Manager happy with preparations ahead of tomorrow

Half the battle when it comes to PR is not to score an own goal, which Neil Lennon managed to do in his pre-match press conference today when asked about the local ‘tradition’ of ritualistic animal slaughter before the game.  “You have to respect the traditions in Kazakhstan, they have a different culture.  We have our traditions.

“Our scouts watched Shakhter’s game against Astana on Friday.  We know the played a weakened team.

“We arrived early to adapt to the weather condition.  The journey went well.

“Tomorrow we play against a strong team.  It’s important to get a good result in the first game to increase our chances of reaching the Champions League group stage.”

Really looking forward to this one now.

Whether supporting Celtic is down to being born one,or becoming one,it matters not.

    We remain one.

    And that’s why it matters.

There are bigger and more important things in life, but Celtic is a constant.

I don’t understand why English people are complaining about all the foreigners

The only reason it can be considered “The best league in the world” is because of the foreign owners spending millions, the millions coming in from foreign fans and sponsors to fund the foreign players who bring the overall quality of the league through the roof.

I don’t know if it’s worth a Ph.D but I feel it’s something more than the glib assertion that as we progress through our middle ages a big match is a reminder of our younger selfs , reminder we are alive.

As a man in his fifties I wonder why I still wake up with butterflies in my stomach on days like these. Perhaps to misappropriate a really irritating tag in it’s ‘because their worth it’

Charlie Green’s played a blinder by the looks of it.

Locked out until December of selling the 5 million shares he got for 1p, and with the price tumbling daily, he’s now able to dump them with immediate effect.

5 million at 40p (if he can get that) is a tidy return for a year’s Barnum impression.

They don’t see it like that… They believe it’s the best league in the world and there are Englush players in the league, therefore England should have the best team in the world. Fans of smaller clubs get it..

So Challs has agreed to sell his shareholding in sevco.

Was he not locked in til later this year? Has that condition been voided by today’s departure?

Is this all a choreographed row to allow him to take his profits?

  11. The Patrick Missal has made a slow start to the CQN predictor, languishing in 53rd place (love the name CRC ;o) )

As for the Fantasy Premier League, joint top after the first set of fixtures is FC balance sheet and RudiVatasknees scoring an impressive 91 pts.

Have a staggering 132 people playing this year – thanks to all who have joined!

I agree there is a lot of delusion. Just look at how overrated Jack Wilshere is.

That Barkley at Everton is being talked up something awful.

  13. Good luck tonight Hoops!

Depending on injuries I’m hoping we will set up….Forster, Lustig Van Dijk Mulgrew Izaguirre, Forrest Brown Ledley Commons Samaras, Watt.

With Boerrigter, Balde & Kayal coming on at some point in the second half. Perfect!

  14. Best of luck to The Bhoys in Kazahkstan today. Going to be difficult but as long as we are still in the game for the return Ill be happy.

I would take any draw at the moment but obviously hope for a win!

Fifties? You`re just a wee barra.

For me it`s a lovely link to those who introduced me to Celtic. For me,it`s a reminder of family members, some no longer with us.

It`s our fellow punters who are worth it.

We should thank the hun.He is partly responsible for our bond.

  16. Morning folks,

Biggest game of the season tonight.

My team (without knowing fitness status) would be:

    Fraz

    Mikael Stevo Virgil Charlie

    Adam Scott Beram Joe

    Kris

    Gorgeous

I have read a lot about their 6ft+ players and their tendancy to play long diagonals, so based on this I wold sacrifice Emilio in place of Charlie to combat the height weakness in our full back area.

Ambrose on the bench for this match as we need to retain possession and Efe is our weakest member when it comes to keeping their head when pressurised.

A change to the norm, but I would start Matthews in place of Forrest because he is a better defensive option on the right. Forrest as an impact sub for the last 15 – 20mins.

I have also heard a lot of people say that we need a no.10 type player, but I think we already have him in Commons. He is our key inventive player for this season and if given the options ahead of him can unlock defenses with one pass. Special player.

Samaras is our no.9 for a reason. Needs to be coached into playing that role without drifting the left wing like most of our forwards.

Hopefully if we do well in this fixture, it will give us enough confidence to secure a Hooper-esk penalty box striker that we are craving.

Any thoughts on the likely line-up?

Whenever I read about these sort of stories I always think of Dick Beattie; jailed for his part in the English match fixing/ betting scandal of the 60s.

In Dick’s favour is of course the fact he played in the 1957 Scottish League Cup Final, even if he failed to keep a clean sheet.

  27. jimbo67, I have bad news for you son, it doesn’t get any easier as you get older. I’m 65 and also have the butterflies in my stomach. Can’t see Lenny throwing in both Steven & Virgil on at the start, he will stick more with the lads who have been through the Mill before. Likewise I don’t expect Amido or Derk to start either. I’d take a score draw today, heres hoping.
