A big Celtic welcome to our new goalkeeper, Logan Bailly, who joined from Belgian side Leuven yesterday, and to Nadir Ciftci, who was confirmed a Celtic player this morning, Ronny’s third and fourth signing of the summer. And it’s only 9 July!
Craig Gordon will be difficult to shift as Celtic’s first choice keeper but Celtic rested him regularly last season, his first back in action after three years recuperating, so Logan will expect a chance to shine and stake his claim.
Nadir Ciftci should be expecting the most difficult preseason of his career. The weeks ahead will be an intense step up from what he was used to at Dundee United, but if he responds he stands an excellent chance of leading the line on the third Champions League qualifying round, should Celtic overcome Icelanders Stjarnan. Next week’s second round game might come too soon.
Ciftci’s every move, kick, pass and, erm…. disputed event, has been watched by Celtic for months. They know as much about the player as it’s possible to know without actually employing him. They will also have had the opportunity to take references from Gary Mackay-Steven and Stuart Armstrong. In short, if we have another Pukki-Balde-Scepovic on our hands, we have more acute problems than simply another striker who didn’t work out.
For this reason, I’m sure Ciftci will deliver what’s expected of him.
Delighted to hear former Fifa executive committee member Chuck Blazer has been banned for life by the game’s governing body. Blazer ‘came to a favourable arrangement’ (I think that’s the appropriate phrase on these occasions) with US prosecutors when convicted of tax evasion, money laundering and bribery.
Unfortunately, Fifa’s structure, which gives the Cayman Islands, the Cook Islands and Comoros more combined voting power than Germany and Spain, encourages corrupt patronage to thrive. The money flushing through tiny countries in order to ‘develop the game’ ensures wealthy people are created, given powerful positions, from where they can be relied upon to vote the ‘right’ way.
Still, at least no one with Blazer’s rap sheet would be allowed to exploit the patronage to hand out blazers in order to wreak havoc on a vulnerable Scottish club (laughs away to himself for weeks).

Thanks for posting the Gregory Porter track. Kind of avoided him after Jamie Cullum bigged him up three or four years ago on Radio 2 but have to admit the wee fellow might have been right about him!

Good Evening!
My latest piece is about the laughable difference in the way that the BBC discusses new football clubs. If anyone would like to have a look, it can be found here…

Enjoy the rest of the evening.
Hope all this forward planning is evident in our readiness for the c/l qualifiers. However, we don’t have a divine right to participate in the group stages. It will take a lot longer for RD to truly put his stamp on the team but he is doing all right, right now!!! There are still a lot of players on the books that don’t quite fit the RD system and their salaries slow the rate of change
cant remember the last time celtic had so many young bhoys loaned out to other clubs its good to see, gives them first team football and lets us know how the cope with the challenge. Maybe the goal of winning everything at every age level is being replaced for the better.

I’ve spent a few hours going over how the budget effects the poor and they have trumped their bedroom tax by introducing the child tax, like the Chinese the people of this UK need to stop having children because after you have 2 the rest don’t exist
Being the 4th child I find that my 30years ni contact and tax should be refunded and my pension contributions also

Thank you for your “shark bite avoidance” advice. :o)
Knew that question was like an open goal to some.
Having a chat this morning with daughter in law and mother of four grand children that are coming to the beach next week with us.
Me “The only effective safety measure is to stay out of the water.”
Her – Big sigh, eye roll and walking away.
Thought I’d tag the children instead of the sharks and do a head count every 30 minutes.
Last two have been in knee deep water on the same beach we will be using.

Dunno if Mike Conroy was from PG but he signed from PG Juniors.
On the Monday.
Played on Saturday. Man of the Match for us but gubbed 4-1 by Hibs. I think that was the one where Tom McAdam got a boot in the baws from the keeper.
I liked MC when he was with us. Gave his all. A particular memory being a cracker of an elbow to a fouling Hun.
Cyberpint-cheap at the moment-if you can tell me which bluenose had a bust nose.
RWE,
Enjoy Topsail. Hope you have great time :<)

Having a discussion between fag breaks wi a heartless Tory bassa at the moment on that subject.
I’ve given him the IFS report to read. He will still tell me it was a great budget in a minute.
Knobend and the place is full of them.
Heartless bassa and the place is full of them too.

What?
Mike Conroy was from the Port. Nice guy, who I met once. Fulton lived up to his Baggio label in Paddy Bonnar’s testimonial as I recall. He was a talented player..great passer. A Port punter for a while also.

I went out with a Port girl in 1990 who said they all fancied Stevie Fulton at school. My ego dropped 100 notches after that………

As long as you weren’t punching above your weight.
RWE … trust that you know it was all in fun….. although, there was some point to my post … in America, you have more chance of being killed by a cow or a car .. than a shark …. so, the chance of you having any problem is so remote …. I’m sure you will have a great time!

SFA Must Make an Example of Volatile Ciftci:
https://raillydecord.wordpress.com/2015/07/09/33/
Now that Ciftci is a Celtic player the SMSM onslaught will gain momentum until he gets an extended ban, the SFA need no encouragement to deliver.
Good luck & best wishes to Nadir and all the new Bhoys.

You got me there no sure, I think MC opened a shop in the Port “port sport” I was front of the queue waiting for autographs, about 6 first team players made an appearance.
Just after we beat Madrid 2-0 at Celtic Park, all the Bhoys signed the programme from that game except 1 who refused.

Had one of the old East European governments came out with that piece of social engineering, there would have been a Panorama special about it.

Lovely girl but never showed emotion. Tough as nails but hiding a soft centre(nurse). Great time we had but finished after she saw my first post uni pay packet. Not the catch she thought I was!

Do you want the £1.99 pint bottle of Magners or the £1.50 pint of Guinness?
Ziggydoc, I used to record the highlights of all our games in the late eighties – early nineties.
I last watched them about five years ago.
Stevie Fulton assists in making goals in a fair number of games with some great, passes, corners and free kicks.
I remember seeing his dad, Norrie, at a number of our games.
Norrie, when he played, would not have fitted in well to Ronny’s fitness regime.
I was very impressed with Ciftci’s interview…young lad spoke very well
One can only hope he grows up , cuts out the nonsense and concentrates on his game
Good luck
