Knowing your limitations

1188

Rumour has it that prior to their play-off second leg against Hamilton Accies last season Terry Butcher spoke to his Hibs players about their prospective lap of honour.  It was fatal.  Two goals up from the first leg away from home, he thought the job was done.  Hibs were relegated despite having fourth highest wages in the division.

Scottish football is more competitive, healthier, than most would give it credit for.  As yesterday’s Scottish Cup Final demonstrated.  Two towns, emptied of most able bodied adults, urged their team onto what would be an historic win, whichever way it went.

John Hughes is a very modest man.  He speaks highly of his peers and considers himself someone who does the obvious things thoroughly.  Maybe knowing your limitations is the first step to achieving greatness.  I was delighted for him.  His predecessor at Inverness, Terry Butcher, flattered to deceive.

  2. Just logged on after a fantastic afternoon watching BT Sport.

The highlights for me were two quotes from the Mullet:-

“Three goals out of five were deflections”. Aye a 6-1 going over is unlucky.

“My three strongest points are recruitment, getting the best out of players and improving them”. Hmmm – didn’t see much of the last two over the past week.

Give the man a long-term contract.

    Evening all,

Commiserations to the plucky championship team today, the new club didn’t have the big game experience for a match like today (unlike Messrs McManus, Pearson and McDonald of course).

Saw this on bbc website from not so long ago…

Sutton scoring a 90th minute goal to make it number 6…takes me back 15 years!

    Hahahahaha

Commiserations to the good fholk of Greenock, unfortunately you have the orc’s heading your way twice next season. My advice would be stay indoors and don’t let the kids out

Surely Neil won’t get the blame this time, especially when they have wee Strachan on the scene, although an Edinburgh jury would say Neil is guilty by association

Have a good night fellow Celtic fans, have been “ordered off” the iPad by young MissGFTB

  8. Chris McGlaughlin states things got ugly at the end of the game!

I beg to differ, things got ugly as soon as The Sevco team took to the pitch to warm up.

  11. If it had been a Celtic player acting as Moshni, the SNP would now even now be planning legislationfor Police Scotland to be armed at all Celtic matches, home and away – remember how quick off their mark to punish Celtic- minded folk, after the disgusting behaviour of Rangers players and staff, at the ‘so-called’ shame game at Celtic Park – listen now for the deafening silence from the likes of, Sturgeon, Salmond, Graham, and their rabble.

hope the son-in-law hasnt bought the season tickets for the bhoys yet :-)))

  14. To be honest, I have few hun mates and feel for them, they have had it hard of late.

    Liar after liar ripping it.

They did their best, but it just wasn’t good enough on the day.

    Moshni = Novo = Diouf = Bougarrhea = xxx, you name them…

Honestly, would any of them had played for any other Scottish team ?

They were there for one thing and one thing only – CHEAT – knowing that the MIBs would turn a blind eye…

Well, that today just got better and better and better…..

Don’t be surprised if the Mullet is still in charge at the Death Star next season btw. Thems cannot afford to recruit anyone else with the promise of no money and who in their right mind would take that job?

There will be a fair bit of ‘duds in for duds out,’ with regards to the playing staff and this will be sold as McCall getting his ‘own team in’ to work with……

    Ah cannae wait…

  21. I still don’t why our club acted the way they did after the’shame game’ We should never have agreed to particpate in any summit meeting.

Anway, enough of the negativity, I’m just enjoying taking more dosh from the bookies:-)
