My bet is on Kris

1124

It’s ‘get back on the horse’ time for Celtic tomorrow when they face Inverness at Celtic Park.  The Highlanders will arrive with a different type of momentum about them from the home team.  On their last outing Celtic conceded a league goal and lost a league game for the first time since before Jock Stein’s arrival in 1965*.  They are now out of all three cup competitions and have an unassailable 19 point lead in the league.  Talk in some places has already turned to giving the younger players an outing.

By contrast it’s all kicking off for Inverness, who humbled Hearts to reach the first Celtic Park final of the season, just two weeks away.  The excitement in Inverness is palpable.  Betting odds are seldom generous on Celtic at home but with all the sub-currents surrounding this one I’d prefer not to predict an outcome.

What we need to do is match the energy of Inverness and ensure our passing and movement remains crisp.

If you are tempted into a bet, don’t look past Kris Commons to get things moving.  He is our go-to guy when we’re looking for an ignition button.  Kris has been phenomenal in front of goal this season but he has failed to score in four outings.  The last time this happened was 51 weeks ago.  My bet is that he can’t wait to get on the field and put things right.

The outstanding Celtic Graves Society are breathing life into the memory of Peter Dowds, who played for Celtic from 1889.  Writing in 1936, Willie Maley wrote about Peter, “He did not find the ball.  Nothing so common.  It found him.”

A short ceremony will take place at Peter’s grave, at Abbey Cemetery, Elderslie, at 11:30 tomorrow.  If you live in the area or can make it along, please do so.  You will hear from Jim Craig and others, and get infused with our early history in a way you’ll never do sitting at a screen. Details here.

There is a little over two weeks to go before the CQteN St Patrick’s Night Dinner on Friday, 14 March, at the Kerrydale Suite, Celtic Park. The beneficiary of the night will be Kholoni Primary School, Malawi, where we will fund Mary’s Meals to build a kitchen for 1200 kids who currently don’t have meal facilities.

We have received some incredible assistance already, but you can get involved by ordering a personalised beanie hat, with your name on one side and CQN on the other.

Hats cost £15 each and if you order before 7 March you can collect yours at the CQteN Dinner. If you’re not attending the dinner (and why not?) the £15 will cover postage and packaging. If you ordered a Virtual Ticket, you’re personalised hat is part of your package. All profits go to the school kitchen.

Take a look at the front and back of the hats. To order, email hatfrompat@celticquicknews.co.uk with name, whether you are attending CQteN and address if not, and I’ll get your message to Pat.

Are there ‘certifiable’ documents that you are aware of that implicate oor Campbell in naughty behaviour?

    ==========================

There are documents whose veracity is ok but how they were obtained is not.

They show Campbell Ogilvie was in the room when Rangers embarked on the ebt trail that led to the wee tax case and that his public utterances since 2012, when it turned out he was an ebt recipient under the big tax case appear to have been disingenuous and he should clarify his statements.

I don’t have a lot of time for TSFM, in the sense that I just don’t have enough hours in the day. Often reading on there takes me off on time-consuming tangents. However, when on there I always read ecobhoy, he’s got a fair and open mind.

How’s that Res: 12 progressing? Did I see you posting that Celtic have been on that particular case since 2011, or did I dream it?

    ===========================

Aye ecobhoy has done some fine work. Very thorough.

There was a Res 12 meeting on Thursday and an update should be out over the weekend although I posted something late last night around 2am ish if you can find it.

No you did not dream it, Celtic had asked questions but reply, whilst accurate. did not cover the whole process. It is how that was done that is being looked at.

Previously you suggested Celtic get lawyers on the case, what I neglected to mention was that the Company Secretary whom we deal with is a lawyer.

  4. Well it was twenty years ago today (roughly)

So if it has not been muted before, how about a minute’s applause for Fergus on the 20th minute of today’s match?

They belittled him, us, the club and its achievments but their rage, jealousy and hatred of those achievements brought them to where they are today because they could never attain that one big cup. Now they don’t have to worry because they are little now, and hopefully to be gone soon.

Fergus deserves recognition for keeping us alive and going forward.

  5. I wonder if there’ll be a minutes applause at the 35 min-mark in recognition of the

35k of fans who have disappeared from their seats ?

Oh, and, if Fergus hadn’t signed the ‘deal’…Willie Haughey and, Gerald Weisfeld were

Depends what has caused the problem. I managed to do the same initially but the virus, hacker, whatever it was, kept trying to access the account using the former password. The persistent failed log-in attempts led to the account being locked. Spent months trying to re-gain control, even managed to open a query with them, far from easy to do, all a watse of time.

At the time it was gutting. I’d had the account for years and it contained really important saved e-mails.

    ———————————————————–

I think the HT/FT result was 18/1 at the start of the day, then the bookies sliced the odds to 11/4 an hour before kick off.

The home team were 100/1 in-play with 8 minutes to go, apparently.

I must be the only man in Ireland that wasn’t on that gamble, but sure it was good to see those horrible bookies take a bit of a hammering, fix or no fix.

Cheers for getting back to me, I thought you’d gone to bed, but by now you’d think I’d know better.

Ecobhoy is probably my favourite poster on there, he’s not a knee-jerker and neither has acute mind been poisoned by too many politically correct pills. I also get the feeling that like me he has a degree of empathy and compassion for your pavement hun and sees the root of evil in shinny brown brogues under polished oak desks. Also he gives credence and respect to the content of the post as opposed the reputation or status of the poster or said posters submission count; my kind of Celtic Supporter.

Cheers too for your explanation of Campbell and his naughty behaviour. I wonder how many of those documents could find their way into the public domain to shine a big blinding spot-light on the charlatan; of course without tainting any documents held in reserve, nor prejudicing any future prosecution.

Some days I can only skim the blog mate and that is why I wasn’t sure if I’d read it or not. See my problem with Celtic lawyers is a simple one. I was taught that the best lawyer is not the most gifted academically, nor the one who can recall case law at will, I was taught that the best lawyer is the one who can street argue and knows the vernacular of his audience and knows how to play them and who is at heart, a brick. I know there is so much more to it than that (in the issue of ‘licence’) but basically I like my lawyers to talk and argue and with guile and eloquence persuade; as often evidenced on here with BRTH. I’m not Machiavellian by nature, can’t be arsed with it, but I’d be happy if any lawyer I employed to represent me was aggressively Machiavellian, and have him swing his handbag and smear and smut, knowing full well, if his attitude did not achieve the required result, I’d appeal up the line with a more palatable brief representing me. Silence and lawyers for me are a wee bit like honesty and the SFA.

I’m not saying I am right in anything, but I have a gut feeling, if Celtic, with good and right on their side, stopped being so subservient, and with all guns blazing, went after the truly guilty, not the huns, they just took the cookies out of the jar, I think the crowds at homes games would be so keen, there would no room left in Parkhead for air or light, AND I think the world would be interested and supportive.

I said as much last night. The sheer hypocrisy, lies and issue fudging from Keevins was an example of our msm at its worst.

Hacks like him prefer to forget the past when it suits. And yet at the same time Keevins lives in the past, cocooned in his 1970’s press timewarp where headlines were dreamt up in Sammy Dows over halves and half pints, pitifully refusing to accept that he has been sussed, outed and blown away by those more savvy internet people he labelled bampots.
