Mulgrew’s magnificent delivery

1279

I watched Scotland play a more accomplished Wales last night.  No one in blue played particularly well but when Charlie Mulgrew prepared to take a corner from the right in first half stoppage time we knew Wales were in danger.

The pace, low trajectory and movement Charlie gets on the ball negates the natural advantage the defending team has.  The goal had little to do with the young lad who got on the end of the cross, just as Celtic’s remarkable success from corners has little to do with their ability to attack the ball.

The Wee Oscar 4 Life team have asked me to pass on this message:

Wee Oscar 4 Life are delighted to be offering you the chance to win a fantastic and very unique auction prize.

We have been donated a very special bottle of 8 year old Bowmore, which has come straight from the cask. The Whisky is 59.4%, unlike a normal malt whisky which is cut to 40% proof.

The whisky was distilled on 13 March 2001, and bottled on 26 June 2009.  It has been donated by a very kind CQNer. However, not content with already donating 3 bottles from his share of the cask to raise funds for Wee Oscar , we now have his prized possession:

Bottle no 1 of 251.  A very special prize in aid of a very special wee bhoy.

  1. I have read some of the debate on this site quith quiet amazement.

James Forrest – really – when you are in a small minority in a country with an awful record of anit catholicism exactly what power do you believe we will have?

P8ddy – I am surprised at what I view as naivity on your part.

Havent you been paying attention – new laws passed to outlaw catholicism and supporting celtic. Police acting in the most overt political manner since the thatcher years, govt ignorning any dissenting voices (and indeed discrediting them (just wait till the news about where the leaks around scottish cardinal behaviour came from).

And you want independence – independence from what? common sense? From a limiting factor of scottish sectarianism?

    Please enlighten me?

Good post amigo. If you look further out of the football situation and into Minty’s £1000M loans from BOS, and relate it to Minty’s land deals with which the SNP played a none too insignificant role, it gets even more disturbing. His recent consilidation of the rozzers and placing Strathy’s complicit finest at the helm, is not the only issue.

  4. Shave his belly with a rusty razor,

Or reprimand him with a non lethal taser.

As the Police State is fully implemented,

Spare a thought for those who constantly dissented.

There can be no real doubts now at all,

The general public has dropped the ball.

Dancing on ice and the manufactured Muslim danger.

Is it fiction or fact or something a lot stranger?

  5. Celtic2the4

    Great work :)

I take from that a reference to a sinister background motivation of divide and conquer. It happened, Salmond predicted it, but he failed to do the right thing. Just my possibly radical opinion.

  6. James Forrest is Neil Lennon! We are ALL Neil Lennon! on

    Doc is Neil Lennon:

100% right mate. It will not matter whether it’s London or Edinburgh that runs the show … if social justice is not at the heart of the agenda, it won’t matter at all.

    Neganon:

You think the majority of people in this country are bigots? I don’t. The number is small, a smaller number than the people you think they would oppress.

As to the SNP passing laws “outlawing Catholicism” … I must have missed THOSE!

  7. James Forrest is Neil Lennon! We are ALL Neil Lennon! on

    FFM:

Hmmm … on consolidation of the police, I’m on the fence. Someone was having this argument with me recently, and said the next step will be to strip local government of its independence and make everything centralised.

He assumed that thought scared me, or worried me. It doesn’t. Living in Glasgow, and seeing the level of corruption of our public offices (and that is not exclusive to all of them, but I know full well that organised crime and Glasgow politics are inextricably entwined in some parts of the city, and that corruption extends to the police too), and having seen the city become, in effect, a one party state … the idea doesn’t scare me at all.

Break up all the little fiefdoms. Shatter them completely. In order to have genuine grass roots level democracy you have to have faith that the loudest numpty in the room isn’t going to dominate the discussion … or what you have is what we’ve got here in the so-called People’s Republic of Glasgow … quasi-dictatorships. Cosy arrangements. Too many little local cabals.

Whoever ends that, will have my vote forevermore.

  8. For those watching Kill List, a must watch.

The director Wheatley is apparently no relation to Dennis Wheatley, the focus of this documentary, and friend of Alistair Crowley, and radical Tory bigot, who was very vocal about his concerns about his pal Crowley and satanic worship in Engerlund.

    http://youtu.be/qeXEj2_v6i4?t=13m10s

    Enjoy, and sleep well :)))

Mibbes, there is safety to be found in a Calvanist cleansing of Scotia right enough :)))

  9. Jimmy Forrest @ 00:21

If you’re on the fence, take a step back, and look at what has unfolded. And if you’re not concerned about his control of local, central and national government, you’re underestimating him, and ignoring the existence of his backers amigo.

I posted that link to Dennis Wheatley there, but I actually hear Jerry Goldsmith’s excellent Omen score in my napper when I see Salmond, Cameron, Blair or any other party leader. Except Gordon Brown, I still believe to this day, he was a background socialist, and that’s why he was ousted. Proof was in the pudding – he gave the rest of us more money so we could get by a bit better, by taking it from the rich, on the QT. My kind of labourite :)))

  10. McLean and Nevin told the Country (wrongly) Celtic fans were singing sectarian songs at Hampden.

Other than Celtic fans, who would disbelieve them? How do we combat that?

