New Balance take over from Nike this summer as Celtic’s official kit partner and main sponsor. The US sportswear firm have along heritage in technical products, like running shoes, with less of a legacy in the leisurewear market than the likes of Nike, but this move, as well as a recent deal to partner Liverpool, indicates a strong commitment to become a major player in the football marketplace.
Both the Celtic and Liverpool contracts have been advertised as potentially record deals for the respective clubs, although each club declined to put a figure on the value, or the contract period in their official statements. It’s likely that a significant part of the contract fee will depend on Champions League qualification.
Unconfirmed reports put the size of the deal at £29m, cash that other clubs have securitised off to a retailer.
Last call today for CQN11 St Patrick’s Dinner, which takes place next Friday, 13 March, at the Kerrydale Suite. After the dinner we have a Q&A with Packy Bonnar, Tommy Coyne, Joe Miller and Tom Boyd. We have Archie Macpherson speaking about Jock Stein on the 50th anniversary of him becoming manager, and song from Patricia Ferns.
The object of the night is to raise money to build another school kitchen for Mary’s Meals in Malawi. Kris Commons’ partner, Lisa Hague, will also join us. She will be auctioning an incredible prize of a signed Ronny Deila jersey, signed Kris Commons boots and match hospitality in the Players’ Lounge for the Marie Curie Hospice in Glasgow.
Tickets will be posted out over the next few days, email me if you’re still looking, celticquicknews@gmail.com we’re closing the book tomorrow.

Celtic Mac
BBC Scotland ran with STV’s resident hurting Orc ( Peter Smith ) who dreamed up the questions, they work in cahoots in Scotland, and I posted in 2012 that Celtic would continually be made to suffer for Rangers in liquidation.
It’s a fever pitch just now because ‘ passions are running high ‘ and the reincarnation is doing worse than the original.
It’s relentless and Peter Lawell and Celtic are perfectly well aware that the press conference was agenda driven, in an attempt to slur and minimalise the biggest kit deal ever in Scotland.
Celtic remain a miraculous club.

EXCELLENT POST – GOT IT SPOT ON!
So this Billy Davis CV then……..
Motherwell
sacked after poor form saw Motherwell gain just 3 points from seven matches
Preston North End
Davies took Preston to the brink of the Premier League via the play-offs in May 2005 but lost in the final. Preston went on to qualify for the play-offs for a second successive season although the side again failed to win promotion as they were knocked out by Leeds United after losing the semi-final second leg, after he famously left Elland Road (the 1st leg) issuing the quote “Job Done” to the media, just to be beaten at home and knocked out of the play-offs.
Derby County
After criticising Derby’s board for lack of investment, Davies left Pride Park by mutual consent in November 2007 with the club bottom of the league
Nottingham Forest
Following failure in the play-offs for the second season running, on 12 June 2011 Davies was sacked as manager of Nottingham Forest.
Return to Nottingham Forest
Davies’ second spell proved to be a controversial and damaging one.
After an eight game winless run leaving Nottingham Forest one place and two points outside of the play-off positions and having seen his side lose 5-0 to local rivals Derby County on 22 March, he was sacked on 24 March 2014
Seems an ideal candidate actually

Yeh that could work!

Sorry I can’t help but wanted to say what a cracking birthday present. Dortmund still my favourite place that I’ve visited, when watching Celtic.
A big thank you from my daughter to Pat of Patmcginley fame, for a great job done on her today.Anyone wanting their car looked after contact Pat.
I don’t know the details of our package with NB but must admit I feel we should be striving to get a better deal than the one being reported.
Regarding PL response to the bias hacks, unfortunately I don’t think he has the quickness of thought to put these people in their place,to me he is someone who needs to have a prepared answer,as shown by his barbed comments at our AGM.
Peter, invite them individually to your office, and kick them in the ” baws”
” done on her car today”

STV and BBC Scotland?
Feeding off each other more like.
That’s what bacteria do, that is what microbes do

Thanks mate , hope he enjoys it .
EK Bhoy …. I agreed that the MSM’s inaction was a key factor in their downfall.
what bothers me is that Celtic has no issue using the press to criticize its own fans, but lets Sevco and their minions in the msm away with everything. This happens too often for it to be inadvertent.
There was a bloody big press release about one flare…. but I haven’t seen the same about the msm’s attempts to link celtic to the ira, nor do I expect to see one. Why not?
I suspect that it is much like the old story about Jock Stein saying he would always sign the protestant because he knew R***s would never sign the catholic. Now, PL knows that a large portion of his audience has republican sympathies, and those people will never switch over to Sevco … they are, effectively, a captive market for Celtic.
conversely, the only way he can increase his target audience is to pander to ‘the neutrals’ and those on the other side … if he waters down Celtic’s ‘irishness’ , Celtic’s brand will be more palatable to more in Scotland… a few with republican sympathies may leave, but Celtic will hope to pick up from the neutral/other side camp, and hence have a net increase ….
Its always about the bottom line … I really do believe that it is that simple and that cynical.

