A big Celtic welcome to our new goalkeeper, Logan Bailly, who joined from Belgian side Leuven yesterday, and to Nadir Ciftci, who was confirmed a Celtic player this morning, Ronny’s third and fourth signing of the summer. And it’s only 9 July!
Craig Gordon will be difficult to shift as Celtic’s first choice keeper but Celtic rested him regularly last season, his first back in action after three years recuperating, so Logan will expect a chance to shine and stake his claim.
Nadir Ciftci should be expecting the most difficult preseason of his career. The weeks ahead will be an intense step up from what he was used to at Dundee United, but if he responds he stands an excellent chance of leading the line on the third Champions League qualifying round, should Celtic overcome Icelanders Stjarnan. Next week’s second round game might come too soon.
Ciftci’s every move, kick, pass and, erm…. disputed event, has been watched by Celtic for months. They know as much about the player as it’s possible to know without actually employing him. They will also have had the opportunity to take references from Gary Mackay-Steven and Stuart Armstrong. In short, if we have another Pukki-Balde-Scepovic on our hands, we have more acute problems than simply another striker who didn’t work out.
For this reason, I’m sure Ciftci will deliver what’s expected of him.
Delighted to hear former Fifa executive committee member Chuck Blazer has been banned for life by the game’s governing body. Blazer ‘came to a favourable arrangement’ (I think that’s the appropriate phrase on these occasions) with US prosecutors when convicted of tax evasion, money laundering and bribery.
Unfortunately, Fifa’s structure, which gives the Cayman Islands, the Cook Islands and Comoros more combined voting power than Germany and Spain, encourages corrupt patronage to thrive. The money flushing through tiny countries in order to ‘develop the game’ ensures wealthy people are created, given powerful positions, from where they can be relied upon to vote the ‘right’ way.
Still, at least no one with Blazer’s rap sheet would be allowed to exploit the patronage to hand out blazers in order to wreak havoc on a vulnerable Scottish club (laughs away to himself for weeks).

as I have said on so many occasions – vote against Labour and you get a right-wing government.
TORIES are dismantling £30 billion, the biggest EVER redistribution of wealth, designed by Gordon Brown and delivered by Labour – one of hundreds of measures by Labour specifically for the poorest.
What can the SNP do about it – ABSOLUTELY SOD ALL.
What have the SNP ever done for the poorest – SOD ALL.
What have the SNP EVER promised/proposed specificly for the poorest in their EIGHT-ODD years – SOD ALL..
After their illiterate ‘thick’ White Paper, failed to con us into separation – what do they come up with – FULL FISCAL STUPIDITY.
How could some people in Scotland were unable to see what would happen if the SNP’s favoured government got in?
They are a one-issue rabble – always were and ALWAYS will be – they don’t give a damn about the working-class.
Dallas … it is his son …. he has been championed by his party because of the name recogntion factor and the fact that he is photogenic …. he is electable…. but, while his father, Pierre Elliot Trudea, was an arrogant p***k, he at least had a vision of Canada that had a heart …
so many on the ‘left’ were so desperate to find anyone who could unseat our PM, that winning (as opposed to helping the country) has become everything…..
his son Justin Trudeau sells well …. but, while has all of his father’s arrogance, he has none of his brains or vision or heart …. he seems like an arrogant spoiled rich kid … but he has a name and a pretty face…. sadly, that seems to be enough to qualify someone to run our country today.
BT…
I know some lazy bassas that need a kick up their a***s, but for everyone of them that ponce of the system, I know a lot more that just want a job that will give them a quality of life.
Removing assistance, benefits, to make it worthwhile to work will have a negative impact and increase the crime rate.
Then again, with the increase on their income/pensions the wealthy will just increase their security measures.
Just let people work for an income that can let them bring up their kids with their heads held high.
Welcome to our new signing Nadir Ciftci.
If you were a left back, I could expand my Shipping Forecast joke and Celtic could field a team of … Bailly, Fisher and….Bight

Since Dallas Dallas is a childhood friend of mine, can I claim his prize for him in Cheltenham in a fortnight? :)

I have told you repeatedly that no tenant in Scotland will be or has been evicted due to bedroom tax
The snp covered the cost of this
I say this as a labour voter but you need to get your facts correct before spouting your anti snp guff
I notice Frank Field is now the chair of the select committee, it was he as a labour minister who set the ball rolling on welfare reform
One of the reasons I had to get out of DWP
I’m currently seeking shelter from a Florida thunderstorm in the shadow of the Disney Cinderella Castle in Disneyworld, catching up on things ‘tic.
It’s an impressive edifice, but not a patch on our Paradise!
Ive also seen a few Hoop clad ghuys suffering in the heat. Evidence of Sevco’s worldwide support is currently lacking.
As regards matters non-fairytale, I hope Paul is right- that he’s a well scouted true for our Champions League hopefuls.
Glad to see some decent competition for the No.1 Jersey.
Hopefully another one or two to come in asap.

