits the fan ………. 21 working days since the FTT completed, give it another 3 weeks. It will probably emerge before the game at Ipox, which I suspect will be rescheduled until much later in the season due to Police advice.

I haven’t voted for 30 years for any of our self-serving politicians, but I will forever use a protest vote against ANY SNP candidate in any election from now on.

  10. Referemce Alex Salmond’s “interference” in proceedings.

I would suggest that the SFA need to be very careful about any political involvement in the situation as UEFA and FIFA are very clear about Government interference in football and the governing body have a duty to ensure there is none and there is seen to be none. Scotland’s World Cup qualifying matches could get hooked.

Mind you, how is the SFA’s right and proper person investigation coming along??

Celtic thus far have played a blinder and may yet be required to be at the top of their game. That John Reid bloke might just come in handy after all:)

    Dear Sir,

The recent comments of YOUR Alex Salmond re Rangers Football Club are an absolute DISGRACE – he should immediately RESIGN !!

Rangers Football Club STOLE MILLIONS of pounds worth of money !

Any Minister who does not condemn such an organisation is NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE.

This is all very very sad !

  16. Here’s a thought:

The BBC’s “The Real Hustle” is substantially filmed in Scotland. It’s a reality show about confidence tricks, scams, and proposition bets.

The protagonists often pretend to be businessmen in order to separate the gullible and the greedy from their cash.

  29. Now I don’t claim understand the stock exchanges. I don’t know my FT from my CAC. But I do know that if the share price of a company goes up it usually means they are doing well and if it goes down they are doing badly.

As I understand it Rangers shares are currently suspended from trading because of Craig Whyte’s various infractions of company law, like not producing audited accounts. But if they were trading, I would have expected the price to plummet in recent days.

And if we are so deeply integrated with the huns that we will surely fail if they fail, then presumably our shares are now worth a mere fraction of what they were last week.

    Is this the case?
