Mulgrew’s magnificent delivery

1279

I watched Scotland play a more accomplished Wales last night.  No one in blue played particularly well but when Charlie Mulgrew prepared to take a corner from the right in first half stoppage time we knew Wales were in danger.

The pace, low trajectory and movement Charlie gets on the ball negates the natural advantage the defending team has.  The goal had little to do with the young lad who got on the end of the cross, just as Celtic’s remarkable success from corners has little to do with their ability to attack the ball.

The Wee Oscar 4 Life team have asked me to pass on this message:

Wee Oscar 4 Life are delighted to be offering you the chance to win a fantastic and very unique auction prize.

We have been donated a very special bottle of 8 year old Bowmore, which has come straight from the cask. The Whisky is 59.4%, unlike a normal malt whisky which is cut to 40% proof.

The whisky was distilled on 13 March 2001, and bottled on 26 June 2009.  It has been donated by a very kind CQNer. However, not content with already donating 3 bottles from his share of the cask to raise funds for Wee Oscar , we now have his prized possession:

Bottle no 1 of 251.  A very special prize in aid of a very special wee bhoy.

  1. WO4L – Wow, what another fantastic effort and Result.

Phyllis D @21.28. would that be QC Mungo Bovey ? never new his connection with SNP, but could tell a story about Nicola Sturgeon, and her losing her first job as a lawyer, after having taken advice from a QC Mungo Bovey.

Celtic Mac – missed this on Dennis Canavan, still a very regular attendee at either Our Lady’s of St Ninians – Bannockburn, or Sacred Heart – Cowie.

Hats off to Ernie and FFM ,.making them explain their actions on here ,make them hang their dirty laundry …

Ernie who has admitted his smoking gun was in fact a replica (aka he got it badly wrong) and FFM who basically hasn’t read 1/2 of what I’ve written but attempted to critique me on his opinion on what I might have written if he’d been writing it for me?

    Dirty laundry right enough…

Or maybe you could accept that other Celtic fans want to debate different stuff from you? No one is telling you what you can or can’t post, so kindly return the courtesy.

Thank you for that sir … and for something else. A tremendous response to Fortune Favours Mibbie.

I have concerns about the SNP. But I’m voting independence anyway. Because I have greater concerns about the next Tory government, greater concerns about the remnants of New Labour (the disgusting human being Liam Byrne foremost amongst them), and I am not afraid that the muppets who could not save a football club are somehow going to take over a country.

I think we’re smarter than these people. I think we’re better organised. I think we would run the table, and I always have.

The British state oppresses us. I firmly believe it. One way or another in 2015 we will not get what we vote for. If you vote Labour and they win, you’ll get a pale imitation if even that. You’ll get people like Byrne and Murphy, a pseudo Tory party in red … God help you and forgive you if you vote Lib Dem or Tory and get your wish …

Scotland never gets the government it wants, or the one it deserves. In the two and a half party system ruled from London we never will. Satisfying Middle England’s children will ALWAYS be more important to these people than giving Scotland what it needs, far less what it wants.

I don’t fear change. I fear nothing changing more.

Snake Pliskin, I heard you was dead. My information differs from yours. No source as I heard it so long ago. I remember hearing that every socialist govt was inflicted on England by Scotland and Wales until Tony Blair. I find it hard to imagine the election that produced the Lib Lab pact wasn’t swayed by the Celtic nations. In fact an independent England wouldn’t have a coalition today but an unfetterd Tory govt.

  6. If we dont replace the present government with one that has social justice/socialism at its heart it makes no difference if its a government in London or Edinburgh.

Im paraphrasing but the sentiment is the same.

    Gie me peace!

I owe you no apology. Your reply to me yesterday implied I was a bigot:

    You @ 11:20:

“How do you know what I’m doing? Here’s a tip – if you don’t have a crystal ball or an insideaheadascope, don’t assume that because you think I’m doing nothing that’s actually what I’m doing.

Equally, I abhor bigotry dressed in green as much as bigotry dressed in blue.

    /p”

I don’t particularly take the accusation seriously, and I don’t expect you meant it seriously, but you did say it. Jinkyredstar reference the word “fearty”- again, it’s not a serious issue. The serious issue is the debate we’re involved in, which despite your grandstanding over the last couple of days, you’ve been losing dramatically with every post you make, where you ignore relevant points, argue black is white continuously, claim superior knowledge where it seems you have little awareness…I could go on.

