Mulgrew’s magnificent delivery

1279

I watched Scotland play a more accomplished Wales last night.  No one in blue played particularly well but when Charlie Mulgrew prepared to take a corner from the right in first half stoppage time we knew Wales were in danger.

The pace, low trajectory and movement Charlie gets on the ball negates the natural advantage the defending team has.  The goal had little to do with the young lad who got on the end of the cross, just as Celtic’s remarkable success from corners has little to do with their ability to attack the ball.

The Wee Oscar 4 Life team have asked me to pass on this message:

Wee Oscar 4 Life are delighted to be offering you the chance to win a fantastic and very unique auction prize.

We have been donated a very special bottle of 8 year old Bowmore, which has come straight from the cask. The Whisky is 59.4%, unlike a normal malt whisky which is cut to 40% proof.

The whisky was distilled on 13 March 2001, and bottled on 26 June 2009.  It has been donated by a very kind CQNer. However, not content with already donating 3 bottles from his share of the cask to raise funds for Wee Oscar , we now have his prized possession:

Bottle no 1 of 251.  A very special prize in aid of a very special wee bhoy.

  1. So which team’s last 5 division 3 games have been (with their score appearing first) –

Feb 26 – away to Stirling Albion 1-1

March 2 – home to East Stirling 3-1

March 9 – home to Annan Athletic 1-2

    March 16 – away to Elgin 1-0

March 23 – home to Stirling Albion 0-0

    Those 4 opponents currently sit 7th, 10th, 8th and 6th in Scotland’s 4th tier.

    So that’s played 5, won 2, drawn 2, scored 6, conceded 4.

    Absolutely loving this season!

Dewar Gibb is deid, just like the huns.

Does his legacy live on? Is that a driver of SNP policy, action, opinion?

A whole 4 years as a ‘leader’ and ‘intellectual’. Puts him on a par with Michael Foot then but with less influence and power?

My brother is bone of my bone, blood of my blood………. but frankly he’s an eejit and so is his politics. It doesn’t mean I agree with everything he does. It’s undeniable that the planters have large numbers drawn from the Scots as it is undeniable about the Scots role in Empire, slavery etc etc………

If the SNP are a closet protestant supremacist force masquerading as something else surely that would leak out? Are they the inheritance of Gibb’s Scotland Party with it’s very pro-union stance or MacCormick’s NPS who were anti union and left of centre?

My experience of ‘orange’ people and politics is that I know many more in the labour party than any other party. The hardliners all vote Tory in the absence of a more acceptable unionist candidate. I can’t think of any in the SNP or who favour anything other than the union.

I am sure that amongst its membership it has Catholic haters. I’d be surprised if every other party doesn’t also have this. Foulkes anyone (and someone made him a Lord!)?

There are people at Celtic Park every week who vote Tory, believe in the Union and deride Irish Republicanism.

McAskill is a sevcovian. He speaks like he’s issuing a presbyterian sermon. I find him untrustworthy, obnoxious and shallow, but then he does have the excuse of being a lawyer.

Is Scotland 2013 the same as Scotland 1930? You obviously think so and will vote accordingly. My preferred option is not on the table so I’ll need to weigh which option yes or no is more likely to move in that direction. Still undecided, but the state of the SNP does not feature strongly in that weighing since either yes or no they can always be voted out as well as voted into office.

With Sevco getting booed off the park today at half time and full time they are now just one booing off short of a new world record. The current world record is held by Shkumbini of the Albanian National League who were booed off the park 58 times in season 2011- 2102. Sevco who had been booed off 56 times before prior to today have now equalled that record and need just one more booing off to set a new world record.

Lucky Cody. Agree. If independence looks likely none of my familys cash will be in a Scottish bank.

    ?????

The only Scottish Bank left is the Airdrie Savings Bank. The rest are all multi-national corporations operating primarily, but not exclusively from……….. London.

These are the self same banks that without exception were going down the Cyprus route except that we the tax-payers bailed them out so that they could again establish their bonus culture.

Your money would be far safer in the Airdrie Savings Bank methinks!

Celtic to form Guard of Honour for Saints cup stars

Mar 23 2013 by Jeff Holmes, Paisley Daily Express

Celtic players are set to form a ‘guard of honour’ at St Mirren Park next weekend to welcome the Paisley club’s League Cup heroes onto the pitch.

The Hoops will visit Paisley on SPL duty a week tomorrow and Parkhead gaffer Neil Lennon is keen to congratulate the Buddies on their Hampden heroics.

Lennon told Express Sports : “I think it’s only right that the occasion is marked in the proper way, so we will look at doing something.”

The offer from Lennon is all the more impressive as it was St Mirren who denied his Celtic team the chance to complete a domestic Treble

    .

Goals by Esmael Goncalves, Paul McGowan and Steven Thompson were enough to secure a 3-2 win against the Old Firm giants in the League Cup semi-finals and set up last Sunday’s Hampden date with destiny.

Brian Caldwell, St Mirren’s chief executive, said: “For the Celtic players to form a guard of honour would be a really nice touch but I haven’t heard anything official yet.

“Winning the cup was a fantastic achievement by everyone at the club and a guard of honour would keep that feelgood factor going.”

Indeed it was only when the English got involved that questions started to be asked about the huns easy access to money.

I like you as a poster bud however i put a lot of trust in Devines research

I do not dispute there are pockets of morons in the labour market who discriminate on creed, sex, appearance, etc etc and they are all over the world, from my own experiences (Catholic discrimination) in Scotland, i travel in the course of my employment, IMO things have greatly improved just as T Devine research has shown

With respect to your honestly held views, the fact that there was rampant sectarianism during the era of Labour domination of the Scottish political scene,as opposed the alleged equality we see now is actually a reason to vote FOR them.

The improvements which have taken place during that time must be down to a drive for equality in the workplace, and in life in general.

Most of these improvements were a goal-and an achievement-of the Labour movement, which encompasses the party of that name, unions, local government, and non-aligned organisations.

You may as well say that there were children being sent up chimneys when Labour was formed, therefore I’m not voting for them!

The reward for the Labour Party’s fight to improve the lot of the working man has been to see an inexorable decline in it’s natural support base.

Because it has improved the lives of so many far beyond the dreams of those who first voted for it,and now the descendants of those voters are turning their backs on it,and rubbishing it’s record.

Might as well be a failure and achieve nothing, but still have your original aims,eh?

  22. Devine states:

“But thereafter Mr Kearney and I part company. We seem to be living in different countries. He seems not to be aware that sectarian discrimination in the labour market had disappeared by the 1980s, and that, by the 1990s”

    It has not disappeared fact.

How would Tom Devine know if it existed or didn’t he is an academic in an ivory tower and unless there is a comprehensive study of employment by religion these trite sayings which simply roll off the tongue mean nothing.

The Scottish government destroyed sectarian crime stats and won’t explain prison stats which show RCs and Muslims as being twice as likely to be locked up as their Protestant and agnostic peers.

When the government has the balls to do a study for employment by religion then I will listen. The oft repeated mantra that things are getting better doesn’t reassure me.
