  1. 3 points the hard way, and we are going to have to do that a lot domesticly this season, that performance from the mason today just proved it that the fix is in.

  2. Jude, his efforts will be appreciated, he just couldn’t quite get the result, but not through any lack of effort on his part.

Couldnae agree more. Just as well Motherwell were garbage, because he’d have been quick enough to give a penalty in our area.

A good 3 points, nae help fae the officials,I hope RD gives

it plenty in the after match interviews, let the cheating

off wae this shite………away tae watch the horses, catch up

    laters.

  7. Terrific football first half, not so much the second, but Well put in a lot of effort in the second.Again, everything pales when you consider both penalty claims. It changes the whole game.Shocking decisions, but to be expected from that cheating bassa.

Broony superb. As was Izzy first half.Defence looked sound.Blackett played very well.Boyata progressing great with games.

Top of the league with a load of injuries, will do for me.

I’ve been on the road for a few weeks without working laptop so no posting after making decision to join CQN community after lurking from Day 1 of the site. I’m very pleased with 3 points. A lot of players have travelled far and wide for mostly international disappointments, coming back tired and carrying knocks. I thought that players stepped up in responsibility to get the result today above anything else. Referee made the match result look tight, it was never in doubt.

The consistent nagging worry is that we regularly play a great first half and fall away badly in the second. Today was not so dramatic as other matches, mainly because Motherwell didn’t have much ambition, but still we tailed off and resorted to knocking it long.

I thought Cifti played very well. He combines, makes front post runs, brings other players in and got a good strikers goal. I still contrast that with Griffiths who only plays for himself.

And nothing to do with the match. Big interview with Rod Stewart on Dutch TV last night and conversation turned to getting older and eventually dying. Rod’ s comment, ‘Dream is to go at the end of the match where Celtic beat Bayern in the Champions League final’. Wha’s like him as ambassador for the club?

    Some lovely intricate passing

Agreed. Some don’t see it like that.

  10. Scrappy second half but great 3 points.

We often drop points before big euro games so all the more pleasing.

  11. Delighted with the victory that puts us top of the league.

    Always difficult after international break.

Time for Celtic to complain about Alan Muir, always better to do it after a victory, both penalties easy decisions to give and virtually impossible to miss. Quite simply, in my opinion, he is a cheat.

  12. Celtic go top despite the ‘unlevel playing field ‘ that prevented them from winning the game by a the margin our embarrassing superiority deserved. Two denied stone wallers in one game, from a man with serious previous, wasn’t enough to allow Nadir Ciftci’s first half strike to put Celtic back on top.

The game died a proverbial death in the second half and Mark McGhee has got some job on his hands to lift Motherwell to the giddy heights of middle SPL.

Celtic’s back four even with the ever absent wing wizard Izzaguire were never troubled , Blackett and Boyata marshalled by Ambrose strolled it. Emilio caused more bother at the other end hitting Celtic fans in the stand with his crosses. Tom Rogic toiled, but has some way to go before he could dislodge a fully fit Stefan Johansen on a permanent basis.

Bitton was as usual a class act, and Scott Brown did the messy business to win the middle. Stuart Armstrong played himself quietly back in, but with so many games coming up, he’ll need to step it up a bit with the big bhoys.

Good shift from Ciftci, scoring his second goal and quite funny for the mentalists that have logged on to boo him since July.

    M.O.M Bitton

  13. Some good football from us in the first half but we do not trouble the opposition goalkeeper nearly enough. At times in the first half we were trying to walk the ball in.

Motherwell were poor throughout and Mark McGhee’s selection helped us dominate the midfield,

The referee was our only danger and he intervened getting all the big decisions wrong. Two penalties denied and he seemed to provide Motherwell with a license to kick. It was then set up for a Motherwell equaliser but they were so poor they couldn’t make the ‘extra man’ count.

More needed from some players but it’s a win and a clean sheet but it should have been a walk over. Shoot Celts!

  14. Wearisome look about us late in the game.

SA obviously tired and his replacement GMS just didn’t get himself into game.

I said earlier, probably more than once, that Scott Brown was imperious in mid field.

Tom Rogic had a poor day and Bitton just strolled through the game until his injury.

Good to see Ciftci score his opportunist goal.

    Can I say

    GO NADS

    on here again?

  15. Guy on BT just said today’s ref was the official behind goal for semi final handball incident last year. Maybe apron not cancelled.

Out golfing this morning so only caught last bit of game on BT… Holy moly.. I really try to avoid the Celtic paranoia stuff… But today’s referee makes that impossible. I’m definitely paranoid because I’ve never seen such a blatant hand ball ignored in all my 48 years. The foul on Brown wasn’t much better. Is this what we’ve got left for the rest of the season ? Referees v Celtic. We need to aim for 3 goals per game imo. Shocking and disgusting . I hope the club make an enormous deal out of this and SFA sanction today’s referee. That was blatant bias.

  17. Well, those penaltiy claims were so obvious that BT Sport, including Craigan, haven’t even tried to defend Muir. They also mentioned that it was him who was at the post in the Scottish Cup Semi-final when we were denied that stonewaller. One wonders if he will be held to account for his wee aberrations where Celtic are concerned. Won’t hold my breath.

Good to hear our captain and WGS praising one another. As WGS said, Motherwell took heart from the MIB’s cheating (he didn’t put it quite like that). Didn’t help them.

Good 3 points and we’re top of the league.

  18. Son of the helm

Are you ………. a scoddish referee???

  19. Celtic should ask for an explanation from the league as to why referee chose to disregard the laws of the game.

There are many reasons for falling attendances but the blatant cheating going unchallenged by the Celtic hierarchy is contributing.

If the tribute act survives to be promoted next season then the cheating will be ramped up to such an extent that it won’t even resemble a sport.

    Scotland’s not so secret shame.

  20. Phyllis Dietrichson on

It’s not good for the blood pressure to see a refereeing performance like that. I don’t usually buy into the “all Scottish referees are against us” line, but that was the most bigotted refereeing performance since RH Davidson, and believe me, anyone under 50 who is reading this, that’s a big comparison to make.

Celtic must challenge SFA on today’s decisions. Let’s not leave it until it costs us points. Moral high ground if we question when we still recorded a win.

It puts a marker down if nothing else.

  22. Gerryfaethebrig on

Some really nice football at times today, Boyata is growing into the jersey, Broony is Broony, heard Gordon Strachan before the game going on about football scientists and the rest, says some try and tell Scott when he is injured, Broony shrugs his shoulders and says he is fit, a fantastic Celtic captain in the making, plus his football ability is sometimes overlooked, another notch for big Nadir, confidence and scoring goals is all you need up front
