Moussa’s Target Practice Torags, slump must end soon

842

You and I will miss our football this weekend but the winter break came at an excellent time for Celtic. They get to rest after an arduous nine game December on the back of handing Newco a lesson on their own pitch. Having to sit for three weeks, unable to get a defeat out your system, would have been torture.

Celtic have already played 36 competitive games this season (only one against lower league opposition). That’s close to a full league programme concertinaed into a little over five months. Add in the fact that almost the entire squad is involved in some form of international football and you realise the players have been on match duty twice a week since preseason.

This is exceptional and not conducive to delivering top performances. By comparison, Aberdeen have played 30 games (two against lower league teams) and Newco have played 28 (five against lower league sides). That’s eight and 10 times we’ve played two challenging games a week more than our direct opponents – neither of whom are particularly burdened by international football.

The second half of the season will be more balanced. We only have three midweek games scheduled, including our game in hand – so you can be reasonably confident our “slump” will end soon………..

We all remember the days when someone talking about putting in a £20m offer for a Celtic player would be held in a locked room until a deal was signed. We’ve been on a long road since, but the financial stability we’ve earned through many tough years affords us the ability to keep players who have several years to run on their contracts.

As for Moussa, I hear if we can arrange for him to play against the Target Practice Torags every week, he’d extend his contract until 2027.

Really enjoying the dissonance in some places over the anticipated approval of Kouassi Eboue’s work permit. Play by the rules, work inside areas you are allowed to and pay your dues. It’s not difficult.

By now you should be aware of The Road to Lisbon project. 28 cyclists will set off from Celtic Park on 11 May, arriving in Lisbon in time for the 50th anniversary of the Lions’ triumph. It is an immense project which is expected to raise tens of thousands for Celtic FC Foundation, Solving Kids Cancer and Children in Crossfire.

An opportunity exists for corporate sponsorship of the project. If you would like more information, look here, or email, theroadtolisbonmay2017@gmail.com

Aye changed days from when the Villa won the league in 81 and only used 14 players all season then went on to win European Cup in 82 , Des Bremner was a star in that team !

    I’ve wondered about that too.

I think it comes from 100 years of representing the establishment, a century of entitlement irrespective of sporting quality, or fairness. Their identity is formed entirely from hatred, and from negatives; ours springs from positives.

‘We Are The People’ means exactly what is says. ‘We Wear The Jackboots’ might be more accurate.

This is why I never wanted Celtic to share a field with them again, ever.

Cherish every moment it’s quite handy having one of those catholic families we could all take a day off work with MotherGFTB had to go to the Beatsons, but when the carers came into her house she was wanting to make them a cup of tea or a sandwich BUT more importantly a different face kept her going

Sorry I never got back to you – just been catching up now.

I was at St Ninian’s 65 to 71, the era of Miss O’Reilly and her terrifying belt, the nice Mr McGrath, the interesting Miss Sheerin, even though you were so young you didn’t really understand why she was interesting you so much, and the ghostly, stern and translucent Mrs Gray.

Daphne Du Maurier would have got at least 3 books out of St Ninian’s in Knightswood, no bother.

  13. My experience of the NHS staff is that from cleaners to consultants, there is just not enough of them to cope with demand. I have never met a NHS front line worker, that is one in uniform or with a stethoscope round their neck , who is not knocking their pan in.

    Best of to you Ma.

Been reading about the state of the NHS, been 20 odd years since I had any contact with the NHS and 10 since we had any with the Irish health service, but they are very similar, when we came here we were well surprised how efficient they are, they approach health in a totally different way than they do in britland and Ireland.

A & E for example is an A & E, if you are not an emergency you wait, it’s as simple as that.

As for diagnosis, very different, everything is done by blood testing here, and I mean everything, they take your blood one day and you get the results the next again day, it’s highly efficient and it saves a fortune in the long run as they tend to diagnose properly in the first place, it can and does go wrong obviously but imo it’s far far better than we ever had to go through in britalnd and Ireland.

  21. Both my parents in recently had surgical procedures performed by the NHS at Ayr Hospital.

A waiting period right enough for both, but the professionalism, attitudes and overall conduct of the hospital staff was outstanding. Treatment and skill levels 10/10 too.
