Let’s be clear, our football was corrupted

574

I see a bit of ‘It was five years ago, get over it’ going around today. Let’s be clear, our football was corrupted for over a decade as a dependency on spending money you don’t have took hold at Ibrox, infected many other clubs, before sending Rangers into administration and liquidation.  And that’s not touching side letters hidden from HMRC, shredded correspondence and hundreds of games undertaken with incorrectly registered players.  It was a very human tale of avarice and a desire to be seen as top dog in the social pecking order.

For 8 years before Administration Day the Cassandras on here who predicted what was to come, were also told to get over themselves, that as club as big and powerful as Rangers would always find someone to bail them out. Some of us were predicting the crash and burn a lot longer than that.

What I don’t read is ‘Get over it, the lessons have been learned’, because it is painfully obvious that at Ibrox, with the same directors in charge as before liquidation, prioritising financial security (for the club, that is) hasn’t happened. Every passing transfer window it’s also plain that we have more than a few adherents to David Murray’s ‘speculate to accumulate’ policy in the comments section.

So until the lesson has been learned (and a long time thereafter), I’ll reserve the right to recall the facts and financial reality, and to celebrate that great day: 14 February 2012, the first Administration Day at Ibrox.  If one day you read Newco statements that say, “We’re going to match expenditure to income, and be happy with who we are”, it could be the last admin there, but don’t hold your breath, this turkey has another turd to drop.

  1. If the Lord Almighty allows the Crew to develop, in these End Times, we will have a Xavi in the Ranks…. Or maybe Brendan will Buy one. :P

Not sure that helps your default position, which is if am not mistaken, that it would have been better had Celtic not been founded in Glasgow, but that given that they were it would be better if Celtic moved elsewhere, in your case Ireland. There are many that would agree with you on that one, but you something there won’t be many Celtic supporters who do, and certainly not this one.

    Great times

    Schadenfreude times.

Huns on the liquidation path once again. Yippee!

Barca F****! Hopefully PSG score an away goal and then Divealona will need 6.

Trumps security advisor turns out to be a Russian spy!!!

Not to worry though Innocent N****z, Ragheads and Wetbacks are getting F****D! That’s the main thing.

  4. Canamalar….

Of course the whole shebang should have been avoided. But in all business environments there are failures despite levels of regulation, memoranda and law. There are no guarantees even when there are no faults at the door of the relevant authorities. There was one entity responsible for liquidation…RFC 1872.

Clearly and obviously 50,000 punters don’t arrive at the gates of Station Park Forfar or even at Easter Road. The main point I was making was shutting out 50,000 people wanting to watch football. Why would any association do that….If avoidable? Almost all clubs would rather have the income boost of two or three thousand extra paying customers two or three times per year….I’d guess. Not sure if many Third Lanark fans decanted to Mount Florida, Maryhill or Shawfield.

The improvement in other clubs financial security has been as much to do with the financial crash and loss of TV income post Setanta. The fact that one club carried on regardless merely re-enforced the correctness of the new direction of travel.

Personally I would have shed no tears had they disappeared off the face of the earth or resigned themselves to life in the lower reaches of football. Equally I am happy for my bluenose friends and family to enjoy whatever it is they think they are watching!!!!

  5. Thoroughly deserved win for PSG. PSG were physically strong and well drilled into a high pressing game.

Barca had no right back to speak of and the young French centre back was awful. Luis Enrique will not survive this, anyone know of a man with a magic sombrero?

That lad Rabiot is going to be some player. Old head on young shoulders.

    Cavani’s workrate amazing.

The right-back Meunier I remember seeing him at the Euros. I posted on here a few times we should go for him. He was at Bruges at the time and I thought he would be gettable. Next I know he’s off to PSG for 18m!

My default position is it’s just the way I feel and see it, I have no axe to grind either way, we stay or we go, given that our choices are limited to say the least, Ireland for me would be the best bet, now if the choice was engerland the board would be down there quicker that I could post back to you.

I am ashamed of the country of my birth, that again is the way I feel, I can’t change that, facts are facts, I was jailed cos I am a Celtic supporter, for no other reason than that, none whatsoever, that is scotland, that I hope never ever happens to another Celtic supporter, but I do have me doubts, but it happened to me so my outlook may well differ from most, the country imo is a sectarian shithole.

The best thing I ever did for my family was leave, I was caught up in the wrong place the wrong time, given another time and place it may well have been different, who knows.

When there’s no bigot buck. Only then will Celtic PLC pursue other revenue sources e.g. EPL etc

otherwise Celtic will do a post 2012 Lawwell again.

Another reason to want thems gone.

Surely thems must be running out of money soon??

I have contrasting feelings. I love and loathe Scotland in equal measures.

It’s worth remembering that the reason you’re posting on here is a consequence of a football team that plays in Scotland.

  14. The Maestro controlled a midfield superbly well, my Favourite Celtic Player.

Xavi was so lucky to have Unbelievably skillful players alongside him.

The Almighty he determined Barca to be the greatest ever team to see in My Life?

Being a Celt, I Love that, Being me, I hope EVERY CELT gets to watch CELTIC when ever they can NOW.

Aidan bought his hun ticket himself (under 16) despite going to Switzerland it would have mean’t…. LOVE gets you through these moments, ME…. Ive not been to see him since he moved to Switzerland, Since he went there years ago….. And he belittled Me and Aidan wanting to pull out of going there on that Weekend.

That annoyed me – I intend to change his mentality when we are there, Aidan’s school keep sending letters that Aidan isn’t doing well enough. Aidans wee bro Dominic has Loved the last 2 games being last row watching Celtic.

I need to buy loads of gear to go there, we will do it, I want to Sledge – no no go get ski lessons.

My Sisters rave (and they are too old to be Ravers) about being there, I know it will be GREAT. ;)

Not for me, yes he is oh so popular, his Family especially.

I’d much rather go with Aidan and watch the CELTIC beat Rangers 12 -0.

Being an honest people me and Aidan will go skiing in Switzerland, His wee English Cousin and his Hardcore Celtic Uncle will be watching the Superb Celtic in a game that Strengthens their Mentality.

    21,

We’ll just have to disagree on their importance or benefit to Scottish football, they were granted a domestic license they should never have had never mind UEFA license. The SFA conspired with them to defraud Scottish football and people are expected to just ignore it as acceptable behaviour as long as the Huns can keep a club playing out the cesspit.

There is nae doubt Xavi was much better than Paul McStay.

Most Tims will disagree. We recognise the wonderful ability that Xavi had but because we’re Celtic supporters Paul will always be better.

    To disagree would be trolling.

The Director of Football thing looks like a smokescreen to me.

A top manager won’t work under a DOF. They know they can’t get any quarter-decent manager anyway, so get a DOF and an – ahem – “development” coach/manager and pretend that’s the reason.

Gullibears will swallow it no problem.