  11. Fred,

    How you doing amigo?

You raise a good point. This happened at a particular time. Nevin also contributed to the comittee review by Christine Graham, telling them what he was primed to say, as seems to be his skill. And his opinion was given more validation in that review over Prof Tom Devine and the leader of the Church of Scotland.

Not quite rushed through I think.

Anyone want to offer an explanation as to why a Hearts fan was found not guilty of sectarian motivated crime, despite pleading guilty? To the astonishment of even the Scottish legal establishment itself?? Hmm.

  12. Fortunes Favour Mibbes

FFS. You don’t half drag out all the irrelevant points – with untruths I might add.

Untruths? You mean lies. Say it like it is man. And then quote those lies. Because you’ll be unable to. I didn’t lie.

EL is not a bigot. You need only have been reading his posts over the years to know that.

Dictionary defintion of Bigot: “One who is strongly partial to one’s own group, religion, race, or politics and is intolerant of those who differ.”

“You nats couldn’t lie straight in bed”, likening me to a monkey. Ernie is *entirely* intolerant of views differing from his own, so he’s a bigot. Plain and simple. His obsessing about the religion of others is another telltale sign.

    An absurd and worrying accusation.

    Let me illustrate.

Ernie’s reply to Celtic Mac: “Are you on medication for that condition? If not you should consider it.”

In response to Row Z: “If you can’t accept that is the case then there’s no point me discussing the matter with you any further.”

In response to Gordon64: “Let me try to help you.”

To 79Caps: “You set your political compass by what the OO say? How odd.”

To CQN in general (without context): You guys have as much grasp of politics as Sally has of football management.

    ats and the truth eh?

And that’s ignoring the barbs directed at me.

I have never seen EL refer to the SNP shadow cabinet. You introduced that yesterday. The shadow cabinet is not the same as the cabinet – unless you’re going to tell me Michael Foot was Prime Minister at the same time as Thatcher, and as such, is equally responsible for the milk snatching?

Sorry to burst your bubble… at 12:08 on 21st March. The post that kicked this whole debate off. By Ernie – There’s never been a Catholic in an SNP cabinet or shadow cabinet. But it’s not because they have anything against Catholics.

I corrected him. Because I think it’s dengerous to accept gossip and mistruth as fact. Cue a deluge of abuse from Ernie. If you were actually reading the posts and the thread you would know this.

Please don’t take this the wrong way – but it’s important you read the threads and pay attention. You’re getting basic details completely wrong. And continually so.

He has never said that all member of the SNP are bigots. I can’t speak for him any more on that.

I never said he did. What he did say though is There’s never been a Catholic in an SNP cabinet or shadow cabinet. But it’s not because they have anything against Catholics., which is A. Wrong, and B. Implying the SNP are a racist party. He continually refused to acknowlege the fallacious nature of this until today.

Finally, can you give the time and date you posted this link before EL – I have been reading all day, and this is news to me?

If you want to read the posts, do it yourself. Either read the thread and contribute, or don’t. I don’t mind, barring your continued wrong and unfair accusations. I’ve done quite enough searching through threads to try and get you up to speed. It’s taken me enough time to trail through, if you care sufficiently you’ll invest the time.

But, here are the links to some of the passages I’ve referenced throughout this debate…

    http://books.google.co.uk/books?id=I2zNMo8YTDEC&pg=PA229&lpg=PA229&dq=dewar+gibb+SNP+Tim+pat+Coogan&source=bl&ots=bM-T0q0L0K&sig=bYdYGtIkI-agtNyrP31xiqRdJo8&hl=en&sa=X&ei=jJtPUeXlG4am0AWwm4HQCg&ved=0CDIQ6AEwAA#v=onepage&q=dewar%20gibb%20SNP%20Tim%20pat%20Coogan&f=false

Keir Hardie’s (Labour) anti-Irish racism is referenced here.

PS you might note the intention to move the debate forward now? :) Over 500 days to go, we’ve a lot to get through amigo.

I’m happy to move the debate forward, but how can I do this when Ernie won’t answer questions and continues to try and deflect the debate, and you, basically, wont read my posts? I’m spending more time issuing corrections than I am actually making points!

I want to move things forward, which is why I’ve tried to be balanced. How can we debate national interests in the face of lies? We either assess the facts or we dont. If we do, and you reach a different conclusion to me? I’m cool with that. I respect that. That’s been my position from post one.

    :) Like I said, it’s a must-watch movie. Excellent, bizarre, and excellent. :)

  14. Fortunes Favour Mibbes,

I sent a text to an old workmate about the difference in the policing of the Green brigade v the Dunfermline protest.

He replied, but they wouldn’t be causing bother or singing sectarian songs (he’s a Dons fan).

We will never win in this Country, I honestly believe that now :O(.

PS: I’m no too bad, how are you:O).

  15. p8ddy,

Can I call you Puff Daddy? Or will you change your name to Puff Diddy?

