Let’s be clear, our football was corrupted

574

I see a bit of ‘It was five years ago, get over it’ going around today. Let’s be clear, our football was corrupted for over a decade as a dependency on spending money you don’t have took hold at Ibrox, infected many other clubs, before sending Rangers into administration and liquidation.  And that’s not touching side letters hidden from HMRC, shredded correspondence and hundreds of games undertaken with incorrectly registered players.  It was a very human tale of avarice and a desire to be seen as top dog in the social pecking order.

For 8 years before Administration Day the Cassandras on here who predicted what was to come, were also told to get over themselves, that as club as big and powerful as Rangers would always find someone to bail them out. Some of us were predicting the crash and burn a lot longer than that.

What I don’t read is ‘Get over it, the lessons have been learned’, because it is painfully obvious that at Ibrox, with the same directors in charge as before liquidation, prioritising financial security (for the club, that is) hasn’t happened. Every passing transfer window it’s also plain that we have more than a few adherents to David Murray’s ‘speculate to accumulate’ policy in the comments section.

So until the lesson has been learned (and a long time thereafter), I’ll reserve the right to recall the facts and financial reality, and to celebrate that great day: 14 February 2012, the first Administration Day at Ibrox.  If one day you read Newco statements that say, “We’re going to match expenditure to income, and be happy with who we are”, it could be the last admin there, but don’t hold your breath, this turkey has another turd to drop.

If people in Scotland cannot be assured that principles of justice are applied in relation to Football, it can only be corrupt.

The same mentality that denied the people of Liverpool the TRUTH, is well entrenched in this medieval monstrosity of a country.

  4. Celtic ARE UNBEATEN in all domestic competitions and just one drawn game. I know ye all know that but just pause & think about it.

We are playing Champagne Football, we have some absolutely outstanding players & an outstanding Manager.

The team turns up and game after game come up trumps in some style for 1 or 2 days CQN is a bastion of peace & happiness & then all the angst & hassle kicks off again and for the most part we are talking about the Hun in some form or the other.

If that is what turns people on who am I to complain.

Well you are certainly the only one that specifically mentioned Ireland, maybe the others lack the courage of your convictions. Anyways not sure how Celtic moving to Dublin would go down with all the West Brits over there, Chelsea/Celtic choices choices.

Totally understand your point of view and intend to follow your example in taking a sabbatical.

Also, join with you in expressing empathy and best wishes to JFH and his good lady. Hope the surgical procedure is a total success and Mrs JFH is soon home hearty and healthy.

  9. The passage of time has fogged memories of events since 2011 but documents do exist that will clear that fog when the time is right which is after the justice system has runs it’s course.

However you can put your hat on this. The SPL Board were not unanimous on accepting the LNS Decision, but the legal advice they were given, which was ebts were not illegal and so others could use them, was only possible because the use of illegal ebts (DOS) was kept from them AND the Board members had no way of knowing a difference between DOS and BTC ebts existed.

That was in 2012 but in 2014 the SPFL Board were informed via SFM of the illegal nature of ebts but chose to ignore the information.

If Supreme Court rules BTC ebts illegal it will be impossible to ignore what this means for LNS.

Celtic were forced to accept LNS in 2012 because of the legal advice in 2012, they were told in 2014 of DOS ebts and have had 3 years since then to prepare their stance under the umbrella of the appeal process.

Silence, if HMRC get the nod will simply not be an option for Celtic or Scottish football and no amount of media spin is going to stop justice happening.

If the English FA can attract a vote of No Confidence in Westminster then the SFA and SPFL are toast when the full extent of duplicity becomes known.

Thanks Auldheid for the reminders f what happened, it is of course hard to keep all of this in the head:))

Let’s hope you’re right and we can get on with cleaning up the game and supporting one of the best Celtic teams in a good while.

Serious man love for our Manager!

  12. HI – I NEED A FAVOUR. ABOUT 2-3 YEARS AGO THERE WAS A LINK TO A DOWNLOAD ON THE SITE. IT WAS A 15-20 PAGE DOCUMENT ON THE DEMISE OF RANGERS. DOES ANYONE RECALL IT AND HAVE A LINK TO IT?

    MUCH APPRECIATED IN ADVANCE

  13. Auldheid

Why did they ignore this in 2014, and who were on the SPFL board who chose to ignore it? Of course you can only answer if you know, I know plenty and I mean plenty of Celtic supporters who haven’t a clue about Res 12, the differnce between DOS and EBT’s, do not mention LNS and the outcome of his fake enquiry into registrations and are only interested in watching the team today which is entertaining, well coached well managed scoring goals is in a position of dominance and nothing will stop them supporting the team, so what will force Celtic to act? I am much less confident than you Celtic plc will do anything evn if the outcome goes the way of Hector the Tax Collector.

  14. PSG v Barca. Let’s concentrate on football. Too much concern over the fate of the Manky Mob. It’s not as if we have not seen all this pantomime before.

  15. SSN there, Jeff to Cammy ‘Garry Monk heavily linked with *Rangers’ hahahahaha what are they paying Leeds with, IOU’s?

  16. AULDHEID on 14TH FEBRUARY 2017 4:59 PM…

Well said as others have today. Like most on here that suffered the hun gloating as they cheated their way to titles and cups and to a European final that should also be challenged by EUFA (why not?) they want to kid on their the same… Pay the consequences of their cheating ways.

A lot of us probably skint ourselves to take our kids during that period, it should be addressed with. HH

We are synonymous with Glasgow. All the better for it, as a club, in my view despite our travails.

Interesting wee story in today’s Evening Times (Celtic). There is a sale of Celtic programmes 40-50 from the 1930s and 1940s, in an auction down South. Looking at the photo gallery, there was one, from 1931 or so, with the editorial readable. Said editorial was written following a narrow defeat at Ibrox, and focused on, you guessed it, a disallowed Jimmy McGrory goal. Random programme from the 1930s……..same old story!

  18. macjay1 for Neil Lennon on

Disagree by all means , but I think it would be reasonable to argue that the Celtic Board knows exactly what it is doing in all aspects of managing the surging fortunes of Celtic F.C.

  19. Aye, let’s be clear.

As long as the Earth continues to be a habitable planet, there will ALWAYS be a fitba club based at that Victorian shitehole in Govan. There will always be a ‘Rainjurs.’

    Unless!

“Unless whit?”, I hear you say.

Well maybe if an asteroid impacts on the planet, wiping out everything in its path.

“Aye, that should do the trick!”

    Or would it?!