EL has shrugged you off like an annoying fly over the last couple of days, yet you have the cheek to claim superiority and label him as akin FF bigot. That did make me laugh :))

I take it you looked at the quote posted earlier by some indepedence gnat, to which EL then posted the link to the original book, and its context, which not only solidified EL’s position, but also had a ton of references on the issue underneath and on the next page?

Like that said poster, you select sentences from posters on this debate, place them in bold html and then offer your responses without the surrounding context. Whether or not it’s deliberate, amigo, it clearly doesn’t work. You should re-think your position, no? ;)

  9. Landry N’Guemo – not for me,

If I imply that I’m going to buy your book (which I might well do), will you compliment me on my response to P8ddy? :))

How much is it ? Need to assess if it’s a worthy exchange :))

  11. James Forrest,

Congratulations on your book, I am off to turkey on holiday tomorrow and will add it to my reading list, hope I stay sober enough to read it mind you :-))

Ha, I was think of posting that last night as well, no for the musical ability mind you.

Saw them in Edinburgh mid 70s, they were brutal.

Best band I ever saw live, and I can say this with my hand on my heart was ABBA, the production was superb, I worked for a while in a recording studio in Edinburgh, and we hired out sound systems, we had to set them up, got to see many bands in and around central scotland.

I’m likewise. I trust the SNP most from the three main parties, but that’s not a glowing recomendation. What’s also forgotten is Tony Blair’s assualt on our civil liberties. Criminal Justice and Public Order Act, section 5 is a carte blanche on our right to free speech, for example…

    http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/blair-laid-bare-the-article-that-may-get-you-arrested-405951.html

is an excellent article outlining Blairs dictatoriall streak. And i totally agree with regard to Minty and his cohorts. :)

I think we’re smarter than these people. I think we’re better organised. I think we would run the table, and I always have.

I agree – it’s also somthing that Noam Chomsky touches on, that *we* should be the brains of the operation. Politicians are simply public servants and it’s high time we held them to that expectation, rather than the expectation they will take the hard decisions because their smarter, or more educated, or more experienced than us.

Shakespeare wrote – “In our time, the destiny of man presents itself in political terms” We can choose to be free, to have a say in our future, to demand a place at the table or we can site back and watch our oblivion….

Again, I totally agree. We are moving more toward a two class society, where the wealthy will live in gated communities and the poor will live in slums – the Tory workfare scheme should be a shot across our bows. And for anyone that thinks Labour would do better – look no further than Blair’s laws removing core rights – the right to a Jury trial, the dismissal of double jeopardy, Blairs new deal work “experience” schemes… the list is endless..

I don’t fear change. I fear nothing changing more.

More sucinctly put than anything I could muster. And exactly right… :)

The truth is, I love the debate. The fact the debate is even being HAD on this site actually supports my view … we are smarter than the Other Lot. We are capable of analysing this, making a rational decision and we are passionate about what we believe.

I am disappointed only in those who think this country would become a bastion of anti-Catholic hate. My disappointment arises because it seems to suggest that this would happen almost as a matter of course.

You think we’d permit that? You think we’d let it happen? I believe, in fact I know, that the motivation is there on the side of our enemies … but there’s no chance in Hell they would get what they want. We would not allow it.

I may have concerns about the economic aspects, although the coalition of the cutters doesn’t give me any faith that things will necessarily be better as long as we’re in thrall to the City of London … but I have none about a bigots takeover which forces many of us to renounce our religions or pack our bags.

Some say those of us who believe Scotland will be a socialist paradise would be in for a shock. Only if we expect that, and I don’t. But I do expect a more progressive politics. I do think it would free the Scottish element of the Labour Party – and I don’t mean the Lamont/Murphy/Darling axis – to be what it wants to be … and that will return the party to power in Scotland, with the right focus and the right objectives.

One last thing. Every Yes vote strengthens the demand for greater powers for this parliament should the No’s have their day. That is reason enough for some of you to consider your doubts more carefully. If we don’t get the country we deserve through independence, at the very least we should get enough power to make the Parliament in London the irrelevancy it regards us.