:)) Okay okay. I still think you’ve been talking sh@te and avoiding the main points, but I’ve had two bottles of wine and am feeling amicable, so I’m not going to check your references. But I will say this, EL is NO bigot. He get’s some stick on here which I find bizarre. He’s purely a debator. And has been pivotal here in defending the Celtic support against impending, now real, oppression. I respect all positions on this argument, but you didn’t and don’t afford him the respect he deserves. Change that, and I’ll buy you a copy of JF’s book and send it direct to you :)) And I’ll make sure it’s signed. In fact, I’ll even highlight the good bits with a black marker. ;)

  16. Power is Dangerous.

Who has wielded power well through history?

    It’s not a big mystery.

Time will continue until the end,

Which will not allow for the space time continuum to bend.

Far fetched claims should be scrutinised and questioned,

    And the originators sectioned,

Instead these people are praised and they are lauded,

When all they have done, is merely defrauded.

It’s a big club where most are denied access,

But things like that are ultimately worthless.

A Craig Brown type hug where the message is hidden,

No Thanks, I’d sooner die in a midden.

  17. Fred,

just watched this interview that lead on from that song – hadn’t seen it before – but the despair in JL is clear :((

Sniggers from the audience, loaded questions from an interviewer that might have well have turned up in high heels to exemplify his lack of sincerity. One would think there was a meeja campaign to ridicule John Lennon before he was assassinated….

  18. Fortunes Favour Mibbes

Can I call you Puff Daddy? Or will you change your name to Puff Diddy?

    Compromise on Puff D8ddy? :D

I still think you’ve been talking sh@te and avoiding the main points

Check through the posts and you’ll see who’s been avoiding answering questions. It’s not me. This afternoon I lost patience in Ernie’s continued refusal to accept the two way nature of debate and stopped playing his silly games.

but I’ve had two bottles of wine and am feeling amicable, so I’m not going to check your references.

You *should* check them! You’ll see what I’m saying is the truth that way. And see Ernie’s inability to entertain others views, or indeed refrain from insulting people.

But I will say this, EL is NO bigot.

Respectfully, I disagree. He’s a religious obsessive who has, on an almost compulsive basis has avoided any point that may threaten his world view. Check through the posts.

Being a bigot doesn’t make him a bad person. But I honestly beleive he needs to address some of his views and conduct. Likening me to a monkey is particularly offensive. Maybe I’ll report him to the police and get him charged under this new bill – there was an under 21 game on during it! (that’s a joke btw….) :)

He get’s some stick on here which I find bizarre.

Maybe his lack of tolerance of other peoples views?

He’s purely a debator. And has been pivotal here in defending the Celtic support against impending, now real, oppression.

He’s not interested in debate – if he can’t bludgeon his way through a debate he’s toothless! Other posters linked to points he referenced. Ernie came up with zilch. I try and always remember we’re on the same side, but when someone is continually insulting and dismissive it’s hard to keep that view.

I respect all positions on this argument, but you didn’t and don’t afford him the respect he deserves.

I called Ernie out. I, at no point, was anything other than respectful. There’s only one person that’s shown a signal lack of respect. Only one person resorting to ad hominems, not just against me, but against several posters.

BTW, Liberty’s article on the bill – https://www.liberty-human-rights.org.uk/pdfs/policy11/liberty-s-stage-3-briefing-offensive-behaviour-at-football-scotland-bill-dec.pdf

Whilst you or i may struggle to adopt a meta-position and see the bill in context, I think Liberty do. It was rushed, needs repealed, but was an incredibly cack handed attempt at fixing a percieved problem. I say percieved because the civil liberties question trumps, by some disance, the need to save people from offence.

  19. James Forrest is Neil Lennon! We are ALL Neil Lennon!…

  20. Fortunes Favour Mibbes,

Thanks for that, never seen it before. He mentions ” character myths” my point exactly about the Celtic support in Scotland.

To the broader community we are what the media label us as…again, how do we combat that?

  21. Good morning CHAMPIONS

Just logged on to an appoplectic arguement here. Can I just add my tuppenceworth? I have been a contributer to this site for over 7 years, and have always found Ernie Lynch quite a controversial character at times, but, although I somtimes agreed with his points, I have never at any time found him to be a bigot. Just my opinion.

Now, after tending to twin lambs been born and the ewe rejecting one, which we hopefully have corrected, I bid you all a very good night. Is it not wonderful being a member of the Celtic Family? I am certainly very proud to be one. Night night Timland.

  22. P8ddy,

A lot of nonsense again amigo – I preferred when we were moving on, but understand you’re answering my post before hand.

EL is no bigot. You’re bang out of order to say that amigo. His arguments have been succint and relevant to developping a debate. Your’s haven’t.

    ANYWAY!…..

After watching the JL interview above, here’s PMcC’s interview. Notice the use of context exclusion and dramatics to further support for himself, 5 years after the death of one of the most influential people in western society who went against the grain!…

When you put this video into context, it not only exemplifies the importance of context, but it also shows Paul McCartney to be the pr@ck he is.
