Newco’s potential investor

Just a short one while we await the Uefa meeting to breakup.  I see the press have caught up on the information I left on CQN on 11 March about the potential investor in Newco.  Then, I wrote, “If [The Sun) had even given us something like, ‘A fan, originally from Paisley, who made his money in the Far East’ I would have thought their information was possibly on a par with mine.”

A month ago, Newco were the only club in Scotland facing a financial crisis, today, almost all are, but Newco’s situation is acute.  No Paisley-born-boy-did-good is going to change that.  There’s lots more going on here than I can write about or that others will.  Good luck to Stuart Gibson, if he signs that P.G.

    TBB, stirring stuff, just the information we (I) need and enjoy to brighten up an otherwise grey and wet day here. Is the guy just unlucky in his timing or is he another fud in a long list of fuds to be associated with the mongrels frae the sooside? Or was that second one a rhetorical question?

    Without belittling the current situation, the government say they are hoping to keep Corona virus deaths down to 20,000

     

    Influenzas cause approximately 29,000 deaths per annum

     

    This would mean a reduction of 9000 bearing in mind that any flu deaths will more than likely be attributed to Corona

     

    Like I say, not belittling but hopefully putting things into a little perspective for anyone overly worrying

    Funnily enough there is an article on Celtic noise today which mentions song but doesn’t give the words.

     

    I remember the fans actually sing hail glorious st Patrick too.

     

    I think there was one occasion Frank Harvey was injured and fans tried to rally him with such a rendition. Though I may well be wrong on that score.

    That’s interesting… hadn’t read that version of events, although I’d heard about the Kilpatrick connection.

     

     

    My son was doing some family ancestary and did a DNA check… it took him back to Niall Noígiallach high King of Ireland, so I did some research, if what we new and supposed our families history to be true then our likely lineage came through Niall’s son – Eógan mac Néill.

    Now when I researched him, although not as powerful as his father or some of his brothers he none the less was a powerful King in Ulster.

     

     

    It is said he was Baptised by St Patrick. There is a commemoration plaque where he is supposedly buried – in St Patrick’s Church Iskaheen, Inishowen.

     

     

    The story went…

     

     

    When St Patrick was a slave, he was was befriended by Eógan. Many years later when St Patrick returned they renewed there friendship and St Patrick Baptised Eógan as part of his mass conversions – I couldn’t find corroboration on this.

     

     

    However it makes sense within your narrative – after St Patrick’s rejection in Wicklow, it maybe why he was welcomed in Ulster – it is said he went up Strangford lough which was in Eógan mac Néill’s Kingdom at that time.

     

     

    Would love to know more, get corroboration.

    Death’s from influenza vary widely. The average for the UK is nowhere near 27,OOO,

     

    27,000 would probably represent the worse year ever but the average number would be a lot less.

     

    UK Records are not published

     

    It very much depends on the strain in any particular year.

     

    Also the Corona Virus is nowhere as widely spread as Influenza.

     

    There is little doubt that it is a far more dangerous virus.

     

    I certainly agree that we shouldn’t panic about it but neither should we be complacent.

     

    Everyone needs to take personal responsibility to try & keep themselves safe & thus reduce the pressure on the Health Services.

     

    Hopefully warmer weather will bring respite but this will remain a major problem until a vaccine is widely available,

     

    That is likely at least a year away.

    In these days of a volatile market it can be challenging to find a save haven for your money.

     

     

    Government bonds, gold or a 8 year old football club that has never broke even and needs £10 million to see out the current season ?

     

     

    It’s a tricky decision.

    Until a couple of days ago their working hypothesis was 200,000 deaths.

     

     

    At 60% infection rate that’s a fatality rate of 0.55%.

     

     

    The 20,000 figure seems overly optimistic.
