If you thumb through the pages of the Celtic Quick News comments section you’ll find a couple of overlapping areas of indifferent form being reported. One for Beram Kayal and one for the team as a whole. You’ll also note several contributors commenting that Beram’s form improved after his new contract was signed, settling speculation surrounding the player.
It may be coincidental that Beram’s form seemed to pick up after his future was settled but the fact that this happened a few days after the pivotal 3-3 draw at Kilmarnock suggests a whole lot of what has been going right at Celtic was linked to the Israeli’s form in this crucial central midfield area.
Neil Lennon has a huge tactical decision to make. Get it wrong and he will not be able to replicate the impressive run of 10 consecutive wins. Before making a decision, a good place to research would be videos of Celtic’s run up to and including that Kilmarnock game. Knowing some of the things to avoid is a good start.

As usual really looking forward to going to paradise tomorrow and hope to see a few goals. It wont be easy, we can’t be complacent and as I have said many many times….
… we just need to keep this BIG GREEN CELTIC Steamrolling machine, chug chug chug chuggin along.
We have scored 11 and conceded 1 in our last five games. By comparison DU have scored 13 and conceded 8, two of those conceded were in the last few minutes away to airdrie in the cup last week, where DU scored 6. Take the cup game out of the equation and it’s 10-8 as prior to that, in the league, they won 3-2 at ICT. In summary, I expect us to score a few tomorrow.
I dont understand the debate re the team. For me it’s a no brainer – Emilio for Joe at left back and Joe into midfield with any one of our hungry squad members getting the much sought after place on the bench. We have real depth in squad with quality and hunger, desire and determination. We will win this league and that as Neil Lennon said last year, “Is just the beginning.” I really believe we have the nucleus of a side to not only dominate the domestic league, we can also put down a marker in Europe again. If any of the young guns are to leave to any side outwith the top 4 in each of the big european leagues, it is a backward step. Well a backward step if your ambition is to play in one of the best stadiums in the world, in front of the best fans. To get a starting place or be part of a squad that is going places. To win trophies. To be adored.
If the ambition is to earn money – GO – you probably are not the type of character we want anyway. Please please no more wasting money on football mercenaries ala the much travelled and heavy walleted, badge kissing, always wanted to play there robbie keane.
Rather than wishing to add to the squad during this window, my wish, is to not offload anyone who is in the plans. We have to build this time from a position of strength and with youth on our side we are looking very strong. The hardest part, as I have said before, will be to stop these young players heads being turned.
Sure their are some squad members that we could move on and we all have our own ideas on who they are. Let me tell you something though (in my best Rab C voice) Paddy McCourt should not be one of them. He is a 100% keeper providing he wants to stay and I hope he does.
I’m gutted for Kayal, regardless of the circumstances, he was really coming back onto a game and he is certainly a player. What a great find from Neil and the integral backroom team. When he was injured after that ‘fair’ challenge on the 28th, a lot of the fans around me were too busy berating elbows to notice Beram. I turned round to the Ghuy next to me and said “forget about elbows, I just hope Kayal is ok.” We will miss him, thankfully we have depth in squad to counter his loss.
Finally, whilst skimming the other night I noticed a post that I had to respond to. Family duties called me away and I have hardly been on since.
Knoxy – AMAZING AMAZING NEWS – I am trully made up for you and your family. I’m not ashamed to say I had a tear in my eye reading the wee man’s blog. Absolutely brilliant news.
