Manager happy with preparations ahead of tomorrow

854

Half the battle when it comes to PR is not to score an own goal, which Neil Lennon managed to do in his pre-match press conference today when asked about the local ‘tradition’ of ritualistic animal slaughter before the game.  “You have to respect the traditions in Kazakhstan, they have a different culture.  We have our traditions.

“Our scouts watched Shakhter’s game against Astana on Friday.  We know the played a weakened team.

“We arrived early to adapt to the weather condition.  The journey went well.

“Tomorrow we play against a strong team.  It’s important to get a good result in the first game to increase our chances of reaching the Champions League group stage.”

Really looking forward to this one now.

My main source is this CD Lugo (his new club) blog.

    http://mcordido.blogspot.co.uk/2013/07/fran-sandaza-cuarto-fichaje-del-lugo.html

This post went up on July 18, the day Sandaza signed.

The comments are very interesting. The blogger says Sandaza turned up with his advisors, held a formal meeting with the CD Lugo president, and then appeared on the pitch and was happy to talk to assembled media. On his departure from Sevco, the player had this to say:

“I was one of the star players. They had signed me to score goals, but I got quite a bad injury and I was out for four months. And, basically, they wanted me out because of that. I was one of the best paid players in the squad and they wanted to go with someone else up front. But they did it [got rid of Sandaza] in the worst possible way.

“That thing about the phone call [from Tommy] was just an excuse. It wasn’t anything over which they should have been able to cancel my contract, and the fact is I have reached an agreement with Rangers. I thought it might end in court, because they signed me for four years, but both sides reached an agreement and that was for the best.”

These comments are on the link I have posted. If you just like looking at pictures, you will see several of Fran in his jeans-and-snakebelt chic look and, in the last one, Fran showing off his ball skills for the media in Lugo and accidentally setting off the sprinkler system.

“Does anyone think that while all these qualifiers last season, this season and probably next season, while totally galling, are actually helping Celtic to develop as a team and try out tactics and formations before the actual main event ( not taking Shakter Karagandy for granted).”

I think we go into the match with Shakter Karagandy in much better shape than we were at this stage last season.

Celtic have a full squad available and we are looking a lot sharper than we were even two weeks ago.

The earlier start was always likely to work in our favour if we reached this stage of the qualifiers. I don’t know anything about this mob, but I know Celtic have much more experience at this level.

I’m pretty confident we’ll go through.

Given that those two would be most likely to score from a corner and given that Karagandy are supposed to have giant defenders, those odds are maybe not as attractive as they seem.

The Steve Jennings arrest was to do with heavy betting from the Liverpool area (where Jennings was youth player with Wayne Rooney at Everton) that there would be a red card in the game against Hearts.

Jennings got a second yellow 8 minutes from time for mouthing off to Referee Steve O’Reilly.

Black was at hearts at the time.

  10. So let me get this right, Sevco/Oldco have cheated, have employed a benefits trust scheme that allowed them to gain a sporting advantage, have bumped the British tax payer to the tune of multiple millions, have bumped other creditors the same, employed a sectarian signing policy for over 100 years, have a poisonous , violent support , have had the MSM doing their bidding and now have a player allegedly in a betting scandal????

Him and his wife even went back to Kibera a couple months later off their own bat to do some more charity work in the schools we worked in. If you or your niece want contact details just let me know.

BT, no bother any queries just ask,

OriginalSadiesBhoy, i think you have a point, i feel this team gelled together when we fluked it into the Europa League which was the making of us and the group was more a CL group. This team have 26 or so games under their belt and thats good experience, i think the trick is to limit the number of first team players leaving to 3 no more or you rip the hear out of the team.

We have gambled and having seen karagandy in the flesh against St Pats i feel we should win with the right application, and should that happen i’d expect to see better quality first pick players signed….

The Huns must be getting on for the longest running Scottish comedy series ever. Galton and Simpson couldnt write better sketches.

having been away a bit during the summer, I hadnt kept up to speed on the Charlotte releases.

Tonight I have, I am sure it was talked about on here at the time but, the one thats an invitation from Old Rangers to Nimmo, Douglas and Dallas is just incredible.

Do these individuals in their businesses and indeed their sporting lives have to declare these junkets to any of their superiors for approval.

Remind me Dec l 2011, what was happening to our own manager around that time, and how many charges was he up for.

Paranoid, we were not Paranoid enough.
