Knowing your limitations

1188

Rumour has it that prior to their play-off second leg against Hamilton Accies last season Terry Butcher spoke to his Hibs players about their prospective lap of honour.  It was fatal.  Two goals up from the first leg away from home, he thought the job was done.  Hibs were relegated despite having fourth highest wages in the division.

Scottish football is more competitive, healthier, than most would give it credit for.  As yesterday’s Scottish Cup Final demonstrated.  Two towns, emptied of most able bodied adults, urged their team onto what would be an historic win, whichever way it went.

John Hughes is a very modest man.  He speaks highly of his peers and considers himself someone who does the obvious things thoroughly.  Maybe knowing your limitations is the first step to achieving greatness.  I was delighted for him.  His predecessor at Inverness, Terry Butcher, flattered to deceive.

And quick as a flash a aberdeen fans shouts ” the blue pound couldn’t even keep rangers alive ” cue bedlam as everyone burst out laughing and he flys out the door in the usual hun rage. HH

Don’t think Celtic will win 10 in a row. They could if they wanted it to, but I don’t think they’ll stick it out with the Scottish structure long enough. Lawell seems to making moves to get Celtic out of this hell.

Rangers are a presenting an irritating paradox for us. Yes, They’ve brought this on themselves on and off the pitch. But we also need the competition. Aberdeen gave it a stab, but I don’t they’ll have the resources to maintain this. Even if Rangers come up next year, it’s going to take them years to seriously challenge us. It’s not good enough, as far as the TV companies are concerned, to have the Old Firm fixture on the Scot Prem fixture list. They demand a title race between Celtic and Rangers.

Celtics future in this league is now in the balance.

It won’t be England. The Atlantic League is off the table as well.

But I can, as out of left field as this sounds, setting up as an MLS franchise. This paves the way for Rangers to join us at a later date.

But this would mean Celtic leaving the Scottish tent, but also the UEFA tent. The MLS has Canadian franchises. It will be interesting to see it they want to go transatlantic with their expansion, baring in mind the fanbases both Glasgow clubs have in North America.

The MLS going places more than Soctland is for sure.

I would hate to see Sevco suffer liquidation the way their predecessors, Rangers, did.

I would far rather see them slip down the divisions until they reach the bottom of the lowest league, suffering excruciating humiliation all the way……THEN disappear forever into the history books.

Then they will have suffered enough (mibbe).

I was talking to pals in the pub today and out forward the hypothesis that the authorities may prefer to help to engineer a route out of Scottish football for us rather than risk 10+ titles coming our way.

    Players signed in 2012 … On 3 year contracts…

With a view of reaching the premiership…

90% wouldn’t get their lucrative contracts renewed as they wouldn’t be either fit for purpose or simply too old .

    19 out of contract ….

    The blacks moshnis ect…

Fresh clean slate for a manager to completely attract and build a squad good enough to compete …

    Now ….

They will need to do same again except they won’t be able to attract a biton, Brown Virgil … That type won’t play in a didier league than the SPL .

They will need to overspend on has -beens to attract the orc on deals that if they do reach the top league won’t be good enough … On two or more year deals with incremental raises if promotion in gained …

Not allowing a manager to completely overhaul in 2016/17  season if they get up

    Boyd. Enough said.

You can do this for every player. In our most important game. They’re literally not even
