Mouyokolo and the Perrier-Doumbe path to immortality

768

Steven Mouyokolo’s last two permanent contracts were for clubs playing Premier League football in England but after joining Hull City as a 22-year-old and making 21 appearances in their relegation season, his move to Wolves bombed amid a multitude of injuries.  The player has made four appearances for Wolves and four for Sochaux in the last three years.

He no longer has the profile which would be considered in the English Premier League; which is why he’s pitched up in Scotland.  If his knee passes a medical this week, he’ll become the latest 6’3” defender on the Celtic books, competition for Kelvin, Virgil, Charlie, Efe and the rest.

Competition is good but Steven’s chances of edging out the competition to become a first team regular must be considered slight with his injury record, whether he passes the medical or not.  It’s more likely he’ll follow the path of Jean-Joel Perrier-Doumbe, although Champions League football and a Cup Final winner is not a bad return.

  1. Sir Paul

What dae Ah Think o’ .. STEMO?

Ah think he is a Good Yin.

Did You notice his almost.. “Velvet” touch?

    No?

    Well , Ah did.

That is Whit draws me tae him… His Ability tae NO.. Hoof the Ba’ Up the Park!

He prefers ,instead, tae.. pick oot a Colleague, with a well Placed Pass.

And This is Maist unusual..especially,coming frum a Lad who has not bin short-changed ,by Mother Nature. in the Physicality dept.

He sure has A very delicate touch.

For years, oan here, Ah hiv bin moaning aboot the habit of Most Celtic Defenders

(The Exception being..Kelvin Wilson.) who, after winning the Ball from the Opposition.. are

wont tae.. Immediately, Cancel oot.. that Hard Won Possession..

    by.. Ye Guessed It!

By the Blootering the Ball . AIMLESSLY..up the Park.. where it is thankfully

Gobbled up by one of the opposition’s Defenders..

And once more.. Our defence is Under Seige.

This .” Gien away the Ba’.. Needlessly”.. Has bin a Major Gripe of Mine. over the Years.

By the way.. Although, over-all.. Our Defense is ,indeedly, Getting Better, but… it still has that Bedeviling Propensity. tae “Gie the Ba’ Away.. Needlessly”.

Anyway.. it does not appear that Stemo, has this aggravating proclivity.

    Which… is a Big Plus.

Ah Like the Guy.. He is a Likely Lad.

It wid no be a terrible mistake, if Neil.. gives him a Contract.

    Oan last night’s Showing..

Ah liked the Contributions of :

Liam Henderson A Very Likely Lad, indeed!

Dylan McGeough He is once more Back tae his Best.

Pauly George.. This is The New.. Kid Dynamite!

Kayal… He was impressive. Hope, he remains Injury free.

Darrel Fisher He did Nothing wrong.

    Star Man?

Fraser Forster. Saved oor Blushes. several Times. Whita Goalie!

As you know.. the main purpose of these Friendlies is tae Hasten the Return of Physical Fitness and

and tae Regain, mair than a wee Tate of Match Sharpness.

Yesterday’s game, undoubtedly, went PART of the Way toward achieving this.

Howevahh. There is Still Lotsa Room for Improvement.

And… Time is of the Essence.

    Kojo

    Still.. Laughin’

Was at lovely funeral mass for Jim Harold in St Aloysius Chapelhall this morning. Jim was down syndrome but a great character and a great Celtic fan. Never saw so many green & white floral tributes. Im sure Jim will be keeping Jinky Bobby and Jock on their toes. Jim & I used to sing this song together in the Caratis club in Airdrie. Rangers manager Ally McCoist will take a look at defender Bilel Mohsni when the Third Division winners travel to the Highlands.

The 25-year-old was released by Southend United, after making 80 appearances for them in the last three years.

Mohsni is the latest centre-back to be linked to Rangers with Christophe Berra and Boris Pandza also catching the club’s attention.

McCoist has already signed seven players this summer as he prepares for the challenges of Division Two.

Mohsni said: “The moment I was given a tour of the new team bus I knew I wanted to be here.

“Hopefully we can get a deal done as soon as possible. I can’t wait to use that wi-fi on the way to the Highlands.”

IMO, Dungcaster was easily the more preferable of the two. I thought in his interview on SSB last season, he came across as a generally genuine guy, and I felt that he answered everything put to him very convincingly!

TBB Arcachon is now very tasteful and fashionable — maybe they are waiting for your return? One disappointment so far has been the lack of a good shoe shop! They are all very sedate and a trifle boring in their wares — need to do something about that.

  15. Good news Weefrathe, I’m delighted for you. My wife was through the mill with tests today as well and again the news was good so to celebrate I bought myself a new Taylormade Driver, can’t wait for the morra to try it out. The lady in question is sitting opposite me resting whilst the last of the anesthetic is wearing off, I told her what I posted and she has promised to kill me when she is feeling better.

  16. The signing of Steven Mouyokolo could prove to be a VERY astute piece of business if the lad has indeed put all his injuries woes behind him. Wolves saw fit to pay £2,500,000 for his services when they got him from Hull City. They must have thought summat about him to pay that sort of money!

Work in progress no doubt but we are getting good at this….

    =====================

That ability, Kojo, is one of the most underestimated in the game of football – the bravery and composure required of a defender to create from the back, from out of pressure situations and turn a match.

Beckenbauer was unsurpassed when it came to a cool head and the wherewithall to step out of defence with the ball comfortably at his feet.

It takes a great deal of faith in one’s own ability and skill level to consistently do so, and to know when the time is right – ‘better oot the park than in the net’ is the adage there.

It’s a fine line between admiration and denegration. Kelvin Wilson, I agree, has proved himself capable with his European performances, turning the opinions of many, myself included; beofr elast season’s Euro romp he was edging towards ‘bombscare’ notoriety.

I’d hope the basic tenent of the Celtic coaching regime would be to encourage building from the back at all times, so these new signings – young players with promise – get that grounding from the moment they set foot on a training pitch.
