Miku, Lassad and Ambrose need to stretch legs

842

If you are going to Celtic Park tomorrow you will see a lot of photos like the one above.  Outside the ground 200 bucketeers will be collecting to raise money to send Oscar Knox for treatment for neauroblastoma.

Be prepared.  Bring spare cash with you, have it ready and do your bit for Oscar.

For the second week in a row we take on the team at the bottom of the table; see how that worked out last week.  After an awful August which saw Dundee’s return to the SPL marked with one point and no goals scored from four games, they picked up three points at Tynecastle before losing a lead late in the game against Motherwell last weekend.  Manager Barry Smith will have watched how St Johnstone went about their business six days ago and will believe his team can nick something at Celtic Park.

Neil Lennon (and some of us) will welcome the drop in intensity from Wednesday’s Champions League tie as Celtic are likely to give game time to those who joined the club three weeks ago.  Miku, Lassad and Ambrose all need to stretch their legs.

Big shout again for the guys raising money for Celtic Youth Development through TicPick.  It’s £1 to enter and you win £1000 for predicting 10 results.  I’ve gone for Celtic to beat Dundee, West Ham to beat Sunderland, Aberdeen and Motherwell to draw, Man City to beat Arsenal, St Mirren to beat Killie, Dundee United to beat Hearts, Man Utd to beat Liverpool, Hibs to beat Inverness, Chelsea to beat Stoke and Spurs to beat QPR.

  1. No Bobby Does It Petta on

The majority has already arrived. And good to see an important demographic like the 18 to 24 group with such a high percentage of rational thinkers. It bodes well for the future.

South of Tunis- butt away, good buddy.

I’m not convinced about the Mumfords.

However, the openin’ track of ‘Goodbye Normal Street’ by the Turnpike Troubadours sounds a lot like ‘Matty Groves’, which is never a bad thing.

  3. Somehow Communism morphed into a weird secular religion with its own pantheon of saints and angels.

(If I wanted to reeeaaallly stretch the thought, the name ‘Engels’ means ‘Angels’.)

Whatever…. I found it bizarre. My dad was a member of the communist party in the 30’s, like so many at that time, and he quit after 6 months because he said it was too much like religion….you were expected to take so much on faith.

But even so, he could never get a job in The USA because of his youthful dalliance with Marxism.

People back then were just looking for an alternative to rampant greed. Much like today.

Anyone else notice the difference in the MSM treatment of the cartoon violence directed towards the ole hillbillies and the real violence inflicted on Neil Lennon on numerous occasions over the years?

  5. Just a few thoughts for a Friday.

I posted before the game on Wednesday that I was none too confident about the result against Benfica. This feeling was heightened when I saw Gary was on the bench, no doubt due to a bout of Lennoxtown Syndrome. I was pleasantly surprised to see we were not overcome with nerves/fear/tremblin’ mince. It is important not to lose the first match of the group and we achieved that much.

Is there a feud developing between Jim Spence and Jabba? And why do the BBC edit the repeat to excise their sometimes slightly too sharp exchanges? Is this a sign of the cold blast of reality finally blowing through the studios of BBC Shortbread?

Mmm —– I’m someone who much prefers the idea of ” folk songs” to the sound of ” folk songs ”

Pal recently gifted me the recently reprinted — Penguin Book of English Folk Songs- {beautiful book !} and Bert -The Life and Times of AL Lloyd [Dave Arthur ] A very good biography of an interesting character .

  8. All I can say is, how utterly pathetic SFA.

With all the serious offences eminating from RFCia, so many that you have been completely unable to keep a lid on them, you drag up this banner charge.

If my kids came up with stuff like that I’d be telling them go stop whining and grow up.

    Utterly pathetic.

The game in Scotland is facing the biggest crisis since it’s inception, not because RFCia are gone but principally because it is obvious to EVERYONE that the SFA themselves have finally been exposed for the totally corrupt regime Celtic fans & others have always known them to be.

And in the midst of this crisis, you find time to try to stick one on Celtic, as if this charge is even worth mentioning.

    Did I say, utterly pathetic?

Sorry, I meant to say utterly pathetic!

What a great read “Downfall” is! I was on 15 hours worth of flights yesterday and planned to get some well needed sleep. However the book was too darn riveting and I couldn’t put it down. I am now suffering jet lag! LOL

Hooper on for Miku allowing a standing ovation after his hat-trick.

Watt on for Lassad coz he’ll me knackered after 70 mins.

SOT. Books on British Folk Rock is it? Rob Young’s Electric Eden is a once in a lifetime read . Who knew, for example, that dark haired temptress Toni Arthur of Play School , who stirred such strange longing amongst those of us off ill with a bad chest , attended Naked Witchy Meetings in the 70’s after putting Hamble back through the round window for the afternoon?

  17. His name is Charlie Mulgrew..

JJP-ON – I would be more inclined to start with Watt and then bring on Miku (or Lassad). Starting the 2 new bhoys together might lead to confusion, whereas Watt has a better understanding of the team to date. I’m looking forward to seeing Efe but I would only bring him on once we are 2-0 up with 10 to play or once we are 3-0 up. Just call me Mr cautious with new bhoys!

  19. ROW Z - Let Celtic Flourish by the Cleansing of the 'den! on

I like the tenacity and directness of Mr Watt. He deserves to start………. unlike Mr Forrest who needs to re-visit the ‘contribution to team’ class

I also want Efe from the start. He’s talked a great game so far so I’d give him the chance to show he has the mettle. At home we should always be able to blood a defender.

Charlie Mulgrew is not a centre-half. He fills in there admirably and has indeed been our best player in that position over the last 18 months.

Charlie should be challenging with Jo for the left mid slot because we have excellent centrebacks who don’t need cover.

efe, Rogne and Wilson should now push each othger for the starting berths there.

Izzy I think needs game time. He is the same man and same player. he just needs to move up from 3rd to 5th gear by getting games done. Tomorrow is a game where he can do this and so should play. Give the man a break and he’ll shine again.

Does anyone else every have difficulties remembering who we actually have in our squad for certain areas or is it just me??

Also, has anyone ever seen Rabiu Ibrahim yet? I think he was on the bench recently? I was full of optimism when we signed this kid but yet to see him feature. Although I know he was injured for a time.
