Loved Dave King’s statement, absolutely loved it, as Kevin Keegan would say. On the positive side for Newco fans, “Rangers” beat Celtic 2-1 on the mention count. Well done, Dave, excellent result.
In short, Our New Hero confirmed five points:
The manager he appointed in 2015, Mark Warburton, was an improvement on Ally – I’ll tell the fans anything for money – McCoist, but he was not good enough when up against top-flight clubs.
He didn’t get a resignation from Warburton and his management team. There are now two club statements out there earnestly trying to convince you otherwise, but both are clear on the subject – there was no resignation.
They have burned £18m in less than two years to get into this mess.
“Our realistic expectation [for this season] was to come second”.
There will be jam tomorrow.
Warburton and his management team were sacked in the most dignified manner conceivable: informed by a journalist who read they were out of a job on the club web site.
Let the sacking sink in for a moment. Management were informed they were sacked by a journo who read an article on a web site! Years from now no one will believe such a thing could happen.
Who behaves like this? Sacking someone is never pleasant, but if you don’t have the cahonas to do the job in person, get out of the employer business. You have to wonder where their moral compass is.
The club appear to have acted after it became clear Warburton & Co. were not getting the Nottingham Forest gig and there would be no chance of a compensation payment heading to Glasgow. Forest didn’t buy the soiled merchandise, there’s no resignation letter nor even a meeting where a verbal resignation could have taken place. Not a concern if they don’t remain in business long enough for the legal process to run its course, though.
I’m pleased King made the financial facts clear: this is what overinvestment looks like at Ibrox. £18m shovelled into the furnace already, and there’s a good chance pushing that figure up to £30m will not be enough (according to King).
What “enough” is, is the question.
Their realistic expectation was to come second! Less of this “Going for 55” nonsense, please, you’re “Going for second place”, we all know it. There is no shame in this, the cold fact is that Celtic are out of reach.
Going for second place is a high watermark from now on. Pushing the £18m up to £30m or more will do nothing more than make the battle with Aberdeen and Hearts more interesting.
This season alone Celtic will earn £50m more than any other Scottish club. £30m, £50m, £70m over three or more years will still not bridge the gap at the top.
Then, when the last of these loans are made, the unpleasant business of reigning costs back to breakeven point will take place. What you didn’t read in King’s statement was any awareness that football clubs have to pay the piper. Financial responsibility is a foreign language.
Given his past football directorship, you’d think……..

Not everyone’s taste but I love this wee song.
The P67 5 points in this missive:
1. Warbuton was not better than McCoist or vice versa. Both are skilless.
2. The resignation debacle is Jabba doing Kings bidding for avoidance of pay off. Nothing more.Nothing less.
3. £18m doubt it. Who cares. There will be no audit trail because there are a 1000 creditors owed £300m. Lies.
4. They thought they’d win it with their usual incahoots mibbery cheating. The incahoots mibbery cheating is still ultimately prevalent as we have witnessed (especially lately) but they are so bad on the park that they will be lucky if they come in 3rd if they can survive as a club at all until May.
5. Any jam on the horizon will be provided by the SFA, The SPFL or some other Scottish institution.
I just hope its not Celtic. Let them die.

A long and emotional day emptying my abode in Hamilton. Thankfully, I’ve just sat down to a drink and some food.
The Celtic memorabilia I uncovered going back to my nonno (granda) was inspiring.
My God it’s wonderful where we are as a team on the park right now. Most Tims I talk to remember the fake news of 9 in a row in the ’90s in Govan and the hurt we endured. I saw friends cry, we were barred from pubs and there was a multitude of other events which occurred on the back of their cheating that shouldn’t be posted here or elsewhere. We bit our tongues and gritted our teeth and we were faithful through and through. We bought our season tickets and we went to Pittodrie and Inverness and everywhere else. Those who couldn’t bought their Celtic TV and the merchandise. We all paid.
Wonderful, truly wonderful.
And then I read a tweet from a girl I know earlier tonight. She’d take a bullet for many Celtic supporters but wouldn’t piss on others who were on fire. She doesn’t buy into the thought and policy that were a club for all. I’m inclined to agree.
Should we align ourselves with the racist, the sexist, the homophobe or the fascist?
No, that wasn’t Walfrid’s vision. Read the Beatitudes and there you’ll find the true meaning of Celtic. That was what Brother Walfrid strove to achieve.
Sadly, the opposite of those feelings are ofttimes what I see.
Ken Loach tonight gave a brilliant speech about his film I, Daniel Blake and its reflection on the British government and the empathy and compassion of the ordinary people.
Immediately I thought of our board and us, the ordinary Celtic supporters.
Vardy or Moussa?
Catching up on the day’s football.
Easily, Dembele.
And a man called Brady scores against Chelsea!

