Key decision of the year for Neil Lennon

1418

If you thumb through the pages of the Celtic Quick News comments section you’ll find a couple of overlapping areas of indifferent form being reported.  One for Beram Kayal and one for the team as a whole.  You’ll also note several contributors commenting that Beram’s form improved after his new contract was signed, settling speculation surrounding the player.

It may be coincidental that Beram’s form seemed to pick up after his future was settled but the fact that this happened a few days after the pivotal 3-3 draw at Kilmarnock suggests a whole lot of what has been going right at Celtic was linked to the Israeli’s form in this crucial central midfield area.

Neil Lennon has a huge tactical decision to make.  Get it wrong and he will not be able to replicate the impressive run of 10 consecutive wins.  Before making a decision, a good place to research would be videos of Celtic’s run up to and including that Kilmarnock game.  Knowing some of the things to avoid is a good start.

  1. Lets just concentrate on tomorrow guys!! WE CANNOT BE COMPLECENT!!! 1-0 sammy tomorrow it won’t be easy. however I can just see a 0-0 at st johnstone.

Lets get this in the bag.

6 million for Hooper, take the dosh.

Gary is a reasonable player but no worldbeater.

Joe Fillipi, you are spot on in your analysis. i’d go a wee bit further and state in too many games he just isn’t interested for my liking.

  3. Auldheid too true mate

for those who want to sell Hooper – how would you feel if we did that, the goals dryed up and we lost the league (again)?

Also how much money should be reinvested in the team and who would you buy with it?

Funny how we see the game differently, last week ah thought Paddy made a major contribution tae our victory at Peterhead.

Listening tae the Celticunderground podcast today the two guys wer saying Paddy contributed very little.

The pass from Paddy in the lead up tae our first goal wis sublime.

Ah felt had Stokes been a wee bit mare aware of his position in terms of staying onside it would have seen him on goal again Paddy defence splitting passes.

If James Forrest is out tomorrow ad start Paddy.

Delahunt says that there will be more open discussion of all things Ragers when the BBC come out and say that it is not being sued.

I would have thought that it is more likely that the BBC will announce when it is being sued.

    It is a ludicrous policy.

  6. Synde talking up ths sadaaza pre contract, mebbes aye, mebbes no, will he won’t he? This is an old tactic, remember Jess was going to sign for Rangers (according to Chic Young) every time Aberdeen played the rotten mob.

The fact is that the fat jannie has no say over who he signs or who he keeps. Gordon Smith is in charge of the squad, the GEF isn’t speaking to Billy Bunter, Keevins is an out and out disgrace!

If you deduce 8 goals that player scored for Rapid in 2 Cup games this season you will see that his scoring ratio is not good. Five of these 8 goals were scored against team from 4th Austrian league. He is not first choice striket for Rapid. I take Lennon’s quotation about Celtic interest was smokescreen. Rapid manager said that the news about Celtic interest in the player was gossip. No contacts, no calls, no offer, no questions about player status.

  8. Ironic that McGregors out with a thigh strain ?

His extended-leg style in the way he comes out to collect the ball from the air, reminds me of a time at Swinecastle when McGregor left his leg in the air, enabling him to kick a hearts player in the chest and, the next day a picture in one of the papers showed the above incident, face-on with MIB Mike McCurry standing in line with a perfect view and did nothing ?

The very next day, Terry O’Neill called Clyde and pointed out the scenario described above and put it to the Clyde panel that, “….on conclusion, Mike McCurry is either a coward, or a cheat ?”

Needless to say, the BOLD Mr O’Neill didn’t appear on Clyde for a while.

    Hail! Hail!

  9. The only people who would want Celtic to get rid of Hooper this month are desperate huns. I might be wrong right enough, there might be a few clueless wonders who dont actually attend the games who may also fall into that camp…

Goals Mate, good goals, scrappy goals even one or two with his head…

Check out Tarrant’s compilations, of course football is all about opinions and in my opinion Gary Hooper is a player I would keep as he will get better and better..

    He’s a natural!