Well said.
Surprised PL was not more hard nosed with the loaded question, after getting into it he did not emphasise Celtic were not actively involved with those organisations perceived as illegal.
He should have blocked it however the Press as a whole should be binned out the good seats, they need us to sell papers and if they want to invent stories then do it in the Car Park.
Watch Peters Smiths chums turn on him then.
Anyone know.
Did Brian Dempsey actually say Oldco were demoted!!!!! or have his words been distorted?

Nomads wanted!!!
I don’t think they should have any bother getting a Nomad because I’ve been laughing my Nomads off for the last three years at this excuse for a club.

He sure did.
Dempsey said: “Since Rangers were demoted, Scottish football hasn’t been the same. It has damaged the game. ”
A balloon.

You are over thinking this re PL
Literally must fly ..
Pedro is not a top level CEO ; such a person would have swatted such questions like an annoying fly.
In a way Pedros softly softly approach has allowed this to happen. It’s simple
1. invitation only for such a key event. If you cannot make it no designates – no entry.
2. Start bannings. Pick one paper The Sun, Record, Herald, Scotsman and ban everyone of them and advise others its you next. No mercy.
3. Install a proper PR for pro active media approach.
Pedro needs to sharpen up. As I have said many times he is a third rate CEO and I would sack him.

Clan na Gael
Forever!
gordybhoy … not so far fetched… but no one is expecting Sevconian season ticket holders to buy seats at CP next season … but PL is looking at the long game here … there are the ‘neutrals’ in scotland (who do not self-identify as sevconians, but still hated NFL, and thought ‘he brought it on himself) … they would be his first catchbasin …. then, ‘sevco will go under in the not too distant future … the old prejudices will fade in time, and that market will eventually be in play ….
but I’m just not sure that, by that time, if Celtic continues to be run simply for and by money, there will be anything unique left about Celtic … it will be Coke versus Pepsi … nothing more …
Dave needs upwards of £20m, but from where?

******
If Dempsey’s words were distorted, then he should sue.
Disgraceful comments from a chancer.
How many questions did the succulent lamb brigade ask Walturd after the orcs were pumped 4-1 in their own midden by that team of Romanian minnows that’s now bust?
None.
Yet now they feel compelled to ask questions about flares, songs etc in press conferences about a shirt sponsorship deal.
Muckraking scumbags.
Brian Dempsey?
“The rebels have won!”
“Right, we’re moving to Robroyston.”
…” but Fergus, and a few others, are providing the funding.”
HH!!
Fourgreenfields, your son will hopefully be grateful to you forever for that birthday present, that is a top notch gift.
Some of us were in Dortmund when we first played them in 1987. As Jimmynotpaul said, great city to visit along with the main swallay, Dortmunder Actien Bier with Dortmunder Union bier almost as good..
If you haven’t already been, the Westfalen stadium( Signal Iduna now) is in a nice parkland area of the city.
Some of the guys on the bus we went in ended up staying in the Bender Hotel. I’m sure Dortmund have a player called Bender.
One of the big flags waved by the Dortmund fans, has a Celtic crest on it. I saw it in one of the Bundesliga highlights programmes.
Some of the Green Brigade have a tie up with the Bayern Munich ultras.
latchford … with all due respect, I disagree … PL may be a lot of things… but he is NOT a stupid man. He is a very astute businessman, who is doing exactly what his de facto boss (DD) wants him to do … he is chasing the pound … and doesn’t care whether it is irish pounds, scottish pounds, catholic pounds, protestant pounds … as long as the money comes in, he will take it
Roberttressell
Can hymns be on the album
Nomad is an island :-)
Yes. I agree.
Disgraceful words by Dempsey.
We spend lots of time fighting MSM about the big lie and now Dempsey helps them.
Catching up, does anyone have a link to PL’s press conference today please?
Re last night’s game. We were beaten by a better team on the night simple as that.
Despite the abuse on here I thought Efe was one of our better players last night. He put in two excellent crosses, one from each wing, and probably came closest to scoring with his second half header.
The vitriol poured on Forrest was shocking as was the booing on the final whistle.
Dave King jets into Glasgow.

Happy 18th to your grandson.

If nomads need pasture then I suggest that find out where SuperAlly is.

Never been to Dortmund before mate , really looking forward to it myself :-)
Mike in Toronto,
One of Big Jock’s quotes was about, how much pleasure it gave him that people who would not normally watch Celtic were now coming to watch them.
I presumed, at the time, that he was talking about neutrals.
