Delighted for Martin O’Neill on taking Ireland into the last 16 of the Euros. Since his salad days ended at Celtic, Martin’s had more downs than ups as a manager. I felt the game had moved on from him, even during his five years at Celtic, the game tactically moved away from him, but he’s one of a number of managers of small nations who have overachieved.
I’m not buying Roy Keane’s tears, though. Reaching the last 16 of the Euros is a great achievement, but he disparaged Mick McCarthy’s achievement with Ireland in going out of the 2002 World Cup in the last 16 to Spain on penalties. Maybe it’s time for some humility from Roy.
If anything, Michael O’Neill’s achievements with the north has been even greater. Michael was mentioned as a possible Celtic manager before Brendan’s appointment, but the point was made to me, whatever he achieved in qualifying, he could be embarrassed in all three Euros games. Now he needs to beat Wales for a place in the quarter finals.
The group stages have been a delight. Some big tactical lessons for underdogs, and for teams who face 10 men behind the ball every week. If you don’t make defensive mistakes you can win any game, possession and territorial advantage is a mirage of influence.

Canamalar
We are all frustrated by the time it’s taking.
You had been consistently vocal until recently and your views mainly refect my own.
You are closer to developments than the majority here, who can only speculate and vent frustration from the wings.
If you now feel it’s best to keep schtum, that is good enough for me.
Just get a move on …will ye? :-))))
It’s a right dump. Went there once, bloody depressing place.
Canamalar,
Keep shtum and go about your business under the radar.
There’s faith and trust in you boys.
No matter what happens you all can hold your heads high.
Hail Hail
It’s no easy for cats to concentrate when there’s catnip in the room

Ok, I give up. Paragraph 7 of the article, making fun of Celtic fans’ concerns, reproduced below.
” The Eye on page 94 cites the offshoregame.net report alleging that “the Scottish Premier League inquiry into Rangers’ use of undisclosed employment benefit trusts (EBTs) to pay players had either been misled or misled itself, and how subsequently the Scottish Football Association had ignored Rangers’ related EBT problems with the taxman to allow the financially struggling club to compete in the 2011-12 Champions League, contrary to UEFA rules.” ”
I want CQN to be wise to a wind up. That’s it. I’d never know what The National writes about Celtic, if Celts here didn’t promote their poison.
Now 1/6 from 1/7 for remain.

Canamalar,
Ignore the hotheids demanding answers. They want answers but are not willing to put in the effort you guys have to get to where you are now.
Always count to ten before putting pen to paper, or before you press that send button.

Trick is, we were the hot heads this time and nearly made a right james hunt of it. F1 style.
That catnip is powerful stuff, makes you think you got everything you always wanted.
Really glad we took too long correcting/refining the statement, suddenly feels like we could have blown everything with one silly shot of pomposity, no even relevant to what was asked.
Then, here we are, reality, still in with a shout, in control and answerable only to those who supported us and gladly reporting we still have recourse, without self inflicted wounds.

Maybe Take breath buddy –
4/9 from 2/7 for remain.
Sunderland and Newcastle results both have much higher Leave votes than forecast.
A worrying trend.
This would be exciting if the stakes weren’t so high
WITS
It’s certainly not looking good,if those two are indicative.
For me personally,
I think Timbhoy3 should be reported to Focus for contravention of the OBFA, he has made threatening and abusive comments on line and exemplifies exactly why this bill will continue to exist, so we should use it. Timbhoy3 guilty, go to jail, do not collect £200 when you pass go. This land was not made for you.

You and the rest of the team deserve enormous praise and all the credit in the world.
“Those who know do not speak and those who speak do not know.”
Timbhoy3,
“I’ll stiff him”
Hopefully that’s the last comment of yours I’ll ever read on here.
