Knowing your limitations

1188

Rumour has it that prior to their play-off second leg against Hamilton Accies last season Terry Butcher spoke to his Hibs players about their prospective lap of honour.  It was fatal.  Two goals up from the first leg away from home, he thought the job was done.  Hibs were relegated despite having fourth highest wages in the division.

Scottish football is more competitive, healthier, than most would give it credit for.  As yesterday’s Scottish Cup Final demonstrated.  Two towns, emptied of most able bodied adults, urged their team onto what would be an historic win, whichever way it went.

John Hughes is a very modest man.  He speaks highly of his peers and considers himself someone who does the obvious things thoroughly.  Maybe knowing your limitations is the first step to achieving greatness.  I was delighted for him.  His predecessor at Inverness, Terry Butcher, flattered to deceive.

  1. Sevco becomes a whole different proposition in terms of investment-worthiness if significantly fewer season tickets are sold, as will probably happen now. Financial collapse could come pretty quickly.

I think Weir and his boss were a definite for the job at ibrokes IF thems won today

going by Weirs reaction ( according to posters on here) he may have seen the dream job disappear in front of his bleary tear filled eyes.Hehehehe

6-1 on aggregate seems about right, and the same unwillingness to face a reality that killed Rangers, leaves Sevco doomed in a lower league.

Still after three years of existence with not one single football prospect, Sevco were hyped despite a season of disaster, on and off the field and a halted journey stopped in it’s tracks, by arguably the poorest Motherwell side in years, who proved head and shoulders above their opponents.

Filling the side with expensive yesterday men and bosman never wasps leaves the new club with so many out of contract, in the abysss they’ll be doing exceptionally well to make the play offs next year in what is after all the greatest league in the world.

Another long endless summer with the prospect of Celtic Park remaining free from the vile away support that deserted Rangers ,and reattached themselves to the damned new club.

    Life is sweet.

Now I’ve stopped laughing hysterically, the thought strikes that they are now really, royally shafted.

Ashley holding the revenue streams, which are now much reduced as thousands of Huns do walking away from the annual XXXXL shirt-buying ritual.

Administration won’t save them this time – no mountain of debt to dump since they were too toxic for banks to let them amass one.

Liquidation is the only option I can see, with Ashley cashing in his chips, then drifting back south to carry on milking the cow he’s got chained to a radiator in Newcastle.

The words liquidation and Rangers will become synonyms. In future, a company going into liquidation will be referred to as “being Rangered”.

I have very high hopes that today marks the starting-point to them disappearing forever.

    And ever.

    Amen.

SSN = Sky Sevco News for those who have watched it with very little comment about today’s goings on at Fir Park. They will lay the blame at the two Motherwell players. Their ticker at the bottom of the screen says Motherwell had two players sent off but don’t explain why. It also mentions Mohsni being sent off.