Great post. Your well entitled to be emotional. A lot of happy/sad/good/not so good memories you are leaving behind.
A beautiful/ wonderful woman awaits you in the land that time forgot.
P.S.
Incidentally her namesake was abducted, in Paris, in Greek mythology, causing The Trojan War.
I just thought I’d let you know that I paid attention in one lesson at school.

You have just summed up what Celtic should be all about. Top mhan.

HamiltonTim:
Great post,
In a normal life we should expect to endure two of those long and emotional days you refer to.
Some of us have to endure more than their fair share.
Artists like Ken Loach inspire others.
Delighted for his recognition and his ability to speak truth to power.
I was watching the Grammys tonight in a bar.
I was struck how cynical the audience (in my bar) were….
Anyways…..
Last night I saw a great American band, Drive By Truckers, and witnessed a band that the audience had a real affinity with, because the band dared to speak politically in their lyrics, to speak truth to power.
Was privileged to have a beer with them after. God Bless Them. Musicians with a purpose beyond fame.
As is A Tribe Called Quest,,,, Different Genre but same truth….
When you read the mainstream media about any subject, be it fitba in Scotland, or geopolitics worldwide, the agenda of the media owners is always apparent, just as it is in the music we are fed, rather than the quality that is available but we have to search for.
I am loving the state of mind Brendan has brought to the players…
They are playing with confidence and truthfully.
Just like A Tribe Called Quest or The Drive By Truckers.
A White Band From Alabama…
https://youtu.be/mY0qOCUy27Q
A Black Band from Queens New York…
https://youtu.be/eAoqWu6wmfI
These bands are Quiet Tims.
They are muted by the MSM…
But just like Celtic their performance defeats any media agenda…
And speak truth to power.
Hamilton Tim

Interspersed with ” The Holy Ground ” and ” Cod liver Oil and the Orange Juice “.
I`ll check your recommendations.
Just back in TO, and waiting for our luggage.

A late night with the Parish Priest on Friday followed by the emotional and physical exertions of yesterday, compounded by one glass of wine and response to a host of Celtic Trust emails, topped with a more than generous portion of pasta…have resulted in the lady of my dreams only just awaking me from my slumber on the couch!
Three weeks aff the smokes have riddled me with chronic insomnia but it’s a small price if the final target is achieved.
I’m not, and never will be, an insecure person. However, one of my great, genuine joys of posting on CQN is the recognition of those I respect and hold in high regard. All three of you are in such a bracket.
Watching Celtic on the park is an incredible joy these days. I get to take my 13 year old daughter who is growing to love the Celtic in her own way. She shares my joy, love and scepticism regarding Celtic.
Her first visit to Parkhead was to raise money for a wee guy with cancer, she’d never met, from Ireland. I’m not convinced she’s a devotee to football yet but she has a season ticket and attends most away games.
She shares my feelings about Celtic and understands the socialist, charitable ethos of what our club is really all about.
She asks me about my involvement in the Trust and Irish Republicanism and I inform her that I’ll tell her when she’s older.
The criminalisation of football supporters? She sees that for herself, sadly.
The disgust that I have regarding The plc at the moment is measured only by my joy at watching the team on the park. I don’t post about it because our real desire is that any issues can be resolved privately.
Fingers crossed.
Staying Up Late
Your kind response has put you in with the esteemed posters mentioned above.
In my opinion.
Walfrid had a dream.
I won’t respect the views of those who claim to be Tims whose opinions are the antithesis of what he aspired to.

Well said buddy.
I watched I, Daniel Blake for the first time about 2 weeks ago. Truly sad reflection of the destruction of individuals and the human spirit that the Tories are inflicting on the weakest of society. Ken Loach stands above any other film maker with this real life tale.
I have always agreed that we should never be open to or accepting of all.
