I watched Scotland play a more accomplished Wales last night. No one in blue played particularly well but when Charlie Mulgrew prepared to take a corner from the right in first half stoppage time we knew Wales were in danger.
The pace, low trajectory and movement Charlie gets on the ball negates the natural advantage the defending team has. The goal had little to do with the young lad who got on the end of the cross, just as Celtic’s remarkable success from corners has little to do with their ability to attack the ball.

Police acting in the most overt political manner since the thatcher years, govt ignorning any dissenting voices (and indeed discrediting them (just wait till the news about where the leaks around scottish cardinal behaviour came from).
And you want independence – independence from what? common sense? From a limiting factor of scottish sectarianism?

If you look further out of the football situation and into Minty’s £1000M loans from BOS, and relate it to Minty’s land deals with which the SNP played a none too insignificant role, it gets even more disturbing. His recent consilidation of the rozzers and placing Strathy’s complicit finest at the helm, is not the only issue.

Break up all the little fiefdoms. Shatter them completely. In order to have genuine grass roots level democracy you have to have faith that the loudest numpty in the room isn’t going to dominate the discussion … or what you have is what we’ve got here in the so-called People’s Republic of Glasgow … quasi-dictatorships. Cosy arrangements. Too many little local cabals.

You raise a good point. This happened at a particular time. Nevin also contributed to the comittee review by Christine Graham, telling them what he was primed to say, as seems to be his skill. And his opinion was given more validation in that review over Prof Tom Devine and the leader of the Church of Scotland.

I have been a contributer to this site for over 7 years, and have always found Ernie Lynch quite a controversial character at times, but, although I somtimes agreed with his points, I have never at any time found him to be a bigot. Just my opinion.
