I got it wrong on Malky MacKay. In August I wrote, “Malky’s unforgivable sin is not racism, homophobia or anti-Semitism, these matters are often overlooked as ‘banter’, after all. He’ll not get another job because he blew millions on players who were useless to Cardiff. That’s the only kind of offence football really tales notice of.”
Then up stepped Dave Whelan, a man who is widely respected in the sports retail and football, largely for not being Mike Ashley, but who has watched his club slip from the Premier League and now sit in a relegation spot in the Championship.
Football is harsh enough without clubs creating their own distractions. Wigan and Malky are unlikely to prosper.
So Craig Whyte faces up to four weeks in jail if/when he is arrested. You have to wonder what his police interviews will reveal. Craig doesn’t strike me as someone to take a fall for anyone.
Redundancies are sometimes necessary for a company losing money and without the resources to pay bills, but Newco Rangers cutting the payroll by 10, none of them from the well paid football department, is pointless tokenism. Savings made will keep the lights on for only a few days more, so why do it?
I have some sympathy for their new management. They need to make significant cuts into football costs, but those costs are contracted to the end of the season, or beyond, these cuts are perhaps a gesture towards what’s ahead.
Management have a problem, how do they meet commitments to creditors and protect shareholder value? No bank has ever extended credit to this club, and I suspect HMRC have them on a short leash. There will be some trade creditors, but they are likely to be of the face painter variety. By far the biggest creditor, and therefore most influential after an insolvency event, is Mike Ashley. He would be in a position to appoint an administrator, and to approve any settlement.
Dave King continues to play an important role, encouraging fans not to support or spend with the club. I fully endorse his views.
King still thinks he is playing poker but his hand has been called and we all know he’s all out of aces. His rantings are not part of a coherent plan. His calls could precipitate the end, but he has no way of transforming this into a new dawn.
Remember to keep an eye on the long-term fundamentals, you cannot operate a large football club with the size of Newco’s infrastructure without regular Champions League income. Nothing that has happened in the last three years has changed this.

HH friend. Disagree with you re Broonie resigning, agree re Celtic management of PR in advance of the AGM.
Broonie definitely brings more than the sum of his “footballing” parts to the team. I think if he had have been available for the Maribor game then we would have made it into the CL proper. We certainly would not have capitulated the way in which we did.
Anyhooos, Celtic supporters “discussions” remind me very much of the story about Republican meetings, the first item on the agenda was the “split”. Put two Celtic supporters into a room and you will get three opinions on the same topic.

You can only have a fire sale when you have buyers, who in there right mind would buy any of the sevco squad.
Does anybody under the age of 50 post on here?
Good news that Brown has signed up for 4 more years. He is a leader on and off the park and very much needed in this transitional period. Very happy on hearing this news.
AGM… not everything is a conspiracy. Let’s see what happens.

My nephew had him in his pocket when I saw McLeod up close. Seriously over hyped a la John Fleck the Yoker Tim.
Bada,
Spot on mate, it’s time garner and build rather weaken the nucleus of our team.
hun skelper,
Good point…how about a car boot sale then:))
Sips@22.38
Thanks for that, real lol moment.
Although the fact that I knew immediately who Hatti Jaques was is somewhat of a disappointment (to me).

OK,I know everyone is entitled to their opinion.Sorry, but the opinions of certain people on here complaining about Scott Browns new contract,in any way,are talking bollox, and know nothing of what is important to a team.Thats my opinion on their opinions.
And in my opinion,my opinion,is the correct opinion.
Only my opinion of course. The last bit I mean, when I mentioned lots of opinions.
Jude.
Know its a TD re Mc Leod(GIRUT) but saw on here the other day that twas he that “done” Paul George.
sipsini-time to back the manager properly now.HH
Delighted Broony has signed a new contract.
“Downsizing” ?
“Show me the evidence”

Holby must be over.
Broonie signing will encourage others to do the same…….I think his influence as Captain is huge. Give me Lustig, Izzy, Forrest, Guidetti, Denayer, and VVD (although don’t think we will keep Virgil) on long term contracts.
Mike in Toronto
Disagree on Broonie.
Despite his manifest limitations he’s more than the sum of his parts and makes a huge difference to the team.
You’ll mibbee see it better live.
So c’mon over. Pronto!
Aff oot to NI for a flying visit tomorrow.
Early up.
Bedtime beckons.

Your opinions are too opinionated !

Hmm..glad to hear that about EK.
it was always rather hunnish.
Best Player from Lochaber, IMHO was George Campbell, known to all including his teachers as Pele. He was signed by Aberdeen and made his debut aged 16.5yrs.
He could do amazing tricks with the ball including running over the ball and then flicking it back over his head and collecting it on the run.
He played in the Aberdeen team that beat Celtic mid 70s, LCup final but at about 5ft 5ins was eventually deemed too small for Scot Prof football.
He was then signed by an Australian Club for quite a high fee but I think broke his leg(s) in a bad car crash. An incredibly talented guy,

“We certainly would not have capitulated the way in which we did.” I dont disagree with that. And I have always said that SB has his uses …. he can disrupt better teams. I would have him in a midfield five against Barcelona…. he can stop other teams, no doubt..
But we need to aim higher than losing well….. we have to start aiming to be able to outthink/outpass and generally outplay other teams…. and that starts in the miiddle of the park… and SB doesn’t bring enough of that to the table… and certainly not enough to justify (i) a starting spot, or (ii) what we are paying him. There are better/cheaper alternatives….

One final plug for the Raffle tickets – we are a whisker away from reaching the total. We thought this would take at least a few weeks to achieve – in fact we did it in a few days.
If you haven’t bought a ticket yet, support what we are doing with this advertisement and want to push us over the line – you can buy the tickets at http://www.cqnbookstore.com
You can buy 1, 2, 4 or 10 tickets. We will keep these offers up for a while and all surplus funds will be donated to the Malawi schools projects supported so well be CQNers this year.
Celticrollercoaster has agreed to independently audit the raffle funds, stick all names in a Paddybhoy1888 / CQN Beanie Hat and draw out the raffle winners – we will do this at the CQN5s Night Out in early December so there will be plenty of witnesses to make sure it is fair and above board.
Thanks to all who has helped crowd fund this project. It has brought me many new email acquaintances – none of whom can spell – and it has been a pleasure pointing out their mistakes and I hope that these improvements in their language skills will give them the confidence to purchase the Sunday Herald on 25th January.
Well when it comes to the appropriate plans and general vision for Celtic football club its so comforting to note that most Celtic supporters vision for the future of Celtic is like the bored’s….mare shite!

One of the Carry on mob, might have been Sid James, said that Hattie was an incredibly sexy woman, radiating the room with her presence when she walked in.
Sid had form there right enough.
