Congratulations to everyone who participated in the 9-in-a-row CQN Charity Golf Day at Aberdour in Fife, yesterday. The event, auctions and raffles leading up to it raised £6000, the bulk of which will go to the 1254125 appeal, while some will go to Clic Sargent, who help families with children with that dreadful disease.
Lisbon Lion, Willie Wallace, and his wife Olive, were fantastic guests, who enjoyed spending a day with 70 or so friends. It doesn’t matter how far away Lisbon Lions live, you always find them the same way.
My sincere thanks to everyone who came along, bid of the auctions or bought a raffle ticket, all in aid of people you will never know. Thank you from all of us to John, Kevin and John, for their stressful work in pulling the event together, for the ninth year!

If you believe in this club, don’t leave it to someone else to take care of what’s important. The same goes for your season ticket. It has been over a century since we have been as close to the founding spirit of our club, but the sporting dramas which inspire us all are not achieved by new strikers, they are the fruits of tens of thousands fans buying season tickets.

Bobby Tait’s performance in the Huns v Kilmarnock game turned out to be a beautiful thing.
Its a moment I will always remember – listening to Shortbread as the minutes dragged by. The game was finally over by the time I stopped celebrating.
I’m sure Tait still has nightmares about it though.

I remember many years ago David Syme popping up on Radio Clyde.
It was during the Paul Cooney era, when Clyde was good.
Anyway, I cannot recall the exact details, but it was a Saturday afternoon, and Syme was interviewed live on air, it went something like-
Paul asked him why he was not refereeing that day, and Syme used words to the effect of ‘my game was off , cancelled due to weather at late notice, so I just popped round to ibrox’
Paul then asked , how he got in, and Syme responded along the lines of ‘I am here regularly, so they know me at the VIP entrance’
Paul then made a comment about him having no problems gaining entry, at which point, it dawned on Syme that he had dug himself into a hole.
Very amusing.

I was over in the Burrell a few months ago as it happens and had the same thought. I’d forgotten until recently that we used to come down to play on those grounds in one car. It got so cramped that the drivers nephew often ended up in the boot!

Last thing you recommended , pumped up kicks gets a regular airing here , including the Dermot Oleary session version which is on one of his Sessions CDs , which are a bit hit and miss but do have their moments.
