Midweek change for Celtic

940

Busy article today, watch out for notes at the bottom on:

Magners ticket competition for 27 December
Mary’s Meals Malawi school kitchen appeal
CQN Annual, final few posting days before…..
CQN Christmas Raffle – winners have been drawn

One of the resources Ronny Deila has been short of since taking over is training days.  Players have stamina, fitness and speed training work to do every week, while there’s rest time before and after games, so time to work on technical aspects are a premium.

Believe it or not, this is the first midweek Celtic haven’t had a game, or players away on international duty, since the second week of July.  The manager has spoken of how difficult it has been to carry out the extensive tactical changes he has introduced spending only stolen minutes working on them.  The January break will give him another opportunity to spend hours with the players on tactical work.

Apparently newco are keeping McCoist as some kind of blubber human shield for Monday’s AGM!  Nice one.  There’s nothing degrading about that, very classy in fact.  Really disappointed for Ally, I’m sure he could almost taste the £400k he’s counting on – to go quietly.  Let’s hope he puts on a show on Monday and they sort him out thereafter.

It’s almost worth buying a newco share to get along on Monday.  Almost.

It’s been a while since I’ve paid any attention to the man who’s apparently lined-up to replace McCoist next week, Billy Davies.  After his interesting second stint at Nottingham Forest ended earlier this year, The Guardian wrote:

“[Davies] has paid the price for failing to control a personality which latterly seemed to have crossed the border into downright paranoia.

“[He] could never quite escape his self-destructive insecurities.”

It’s not often you read a national newspaper liberally speculating on the mental health, or lack thereof, of an individual.

Failing to control his personality, downright paranoia, self-destructive insecurities!  He’s perfect.  Is there a job in the land this guy is more suited for than newco’s manager?

Our pals at Magners have kindly offered a pair of premium seat tickets to the Jock Stein Stand at the home game on 27 December in support of our Mary’s Meals appeal.  You can win the tickets by email me at celticquicknews@gmail.com the answer to the question:

Who do Celtic play on 27 December?

Competition closes at 22:00 tonight (Thursday) so get your entry in.

If you’re entering the competition please consider donating £1 to Mary’s Meals here, where we are hoping to build a kitchen at a school in Chibwata, Dowa, Malawi, for their 909 children.

I’d a look at John Guidetti’s interview with Magners this week, he looks like he’s enjoying himself……..

We’ve drawn the CQN Christmas Raffle, winner of the Special Whisky and CQN Package is ticket number 976, from a lucky reader based in Lythm, we’ll be in touch.

The four runners up all win CQN Packages with ticket numbers 1072, 974, 1190 and 1051, check your tickets, we’ll be in touch soon.

Still time to order your 2015 CQN Annual for Christmas.

You can also order the CQN Annual and DVD bundle here. It’s a great offer, check it out – oh, and there’s tons of photos, fresh stories and comment on the first time Inter faced the green and white hoops.

How is unbecoming of our great club to have Griffiths in the development squad. Please explain that one.

  5. Maybe its just the paranoid timminess that courses through me but does anyone else feel it is a little strange that in the same week that we announce an initiative to allow the unemployed to watch a Celtic match for free and the huns II descend into farce again the SMSM drop the bombshell that Celtic and Peter Lawwell helped draft the fabled five way agreement?

Is it on telly or CELTIC TV ….?

  8. Jimmci,

I think you are jumping to conclusions

You may be right, but equally it may be that, as is often the case, Leigh asked to play to sharpen his match fitness.

If the latter is true, then Leigh is to be commended for voluntarily going 150 miles , at this time of year, when many pros would have stayed at home and wrapped Xmas presents

  9. I heard Joe Miller at start of SSB.

He said that Ally was in strong negotiating position because the board had made it clear that it wanted him to go.

He put in his notice, Joe.

Another example of Fitba players having brains in their feet.

re griffiths – as well as getting much needed match practice in the development squad he will have the responsibility of being a senior player

  14. Springhill Bhoy on

Was at the Sheffield United v Southampton game on Tuesday night.

Fraser Foster was outstanding,in my opinion, saved at least three shots that had goal written all over them.

Last time I saw Victor was in a league match against

  15. Springhill Bhoy on

Dundee United, he was outstanding. Tuesday night he was substituted, rightly so as he was very poor. Distrbution not as good as Scott Browns, tackling poor. Ran around like a headless chicken.

On last nights form, not good enough for Celtic.

  16. Neganon2

Get real. It’s not Celtic’s job to kill Rangers. They are managing fine by themselves.

It’s Celtic’s job to have a league to play in whatever happens at Ibrox.

    Neganon,

Roughly, how much do you think the 100 quid off adult season books, missing 15000 people paying up to 40 odd buck a season, renegotiated TV deal and corporate package drop all cost Celtic??

  19. So…somebody says..Mike..look at these figures…this mob buy more retail than the geordies…40,000 home support in the 3rd division..cost us coppers to buy in…what sayMike…get me in there….and he does……….fans boycot SD…managers a dud..crowd down to..say..12,000….what does mike do next?….

“If he was that good, how come he’s never played in premiership ?”

    Cowiebhoy,

There are a hutch of players who fit that category who are more than good enough for us.

    Geordie

Apologies for delay in response, sometimes goat :-) tae work

The point I had put was in response to a poster who suggested we need to sign Anya before a Premiership team

At his age, if a premiership team had wanted him, he would be with one ?

I personally don’t see him any better than what we have ( with exception of McGregor :-))

I would even give man of the moment Griffiths a run out in the position we are considering Anya for

    Just my opinion mind

    Hail Hail

Your Comments Pretty much sum up how i feel about the whole thing, Not been posting as much for the past few months as we go round in circles guessing what has happened behind closed doors and what our club has agreed to. The Deal with the Devil it seems.

I won’t be made a fool of, I still support Celtic and always will but some of the fire in my belly has gone as a result of us as a club not defending ourselves in the Media or the public domain. No other Club in the World would put up with the name blackening that takes place every single day in the media by our so called own and impartial media. This has been the straw that broke the camels back for me. The sevco stuff , not a word, The lost Millions not a word, The granting of Licenses with records not a word, our biggest rival dies after years of cheating us and not a word. Come on.

We spend so much time on here laughing at sevco but the joke is on us, They will be back in some form or other with sfa and mib help and our time in the sun will be over with a whimper and not a bang or a comment to be heard.

Peter is a business man first our club is a company first. Money is the be all and end all. They forget what a great celt and great leader said “Without fans who pay at the turnstile, football is nothing. … they honor him with a statue but not his teaching.

Hail Hail Bhoys. 6 more sleeps till the big man is born.
