Killie prove you can get at this Rangers team

977

I watched Kilmarnock previous home game against Inverness, as shambolic a defensive performance as I have seen in the SPL.  Shipping six goals against the team who were, and remain, bottom of the league is the kind of result that can decimate team morale, but St Johnstone’s result at Ibrox last week offered some encouragement that you can get at this this Rangers team.

It’s worth pointing out a few things.  Rangers are still four points clear at the top of the league, if we were in that position we would rightly be delighted and confident.  Pascali’s goal for Kilmarnock was also only their second goal conceded in eight SPL away games and only their seventh overall in 16 games – getting on for half a season.  By comparison, Celtic have conceded 14 goals, including three at Kilmarnock.

While that defensive record is commendable, the loss of Steven Naismith leaves them disproportionately dependent on Nikica Jelavic to maintain their goal-scoring threat, and Jelavic is not known for season-long durability.

When news came through that Sone Aluko had paid his transfer fee to become a Rangers player few of us expected him to make as quick an impact on the league table as he has, single-handedly playing three Kilmarnock players onside at the goal.  This is an unfortunate start to the player’s Rangers career but Rangers fans have a reputation for scapegoating (among other things).  For some, Aluko’s card is marked.  He’ll need a lot of talent to recover from this one.

  1. It should be a super positive plus CQN forum tonight after the weekend we’ve had.

Some malcontents, who only post when things are going against us, are conspicuous by their absence. Long may it continue.

    I had my doubts too!

If the board would support him totally………who knows.

Even if he fails, i will always love him.

And, we are still on for four trophies this season.

How many clubs in Europe can say that today?

    Not many, I’m sure.

    C’MON LENNY!!!!!!

    C’MON THE CELTS!!!!!!!

  3. Just had a closer look at goal#5 yesterday as I thought at the time that Stokes was in a better position on the right. Its just as well the game was won and DM scored, as he could also have put Hooper in 1-on-1 with the keeper.

  4. Mrs Chaplin is watching Keith Harris on 321 on Challenge TV and I said to her, he is really good, what do you call him again ?

    God Bless Gary Speed.

I agree that it’s not the job for a “rookie” but not knowing who wanted/didn’t want the job we’ll never know why a “rookie” was appointed.

Anyway I’m fine with Lenny in charge. He’s brought in some excellent young players who are a joy to watch. Of course he has also brought in some players who as yet haven’t set the heather alight and might never do but the same can be said of previous, and more experienced, Celtic managers.

You watched Dylan’s goal again yet highlight the possibilities of 2 possible passes he could have made. I despair I really do.

  9. THE EXILED TIM,

You’re right to remind us that none of us actually know the full story behind Gary Speed’s decision.

I don’t want to turn this into a mental health blog, but perhaps a general comment on your remarks. In many people depression is obvious. Other mental illnesses might not be so clearly visible, as you say. And in some cases the decision to commit suicide can actually bring relief – knowing that you have a solution, a way out, can seem like a positive

The treble here is definitely on!

The quality of the football we are playing is, well, brilliant!

    Thanks Neil.

  11. I would love to see us progress in the Europa league with this team.

A right good run, TFOD done it with a crap team after all.

    Remember Lubo’s Ibrox party?

Who was it that came on for his debut and tried a glory goal instead of passing to Henke?

    Wee Maloney perhaps?

I’ve that game taped. The version of the Celtic and THEM supporter commentating. What a laugh.

‘When he talked about ‘depression’ in his book, he was vilified on here, remember, i do!’

People wondered whether someone who has clinical depression could stand the stress of being Celtic manager.

They clearly didn’t understand the nature of clinical depression, but their concerns, though misplaced, were well intentioned.

If I was Neil Lennon’s dad I wouldn’t make an ar*e of myself OR my son by posting like an idiot on here.

    Honestly, I wouldn’t.”

You make an arse of yourself regularly on here, regardless of who’s dad you are.

I think if truth be told there were many Celtic fans who were concerned about Lennie getting the managers job.I for one thought it wasnt a job for a rookie we needed an experienced manager however, now I dont think we could get better than Lennie the man has Celtic in his heart. He knows how we the fans think and also how the board operate which is also important . We are coming into December and we are still in for four trophies and thats not to shabby at all. H.H.

  17. Not sure if Barcabhoy has posted this anywhere else, but he has posted this on the RTC blog. Hope he doesn’t mind me reposting.

Today’s news that Plus Markets are investigating Rangers is hardly a surprise. Especially to those of us who suggested to Plus markets that an investigation was merited !!

Great action clip. Aiden rated with Shay Given and Richard Dunne as the three most valuable players in Irelands ten game successful qualifying run to the European finals.

  19. I hope we have the character and the ability to make the weekends results work for us.I think a couple of experienced guys in January is required.I hope the Club mark Gary Speeds passing on Wednesday night, considering we have 2 current Welsh internationals playing for us.

  20. Philbhoy - It's just the beginning! on

I’m sure the board will support Neil’s ambitions for this season.

Unlike one anti board hun poster on this site.

  21. It is always very sad when someone in their prime of life passes away but I feel it is so much sadder when it is at their own hands. I thought my son was messing about when he told me of Gary Speed’s tragic passing and was stunned to find out that it was true.

I thought Bill Shankly was a great manager but he was so wrong when he said that football was more important than life.

Gary Speed may you rest in peace.

Bada Bing If we are to bring in two experienced players in the January wibdow do you have anyone in mind that you would like to see us go for ? H.H.

Fantastic to watch mate & glad Aiden continues to do well. Have not seen any of him since he left which is a shame. Hopefully he will move to the EPL soon so it’s easier to see him in action. Reckon he would be sensational in it.
