Organisational indiscipline remains a concern

949

Yesterday’s win at Fir Park was huge for Celtic’s season but we should caution against talk of a corner being turned.  The team possessed the resilience (and Irish magician) to come from behind and beat the team who were second in the league, but we have been here before.

The Motherwell goal will cause Neil Lennon particular concern.  After losing a goal to an early corner kick against Rennes on Thursday, it seems impossible to believe that the team switched off at another corner kick, but only Beram Kayal was alert to the threat of Motherwell taking a short corner, and he was already covering a threat.

Organisational discipline is as important as having better players to the outcome of many football games.

For those who believe that history repeats itself Sunday’s game and the atrocious refereeing display of Charlie Richmond has a long series of precedents.

Almost 40-years ago a referee who, like Richmond, had never refereed a Celtic game for years was brought out of mothballs to officiate in a crucial league-cup tie that Celtic badly needed to get out of the way with the congested fixture list they had.

Like Sunday’s corrupt debacle the referee had a shocker and it was so bad that fans were carried away by the police for attempting to get on the park to get the ref and the police even had to guard the main doors at Parkhead after the match to protect the ref.

Unlike Sunday’s game our manager did not take it on the chin and after 90 minutes with the scores level and extra time looming Big Jock strode on to have it out with the ref.

And again unlike Sunday’s game the press were not so deep in the pocket of their Ibrox paymasters that they kept schtoom.

Assisi / Gubbio and Orvieto are well worth visiting ——- more so in the winter —–the tourist hordes and the associated rabid commercialism are much less in evidence . Perugia has a real good annual jazz festival .

    Big Nan,

i wasn’t at that game I was down in Worthing and the steam choo choo took about three days to get to Glasgow in the winter, usually breaking down somewhere like Skipton where you could get tea in thin plastic cups from the platform. Anyway that has nothing to do with the real point of interest ( stop snoring at the back there)

Have a look at the first picture again?

Just learning his trade? Surely it can’t be?

Is that a young Dallas, or on closer examination of the stance, possibly Debbie? A remarkable resemblance and well taught by the master of masonic manipulation, Bobby Daidson.

My memory isn’t brilliant on this one but I am pretty sure of another great Jock tale in his battles with referees

Bobby Tate Junior a referee in name only, had single handedly tried to beat Celtic with an array of decisions that only an Edinburgh Jury or an OJ Simpson court could have concocted. After the farce drew to a close,, the young man who’s father had been a ref and had been the doyen of dastardly devious deeds against Celtic also, approached the waiting Celtic manager.

As he neared his nemesis, Jock seemed to calm his worries by simply saying ‘your father would have been proud of you’.

Tate thanked him and then glanced back at the big man, who was by now smiling, realising that perhaps it wasn’t a complement!

  5. Last week whilst looking through some Celtic memorabilia pictures, I came across the ole Celtic scarf worn by the fans, myself, and my brother included in the 60’s and early 70’s.

Little did I know, a wee link to nostalgia put up on CQN would result in a parcel from the postman containing a gift all the way specially, from Donegal.

I wore it with pride, and I’ll wear again for every trip to Paradise, as this retro chic, is perfect for the Gazebo, and when you see the moniker thomthethim always read and respect, as he is graced, with the magic of Celtic.

Couldn’t be Dallas but could be a lookalike.

The fallacy that Big Jock just told the players to score more than the opposition and that took the corrupt or biased ref out of the equation should be exposed.

Big Jock was a Mason and knew the abuses that went on with that crowd which in Scotland is closely linked to the OO. So he knew the score and was passionate enough to make his point forcefuly. Something that gets forgotten in the mist of the myths.

Question – I noticed the straight red card issued by Collum to the Aberdeen player in the gam v the huns was downgraded to a yellow. This being the case it stands to reason Collum got it wrong (Yes I know……again)

It was also noticeable Collum only gave jelavic a yellow card for kicking out at an opponent in the same game.

The interesting thing is if he wouldn’t have given Jelavic a yellow….video evidence could have come in to play…but as he did nothing further could be done.

Jelavic then goes on to score 2 goals the following game when he shouldn’t even have been on the park.

Collum has a long history of coming down favourably when it comes to the huns. The evidence is all there and is abundant.

Willie Collum is corrupt and he is a cheat.

    He needs to go!

Yes ———- Italian media [ mainstream and football related ] have been interested in the Sion thing since its beginnings in 2008. The case was seen as being interesting and potentially very significant

Much rumored that small club /small town Sion , owned by an ex goalkeeper and architect, have been given support by some much richer and more influential people . The owner of Napoli is rumored to have a real loathing for Uefa..

Sion’s financial burden has been considerably reduced by a Swiss Court’s decision to make Uefa liable for Sion’s legal costs .

Uefa have managed to make a real mess of the Sion case . Their complacent , arrogant and possibly highly erroneous belief that they are above the law has landed them in deep doo-doo. .

  22. Yes that clean-cut well scrubbed boy scout look that you would never tire of ..but the serious point about Richmond as being the latest in a long line of cheats is that the players must be under fear for their safety when they know that the ref is letting all sorts of dangerous fouls go unpunished.

Especailly ball-players like Forrest who must be running at full tilt dreading the approaching defender’s tackle.

Interestingly —– someone else I know used to share a Glasgow west end back court with Jim White. Jim White allegedly saw nothing wrong with his dog using that back court as a toilet. [ no poop and scoop for Jim ] My informant also claimed that cleaning the stairs was something that Jim simply never had the time/inclination to do.

Perhaps time for a Time Warp section in the Main Stand.

  26. After coming home late last night I had a look at some of the threads posted by the night shift (Margaret McGill et al). There was a discussion about Celtic players and Scotland caps and in particular comparing Danny McGrain with Sandy Jardine. Both players were essentially right backs but both were found places in the Scotland team of that era by the simple expedient of playing Daniel Fergus at left back instead of his natural position and excluding the Leeds Utd left back Frank (Francis) Gray from the line up altogether.

In a similar vein Kenny Dalglish had collected 49 consecutive caps for Scotland and would have collected his 50th in a friendly (can’t remember which team and I’m loathed to consult Google) He was mysteriously dropped for that game by the then manager Willie Ormond. No-one reallly knows why but in collecting his 50 th consecutive cap he would have equalled George Young’s record. Young of course played for the foe malign.

The worst example of bias though has to be the paltry amount of caps awarded to Jimmy McGrory, which again from memory was either 8 or 12 and was commented on by Bob Crampsey in one of his books.

How true. There are Celtic players looking over their shoulders waiting for the tackle that will end their careers.

When Bougherra got away with that cowardly tackle from behind on Gary Hooper’s Achilles it was open season from there on in.

And there are some people who can’t see the damage this is doing to us.

As long as the MIB are allowed to keep doing what they do best, there will never be a level playing field.
