Killie prove you can get at this Rangers team

977

I watched Kilmarnock previous home game against Inverness, as shambolic a defensive performance as I have seen in the SPL.  Shipping six goals against the team who were, and remain, bottom of the league is the kind of result that can decimate team morale, but St Johnstone’s result at Ibrox last week offered some encouragement that you can get at this this Rangers team.

It’s worth pointing out a few things.  Rangers are still four points clear at the top of the league, if we were in that position we would rightly be delighted and confident.  Pascali’s goal for Kilmarnock was also only their second goal conceded in eight SPL away games and only their seventh overall in 16 games – getting on for half a season.  By comparison, Celtic have conceded 14 goals, including three at Kilmarnock.

While that defensive record is commendable, the loss of Steven Naismith leaves them disproportionately dependent on Nikica Jelavic to maintain their goal-scoring threat, and Jelavic is not known for season-long durability.

When news came through that Sone Aluko had paid his transfer fee to become a Rangers player few of us expected him to make as quick an impact on the league table as he has, single-handedly playing three Kilmarnock players onside at the goal.  This is an unfortunate start to the player’s Rangers career but Rangers fans have a reputation for scapegoating (among other things).  For some, Aluko’s card is marked.  He’ll need a lot of talent to recover from this one.

Aw, can we not just keep him? :-)

I remember his first full season, when he scored something like 12 goals in 13 games then got injured. There were people complaining that all his goals were side-footed, placed efforts and they wished he would just blast a couple in. His goalscoring form never recovered after that injury.

I don’t think some people will ever be satisfied with Sami, no matter what he does. The frustrating thing is, there’s a brilliant player in there somewhere. It’s just bringing it out of him that’s the problem.

It seems after today’s incident Broadfoot’s time at Ibrox is over. He’s even started discussions with Sone Aluko about a severance package.

Osasuna beat Espanyol away. Who saw that coming?

It means that Atlético Madrid drop to eleventh.

If Villarreal can beat Málaga away tomorrow night, Atlético Madrid will drop to twelfth.

Next Sunday, they have another derby match, at home to Rayo Vallecano. I think old Gregory Appletrees might have half an eye on that. Hope so, anyway.

The feeling is right at CP just now and IMO not that great at ibORCS, this is the way league titles are won. We have a tough time ahead but this league is ours if we keep it going.

I remember he was getting interviewd after his first cap, and he was so confident that he would be a regular in the side if he kept up his form with the hun, it was side splitting stuff.

Bishop Maurice Taylor once said that he had his eyes opened for him one day while visiting St Patrick’s Primary School, Auchinleck.

He he invited the children to reflect on all the blessings we receive from God, the things that make us feel that life really is worth living, the things that bring us real joy in our lives.

    There was a big silence.

Then one wee guy broke into a big smile and said: “The Talbot.”

  12. Adam Matthews has played well of late, Joe Ledley is consistent, BK rediscovered form, Vic will be a star, JF providing, Tony providing and scoring (player of the season for me), Hoops finding his touch.

Tony Stokes will be player of the season as I say, but player for November for me, Daniel Majstorovic, the promiscuous centre-back – a new partner every week, performs well with each. Has played with inexperiencec guys and brought them through. A changing back four is not good, but he and AM have performed very well. Dan is the man.

  13. Sportscene on in 20 minutes, settling down with an ice cold glass of Pinot Grigio and, for a change, I don’t mind which game is on first – us or the huns. Which probably means they’ll show Dunfermline v Aberdeen………

  14. Broadfoot – what a yolker…

I wish I knew other celtic fans..then I could ask them if they think we have the best Goalies in Scotland…instead I’ll just have to accept I’m the only one who thinks we don’t…

Next thing you’ll be telling me Messi couldnae get in to our team..

    holy moly!

  18. Fraser Foster has accomplished more at 23 than McGregor did. He might end up doing better playing and winning in Europe rather than playing for lowly SPL guff teams. Mcgregor needs a move and pronto. Makes far too many mistakes these days.

I don’t happen to think you’re an orc but by your own admission you attend Parkhead infrequently and have been known to accept complimentary tickets for Ibrox, aside from derby games.

I think this coupled with your tendency to focus on the negative result in some posters reaching their conclusions.
