Kilmarnock 0-6 Celtic

1028

The Scottish Premier League title was secured in emphatic fashion at Kilmarnock this afternoon as The Champions recorded the highest winning margin by any team in the league this season before celebrating an unforgettable league title.

There were sterling performances all over the field for Celtic but it was Charlie Mulgrew who made it his business that there would be no mistakes today.  He scored two and created another two of Celtic’s opening four goals before a late flurry finished the scoring.

The opening goal was a bullet header from Charlie from a Kris Commons corner with less than 7 minutes on the clock.  Mulgrew could have added a second three minutes later when he combined with Commons on the edge of the area before trying to clip the ball past Cammy Bell in the Kilmarnock goal but on this occasion his attempt went wide.

Glenn Loovens made it 0-2 after 15 minutes when a short corner was played across the field to Mulgrew on the right.  Charlier swung in a deep cross to the back of the six yard box for Loovens to of back across goal and into the net.

On 35 minutes Mulgrew cut inside from the left wing and opened space for a delicious right foot shot inside the far post to put Celtic 0-3 ahead and in dreamland.

Moments later Adam Matthews crossed to the dangerous Commons who could have turned and shot but played the ball into the past of Georgios Samaras who drew a magnificent save from Bell.

Seconds before half time Mulgrew sent in a mirror copy of his earlier cross for Loovens but this time Gary Hooper raced onto the ball at the back post to fire into the net and give Celtic a four goal lead at half time.

Commons, who played as a false centre forward for most of the game to great effect, should have earned a penalty on the hour mark when he was barged off the ball when clean thought inside the box but his distinct hooped shirt counted against him.

Kris then played a magnificent pass onto the rampaging Loovens who injured himself in a challenge with Cammy Bell as his shot went narrowly wide.

The second half looked set to end without a goal before a couple of late contributions, the first from Ledley who combined with Stokes before clipping the ball over the goalkeeper.  Gary Hooper then fired an unstoppable shot into the postage stamp corner from 19 yards to complete the rout.

Have a Champion Easter and enjoy your well earned celebrations.

You probably know Kenny Shiels better than me since you both come from the north but I think that he comes across as quite a good guy at times. He has spoken supportively of Neil as ahs Steve Lomas. I even think that Shiel#s request for a strong referee for today’s game might have been a bit of support for Neil who received a letter from the SFA for more or less saying the same thing last week.

Listened to shortbread just long enough to hear about how R@ngers fans will simply not allow their club top be liquidated and for McLhun to ask “will Neil Lennon walk away now?” Then turned it off. I almost pity them in their desperation and delusion.

Lenny will become a great manager of a great Celtic team for many years to come while the huns rot in a cesspit of their own making.

Are there any bookies taking bets on Huns being liquidated? No…funny that, eh?

On Snyde the other night the line of ‘Paul Murray is a man of integrity but not great wealth’ was reiterated over and over..I think that is code /softening up for it’is a vanity bid by a deluded hun and his pals.

In my estimation Liquidation is inevitable….so to is the campaign to allow Hun Newco straight back in to SPL…this must be resisted.

  11. It’s customary for some critics / football gurus to post an analysis of each player’s contribution and awards stars from 10.

I’ll do it for today although I am neither a critic or a guru.

Whole Celtic 14 were great and get 9. It would have been a 10 if they had scored another four in the second half as we were all demeanding.

Celtic management for fielding an aggressive attacking team 10/10.

For the Celtic fhans who were in great spirit(s) from before the start to well after the finish 20/10.

Agree entirely. We need to hammer home that liquidation means the end. No club. No league place. History gone.

A newco, the Zombie Rangers, should be treated like any other non league team. It can apply with others for a place in the bottom division.

No one gave Gretna FC 2008 a place in any league by right. Zombie Rangers 2012 should be treated in exactly the same manner.

I note the press’ intention to try and destabilise us – as ever after a league victory. But sadly for them our future is very very bright and as the t shirts said – this is only the beginning. I witnessed the huns complaining about celtic supporters singing having a party at central station this evening. The coppers couldnt do anything and how they hated it….
