Lock up game’s tax deviants

887

The football industry is busy with its twice-a-year transfer jamboree this week but there will scarcely be a player, manager or executive in the country who isn’t daily checking on Harry Redknapp’s on-going court case into his alleged tax arrangements.

Harry, of course, is one of the game’s popular figures, everyone likes him, including me, but his evidence yesterday, that he’s been told “The problem with you is you’re named Harry and you have a cockney accent”, will have the nation pondering if he’s another victim of the systemic prejudice against white, wealthy, indigenous-named, senior and successful people from London.  There must surely be a support group he can join.

I’m sure Harry’s innocence will be established but the law and tax authorities are right to pursue any doubt that exists in the running of the game, without fear or favour.  Where appropriate, pursue the guilty through criminal, not just civil, courts.  Only then will the innocent be sure of a level playing field. Lock ‘Em Up, as a Cockney may observe.

We have never seen a team like Barca at it’s pomp.

With Messi and co they are a beauty to behold.

All i’m saying is the LL were equally good for their time.

  2. FIFA transfer regulations concerning the countries association duties (SFA I would have thought) quote from below ” It shall be

at the discretion of the relevant decision-making body to take account of any contractual amendments or additional agreements that have NOT been duly submitted to it. ” surely this would have to cover additional monetary contracts for the same player. See Page 10 of pdf document link below

    Article 8 Application for Registration

The application for registration of a Professional must be submitted together with a copy of the player‘s contract. It shall be at the discretion of the relevant decision-making body to take account of any contractual amendments or additional agreements that have not been duly submitted to it.

    A wee thought

If UEFA have grown a pair…and it looks like they have, Man City and Chelsea…your days are numbered.

    And not before time…

    —————————–

I heard Andy Gray and Richard Keys on Talksport almost arrogantly dismiss this story. Their comments had an “aye that will be right” smugness about them ,reflecting the character of said pundits.

Of course, as in Scotland, you would not expec balanced comment on an issue that risks emptying the trough their snouts are in. UEFA seem confident their rules will stand legal challenge and I hope they are right. English footbal has all but killed the game up here (well that and Rangers)

The contract has to mean the contract to pay and that must mean the full contract to pay, So were all contract details provided and if they were did no one in the SFA at the time not think to ask what the EBT referred to and then get advice?

Either the SFA were slack/complicit or Rangers failed to provide full contract documentation.

Late call for me tonight but I have a wee question if anyone can help.

Do we have any idea when the post-split fixtures will be announced by the redoubtable SPL?

Specifically, I’m trying to work out when the Celts will be playing at home after the April 7 game away to Kilmarnoock.

If the cursor freezes it may be a sign that the memory or CPU is being dominated by a rogue process to the extent that

the system doesn’t have enough resource available to even respond to your ‘mouse move inputs’.

Look on the task manager, see what the CPU and memory usages are next time it happens, if they’re maxxed out then see what

process is gobbling them. Then end that process.

Did you say it was an HP? There is a known problem with HPMSGSVC.EXE (or very similar) on recent HP’s.

Had to laugh at Darrell King’s childish response to Terry on Radio Clyde tonight (could almost hear the rustling of the paper he’d written his right of reply on):

    – DK (amongst others) wants RTC outed. That’s the thanks you get for going after the biggest sports story in years.

    – DK doesn’t read RTC but has certain information on it sent to him (probably by Delahunt).

    – DK states he has been ‘told’ (probably by Broadfoot) that any possible contract issues regarding the Horrible Undignified Neds have SFA to do with the S.F.A.. REPEAT: he has been ‘told’ – he has not actually bothered finding out for himself.

  21. You really have to admire the medias strategy to aid rangers in their desperation to keep their head above water.

‘rangers reject £7m bid from hammers’

Let’s get things clear here! Jelavic WON’T be at ibrox after Tuesday!

It’s conditioning of the the orca support that is plain for everyone to see… Except them!

IF the motherwell billionaire sold jelavic now the orcs would DEMAND investment in the team,Whyte in my opinion needs that funding for other more pressing parts of their operation.

If the Orc get wind of that will they renew season tickets next month??? I don’t think so !

Therefore the pantomime will rollout like this..

*media reports of a unhappy jelavic

*he will be sold with minutes to go on Tuesday night with a club statement of them not wanting a unhappy player at club.

*they will get a freebie in after the window perhaps Boyd.

With citing that they had no time to “buy” a replacement.

*or the boy from rapid with headlines of “why I turned down Celtic” when REALLY we aren’t interested in him!

Lol the latest effort to rally the Rangers fans!

    http://www.scotsman.com/sport/football/spl/times_hard_at_rangers_but_it_was_worse_in_the_early_80s_says_willie_johnston_1_2081346

Times are hard but it was worse in the 80’s!

And you know what’s significant about the 80’s? They had to live within their means. Cue the English clubs being banned from Europe and the arrival of big money at Rangers and that was the birth of the modern era, which the fans of today essentially grew up with.

Other people’s money built Rangers “world record” success. Back in the early 80’s, when they had to depend on income from tickets and gate reciepts … this is who they were.

Welcome to the future of our rivals. It looks suspiciously like John Greig.

Good shout. I haven’t listened to Frankie Millar for a long time. A lot of his songs make me feel sad.

Never saw him at his prime but did catch hima couple of times with The Pogues at the Barrowlands, once on St Patrick’s Day after we humped the Hun. No sadness that night :)

If/ when ebt loans to rangers players are ruled as being contractual wage payments by the FTT, surely this means that rangers have not supplied the SFA with the documentation necessary to register any number of players over a dozen or so seasons.

Does this mean that all those players have to be reclassed as ineligible?

Does that mean that all games any such player was involved in must be rescored 3:0 to the opposition or voided?

Does it mean that trophies won over the period are voided as well?

I managed to pick up 3 of his albums on CD in a shop in Paisley about 10 years ago. Really like him and his voice is amazing, but if you’re feeling broken-hearted and listen to Frankie’s love songs, then you are sure to have a wee greet.