Mike in Toronto, thanks for your reply about Justin Trudeau.
Its a sad indictment of our media driven society that a politician’s or anyone’s looks are more worthy than what they actually are as a person.
Thanks for the original version of Money’s too tight to mention, great stuff. I have the LP its from somewhere in our room.
The Valentine Brothers produced or co-wrote a few tracks on the Style Councils’s 1987 LP, the Cost of Loving.
Talking about the unions ..
The old NUS vice president and assistant general secretary of Slab will be on question time tonight ..
The bold Tam Sheppard .. Will rip them a new one!
Well done the sheep ..
The Perth club .. Pffffftt!

Sorry for typos above-

“I would expect an apology to John Collins from Tommy Wright in the morning.”
What is that about??

Delaney’s, you are more than welcome to my prize pint of Guinness when you’re in Cheltenham seeing your aunt. Lol

Dallas … its a great track… like you it seems, I was a big, big Paul Weller fan at the time ….
however, I have to admit (I know it is not hip in some circles), but I quite liked Simply Red’s cover of it (and in fact, liked a bit of Mick Hucknall’s work).
Re Tommy Wright. It`s OK. I Googled it. Fairly run of the mill Scottish journalism.

ST JOHNSTONE boss Tommy Wright has hit back at John Collins after he claimed Celtic are being “held back” in Europe by other Scottish teams.
Tommy Wright says John Collins’ comments are “unfair”
For the third year in row, Celts must negotiate three qualifying rounds to reach the Champions League group stage.
Parkhead No 2 Collins believes Scotland’s poor coefficient ranking penalises his club for their Premiership rivals’ failures in European competition.
But Wright angrily rejected the accusation.
He said: “That’s unfair. The coefficient is the same for everybody. Other teams could say they have been let down by Celtic and Rangers when they’ve been in Europe.
“I look after my own club. I think we have done alright in terms of coefficient.
“We have won away and that gets you more points, and we’ve drawn away with teams that are better.
“We’re a small club and it’s difficult to win games in Europe.
“If you are looking for people to help you, our season continued to May 24 and our players were back within three weeks.
“I don’t think there is enough done in terms of working with the clubs.”
For Mike in Toronto and everyone else, Newfie Irishmen,

some people just don’t take defeat easily, Alfies twin really does like to spoil everyone’s night
Clogher … hadn’t heard them in years! I remember when we first moved here, every Saturday there was a scottish radio program on at lunch time … my dad loved his music… and then just after lunch, they would read out the football scores .. we had to be quiet, or he’d miss the Celtic score, and would go mental!
and then at dinner time, the Irish Rovers had a variety show on the TV (only 3 channels at the time, or something like that) … we would watch Walt Disney, and then mum and dad would watch the Irish Rovers….
great memories! Thanks for that!

Naw. Swindon prices only. Sorry
So, what is our strongest line up for important Home games?
Gordon
Lustig/Janko; Boyata/Mulgrew van Djik Izaguirre ;
…………………Brown
Forrest Biton Johansen Armstrong (GMS?)
Ciftci/Griffiths.
I always miss one . Who is it this time? !!

Like it or not the SNP aren’t to blame. Labour are. We didn’t give people a reason to vote for us.

It seems to me Frank Field has been on that Committee forever. There with Thatcher, Major, Blair, Brown and Cameron. A complete and utter waste of space.

I think your auto-correct must’ve messed up there because I assume you didn’t mean to include Mulgrew.
Sheik … you are more gracious than I … I was hoping for all the scottish teams to do well, if only to help the co-efficient, but, after TW’s comments, there is a bit of me that is happy to see him crash and burn ….
We’re gonna struggle

Glad you liked that.

There is a lot of confusion over the Fenian Invasion of Canada. Can you put us right?
Hope to see you before Easter 2016.

Seen a few people say Janko over Lustig
Not for me – if ML is fit he should start every time, especially as one of the most senior and experienced members of the team
He, Broony, Gordon and Commons going to be vital for qualifiers

Big Mik is the best player in our squad.
He needs a run in the team and he will be world class.
I pray for an injury free Mik Lustig.
some fella on KDS is saying his son knows VVD, and has been told he is going to Wales tomorow for talks …
if so, Janko at right back, and ML in at centre beside boyata?
Dexter
Although I don`t say it with great confidence, I think Charlie could be quite an impressive central defender. He is a good footballer but too slow , relatively, for left back or left mid-field in a dynamic, fast breaking side. I don`t think he would let us down at CH but, hopefully, Boyata is as good as Denayer and we won`t need to rest my theory.

When ML first arrived I wouldn’t have beleived it, but after a very impressive CL season 2012/13 he’s been immense in Europe
His double v Motherwell this year was stunning
Fingers crossed he stays fit