  13. Keevins ‘Rangers don’t have any money…this tax bill is hanging over their heads’

History re-written: MBBBGEF said that he would invest £5M in the first year squad, and £25M in total over five years with the option of ‘front-loading’ some of the remaining £20M if needed’ That was because both Murray and the GEF stated that they weren’t worried about the Big Case because they were going to win it.

The funding wasn’t contingent on European qualification or any other item. The clear implication was that GEF was providing the weeble with ‘new’ money. Not a single journalist has asked GEF ‘where’s the money?’

Good call by Paul just now! the answer? ‘We’ll address it on the show tomorrow’!!!!!!!

  14. re the hooper …… story/ tripe.

We need to bring in an additional proven goalscorer to ensure the league flag is flying over Celtic Park, now why would we sell a proven goalscorer…… oh I’ve got it we’re not selling, we’re buying in a striker.

Laptop Loyal hunguffery, don’t believe a word of it.

Matey, people are allowed an opinion without being labelled “clueless” or the worst insult you can direct, the H word.

I’d normally expect an apology from a Celtic supporter who acts rashly and ignorantly, but then some ‘tic fans are dim enough not to realise they are what they espouse to oppose.

  17. Well played Tarrant,

Hooper is a great striker and will be terrific for us for a few seasons yet.

Brilliant video and when you see his goals all in the one place at the one time and people are offering 5 million for Jordan Rhodes it makes you kinda wonder!!

Gary Hooper understands what it means to score for Celtic!

Alan McGregor kaks himself every time he sees Hoops in the penalty box..

So if a liar and con man wants to rip people off and doesn’t want the media to talk about it all he has to do is get his PR company to announce that he is going to sue someone?

Suits me if it makes it more likely that the huns go bust.

  20. A bit weird rangers only officially realised McGregor was missing today at about 7.00 o’clock tonight.

I wonder were he will be spotted tomorrow…

Selling Hopper right now is BONKERS….

We need goals, we need to improve the team to ENSURE we win this league…can’t believe we are even contemplating taking our best goal scorer out of our team..

unless we are bringing in someone MASSIVE…but is anyone going to score more than Hooper?

Hooper is not world class, he’s maybe even not EPL standard but he can score in the SPL…we need someone who can do that!!

  22. .

    Irony Ehh..

    Houston accepts ban

Dundee United boss Peter Houston has accepted the two-match ban imposed for criticising officials following the recent home defeat to Aberdeen.

That will see him missing the forthcoming games against Celtic and Motherwell.

Houston had been unhappy at a couple of non-decisions as the visitors eventually ran out 2-1 winners at the beginning of this month.

He had believed United should have been awarded a clear penalty and were also denied a throw-in during the build-up to the winning goal.

    Summa

  23. Keep Hooper & Stokes, Sell Rasmussen, Bangura & Murphy.

Buy Rhodes. We have a League to win.

  24. Clyde said there that the three most important people at Celtic FC are, DD, PL and NL ?

No they’re not. The Celtic fans who put, ALL the money into the club ARE the most important people at the club! IMO!

DD, PL and the rest of the faceless wonders who constitute the Celtic hierarchy are, imo, playing a dangerous game if they think that, the cheating on/off the pitch due to Mibbery and, tax rip-off’s will be, all forgiven for the sake of the Scottish game then, I think the hierarchy could invite a lot of malcontents to the front door again ?

Then again, haven’t the hierarchy already sold us down the river by agreeing to a TV-deal which incudes four games v’s the huns ?

    Hail! Hail!

Like you said it’s all opinions, and Vmhan is probably right about the Hunguffery.

I didn’t look at the Video, I know what he does and brings, can recall most if not all his goals. He’s scored some really clever goals for us.

This season he has looked disinterested (in my opinion) during some games. I’d like him to work, WORK, WORK!! Henke the best most of us have seen in the Hoops did just that from 0-90.

I’ve also got this theory too that a striker coming to a new league has the initiative over defenders. You know new kid, new tricks. It’s based on coaches and (some) defenders being clever. Over a period they learn about the opposition’s strikers and how to combat them. Think it’s happening to Gary this season and it means he has to adapt and add to his repertoire: to score with his head, vary his runs etc I don’t think he has added to his game. Do you ?
