Living within your means still resisted

953

Michel Platini’s Financial Fair Play initiative at Uefa has been one of the more inspiring developments at the top of our game for decades.  It brought spending into line with income throughout the English game and punished what Platini called financial doping.

It has been so effective, Platini now promises to relax the rules.  The blame does not all sit with Platini.  Uefa are dealing with 10 legal challenges to the rules, with complainant clubs citing European Law in their defence.  The big football powers are split.  The English appear in favour of FPP (Manchester City aside), while many stressed clubs across Europe are in opposition.

The concept of living within your means is still resisted in our game, not just in barred hold-outs in Scotland.

so let me get this right

The SFA have now received the document from dave king that gets him passed the kid on test .

I am sure I saw an article that a mr king handed a document to the HIGH court in SA that he had agreed a settlement with SARS only for the said document to be later found to be a forgery and leading to an added charge of fraud being made against mr king .

Why bother having all those criteria if there’s a “discretionary” cop-out?

Why not just say it’s discretionary without all the criteria?

It is all about the money not the football that has been the case since the Rangers fiasco started Scottish clubs including Celtic want the money that they can make with the huns in the SPL the integrity of the game has not been considered. H.H.

He will be relying on the SB money, not his own …..then, when the time is right, he will bleed them dry, just like dm did……..

  10. Sorry to go against the Zeitgeist of talking about Huns, WW3 or crap versus slightly more than crap wages…but

Really looking forward to the game on Sun. Think I have been at more euro than league games this year for various reasons so feel a bit of a fraud.

Need to find a way to let others use my SB next season when I am not there. Gathers dust in my wallet too many times.

We will see how happy we are, when those racist, sectarian bigots, turn up in droves at Celtic Park, and the Hun media are telling us every day, how much we need Rangers.

Well done to the old firm eejits, who cant wait to be abused by vile morons at Celtic Park.

That’s what you wanted, I hope you enjoy it.

All that is left to salvage a vestige of integrity, is for Celtic to tender a notice to leave Scottish football.

It won’t happen, of course, but it would fairly cause UEFA to sit up and make a comment.

I think that there would be a few leagues who would welcome Celtic.

Does anyone remember my mantra of BC or DC as the only honourable options open to Celtic?

    Was I wrong?

I know I shouldn’t listen but if any huns or superscoreboard staff are looking in,the reason why Celtic fans are interested in what happens at Ibrox because their dodgy, underhand practices have proven to have an affect on not only our finances but also the reputation of Scottish football.

If any radio presenters are reading you would have more credibility if you would mention these two important facts.

    Ibrox needs watching.

  19. Joe Filippis Haircut on

It wont be to difficult to pay Mike Ashley his 5 million if as I think the Rangers will be in the SPL next season they will be able to pay it back from season ticket sales. That will keep King in the good books of the hun support. They will fill there team with loan players and kids and they will be good enough to finish with a little help from the mib in the top six. H.H.

I won’t waste my energy worrying about them.

We’ve had a good few years without them, beyond my expectations. They’re coming back, one way or another and we’ll have to suffer it again. It’s been a great and refreshing few years without them. Let’s just put them in their place and make them wish they were still touring the Highlands again.

What are you all whining about?

King is fit and proper for Scottish Football.

“On 14 June 2002 BBC News referred to South African reports that King faced eleven counts of fraud when he appeared at the Regional Court in Randburg, near Johannesburg. He was alleged to owe the tax authorities over 900 million Rand: approximately £60m. King’s tax problems began after he bought an Irma Stern painting at an auction for R1.7 million in 2000. This attracted the attention of Charles Chipps, special investigator at the South African Revenue Service, SARS, who was surprised to discover that King had declared a taxable income of only R60,000.

After a decade of legal process, including an agreed, but vetoed, settlement, King eventually reached an agreement with the South African High Court whereby he pled guilty to 41 criminal counts of contravening the South Africa Income Tax Act and agreed to pay a fine of 80,000 Rand per criminal conviction or 3.28 million Rand in total. As part of the deal to drop the other 281 criminal charges he faced, King also agreed that he would pay the Criminal Assets Recovery Account of the South African Authorities 8.75 million Rand in compensation. King was originally indicted on 322 counts including fraud, tax evasion and evasion of exchange control regulations, as well as money-laundering and racketeering.”

  30. Hell mend the lot of them. The SFA for making a deal with the devil, and Sevco fans for thinking he’s the messiah.
