A big Celtic welcome to our new goalkeeper, Logan Bailly, who joined from Belgian side Leuven yesterday, and to Nadir Ciftci, who was confirmed a Celtic player this morning, Ronny’s third and fourth signing of the summer. And it’s only 9 July!
Craig Gordon will be difficult to shift as Celtic’s first choice keeper but Celtic rested him regularly last season, his first back in action after three years recuperating, so Logan will expect a chance to shine and stake his claim.
Nadir Ciftci should be expecting the most difficult preseason of his career. The weeks ahead will be an intense step up from what he was used to at Dundee United, but if he responds he stands an excellent chance of leading the line on the third Champions League qualifying round, should Celtic overcome Icelanders Stjarnan. Next week’s second round game might come too soon.
Ciftci’s every move, kick, pass and, erm…. disputed event, has been watched by Celtic for months. They know as much about the player as it’s possible to know without actually employing him. They will also have had the opportunity to take references from Gary Mackay-Steven and Stuart Armstrong. In short, if we have another Pukki-Balde-Scepovic on our hands, we have more acute problems than simply another striker who didn’t work out.
For this reason, I’m sure Ciftci will deliver what’s expected of him.
Delighted to hear former Fifa executive committee member Chuck Blazer has been banned for life by the game’s governing body. Blazer ‘came to a favourable arrangement’ (I think that’s the appropriate phrase on these occasions) with US prosecutors when convicted of tax evasion, money laundering and bribery.
Unfortunately, Fifa’s structure, which gives the Cayman Islands, the Cook Islands and Comoros more combined voting power than Germany and Spain, encourages corrupt patronage to thrive. The money flushing through tiny countries in order to ‘develop the game’ ensures wealthy people are created, given powerful positions, from where they can be relied upon to vote the ‘right’ way.
Still, at least no one with Blazer’s rap sheet would be allowed to exploit the patronage to hand out blazers in order to wreak havoc on a vulnerable Scottish club (laughs away to himself for weeks).

Well done Tommy Wright. Pathetic.
Brilliant article by James Forrest earlier.Best blogger by a country mile.Keep up the great work James, and keep the spotlight on these deluded halfwits.
Great fun.
Dallas.
I’ve been mailing Chalkie.
His boy has a couple of options from SPFL teams but Q.P are looking for a development fee. So he’s in a bit of limbo at the moment.
Ron, I’ll agree to disagree.
Too much bad feeling and anger over the past few weeks on the blog.
This is a subject neither of us will agree on so no further mention of it from me I’m afraid.
Jimmynotpaul, I hope things go well for the young man.
I believe he has left school now.
Scoring for Scotland under 16’s last year will hopefully help him get a contract at a club.
Don’t worry,it won’t be long until the Tories are giving out ration books instead of benefits for those who require them.
Such is the distaste of the working classes for those in receipt of state subsidy that those living in poverty will be denied the smallest of luxuries and even the chance to handle and manage cash.
Our very own roaring forties are upon us,the class war, distorted and perverted by a successful appeal to the avarice and ignorance within us all.
The western world sure makes me sick at times.

Everyone in society deserves a chance in life. And many in society are denied it by demographics, background and worst of all, geography.
No-one in society is entitled to say f… you,I’m not giving back,I’m keeping it all.
Aberdeen will need to raise their game in the coming season to provide a challenge.
No doubt about it there has been a slowly creeping right wing revolution across the western world recently. Zero hour contracts, welfare cutbacks, tax breaks for mega wealthy. Of course it’s all the fault of those pesky foreign immigrants.
Night all.
Enjoy.
Pheeew Aberdeen through. 0 0
Bobby Murdoch, the tablets I take can have an effect on my liver function. Both my GP and consultant have each told me its inadvisable to take alcohol whilst on this medication.
I’ve been on it for the last seventeen years.
I know I said I don’t drink but I still enjoy a very occasional beer in the house.

Nothing new or original in his article just a rehash of old story’s. Well written granted.
The bottom line is it’s good news to capitalists to revel in lack of opportunity, famine, religious intransigence, these are all signs. That socialism have failed and that freedom is the only option. Freedom to alienate, freedom to discriminate and freedom to believe mine are better than yours.
Somehow the world is going to be brought together by everyone learning to know their place from macjay sort of throws me ?
Goose tripping should have been lost long ago, some poison has too many half lives
I would expect an apology to John Collins from Tommy Wright in the morning. Not. Pathetic, only one team in Scotland rack up the co-efficient points and all they get is slagged off from the rest of the country, including third rate managers from third rate teams.
Blantyre
Thanks
And I presume that tax measure will impact more on those on the lower rungs of the socio economic ladder

The Canadian experience was certainly different … but, in some ways, it is worse because, at least with Thatcher, you knew where she stood … Thatcherism was consciously about ending trade unionism, and dismanting social programs…. here, particularly under our present PM, we have done much the same… but in a sneaky, weasely, but no less mean spirited way,. Our present government is equally driven by the thought of dismantling our social programs and democratic instituions …
And, sadly, I expect that our PM will get re-elected again this fall (although, his main competitor, Justin Trudeau is almost as smug, and not much of an alternative). ….
It is shocking the levels to which the governements the world over are sinking… I can barely even stand to watch the parliamentary broadcasts as the level of discourse and the conduct are so shockingly bad.
Right I’m out of here, wonder if we’ll sign anybody tomorrow
any huns having a wee fly look, you can but dream
Can’t see this Tax Credit budget going well in Brigton, but maybe they believe all thay are told…it is the immigrants fault, mainly the Paddies

Mike in Toronto, is Justin Trudeau a relative of the Canadian prime minister with the same surname in the seventies?
Mrs Trudeau was a bit of a goer if my politically incorrect memory serves me well
Tommy Wright should have told his players that if you translate Alashkert into Armenian, it means Celtic
Sheep will I assume have to play to knock out HJK – runners up to Dinamo Zagreb last year in Croatia, who we did well to come ahead of last year in the groups
Serious risk of all the others being knocked out by 2nd qualifying round – with ICT to take on our other friends Astra
